Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church

Church Hill, also known as Timber Ridge Plantation, is a historic plantation house located near Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia. It was built circa 1848, and is a two-story, three-bay, rectangular brick Greek Revival style dwelling. It has a one-story, rear kitchen ell. The house features stuccoed Doric order pilasters at the corners and midpoints of the long sides. Timber Ridge Plantation was the birthplace of Sam Houston (1793-1863). On the property is a non-contributing log building which tradition claims was constructed from logs salvaged from the Sam Houston birthplace cabin. The cabin is believed to have been located at the site of the kitchen ell.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Maple Hall is a historic home located near Lexington in Rockbridge County, Virginia, USA. The house was built in 1855 and is a two-story, three-bay, Greek Revival style brick dwelling on an English basement. It has a hipped roof and rear ell with a gable roof. It features a two-story pedimented front portico. The property includes the contributing two-story brick building which probably dates to the 1820s and a small log outbuilding. The home is currently occupied by a behavior modification program named Maple Hall Academy, and formerly housed a restaurant.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

It has a side gable roof, exterior end chimneys, and a bold cornice decorated with modillions and dentils. A two-story frame addition and one-story porch were added about 1900. The property includes a contributing bank barn and granary, both erected around 1900.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

The South River is a 20.3-mile-long (32.7 km) tributary of the Maury River in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is part of the James River watershed. It rises southwest of Lofton in Augusta County, Virginia, near the western base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and quickly receives the Saint Marys River coming out of the mountains from the east. Entering Rockbridge County near the village of Vesuvius, the South River continues to flow southwest and joins the Maury River between Lexington and Buena Vista.

Clifton is a historic home located near Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia. The house was built about 1815, and is a two-story, seven bay, Federal style brick dwelling. It has a side gable roof and four chimneys. A two-story portico replaced an earlier Victorian portico in the 1980s. The property includes the contributing small stone servant's quarters or foreman's house and a wooden icehouse.The address is 205 Old Buena Vista Road. It was built by Major John Alexander and overlooks the Maury River. Washington and Lee rowing teams would race at this location in the late 1800s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Tankersley Tavern, also known as Old Bridge, is a historic building located near Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia. It was built in three sections with the oldest dated to about 1835. It is a two-story, nine-bay, single pile, frame building with an exposed basement and a decorative two-level gallery on the front facade. Also on the property are the contributing washhouse/kitchen, three frame sheds and a stone abutment for a bridge. It was originally built as a toll house (toll gate) at the county end of the bridge crossing the Maury River from the Valley Turnpike into Lexington. It later housed a tavern, canal ticket office, general store, post office, and dwelling.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Fairfield is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Rockbridge County, Virginia, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 257.The CDP is in the northeast part of the county, along U.S. Route 11 (North Lee Highway), which leads northeast 12 miles (19 km) to Greenville and southwest 11 miles (18 km) to Lexington. Interstate 81/64 forms the northwest edge of the community, with access from Exit 200 (Sterrett Road). The Interstate highway runs parallel to US 11 and leads northeast 23 miles (37 km) to Staunton and southwest 8 miles (13 km) to where the highways split near Lexington.

The Jordan's Point Historic District encompasses a collection of historic industrial resources at Jordan's Point Park in Lexington, Virginia. The area, long a major local crossing point of the Maury River, was developed about 1800 by John Jordan and John Moorhead, who established a sawmill on the site. In 1806 they dammed the river, and then built a cotton mill in 1808. Of this and later industrial activity on the site, only foundation remnants and the millrace remain; surviving structures associated with the development include the miller's house (c. 1815), now a local museum, and a chapel built in 1874.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Stono, also known as Jordan's Point (pronounced "Jer-don"), is a historic home located at Lexington, Virginia. It was built about 1818, and is a cruciform shaped brick dwelling consisting of a two-story, three-bay, central section with one-story, two-bay, flanking wings. The front facade features a two-story Roman Doric order portico with a modillioned pediment and lunette and a gallery at second-floor level. About 1870, a 1+1⁄2-story rear wing was added connecting the main house to a formerly separate loom house. Also on the property are a contributing summer kitchen, ice house, and office.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. It is located in the Lexington Historic District.
