Jefferson is a town in Lincoln County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,551 at the 2020 census. Damariscotta Lake State Park, a popular Mid Coast swimming, canoeing and picnic area, is located within the town limits.

The Dr. F.W. Jackson House is a historic house on Maine State Route 32 in the village center of Jefferson, Maine. Built 1903–05, it is one of the rural community's largest and most elegant examples of Colonial Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Jefferson Town House is the historic former town hall of Jefferson, Maine. It is located at the junction of Maine State Routes 126 and 213. It was built in 1869, and served as the community's town hall until 1958. It is now maintained by the local historical society as a museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

The Jefferson Cattle Pound is a historic animal pound in Jefferson, Maine. Built in 1829, it is one of the state's best-preserved stone pounds. It is located on the south side of Gardiner Road (Maine State Route 126), about 0.75 miles (1.21 km) west of its junction with Maine State Route 213. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Godfrey Ludwig House is a historic house on Maine State Route 32 in Waldoboro, Maine. Built about 1800, it is a well-preserved brick Cape house, built by a descendant of one of the area's early German immigrants. It is notable for features enabling its use as a church. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Damariscotta Lake is a lake in Lincoln County, Maine. Damariscota Lake, which covers 4,300 acres (1,700 ha), encompasses part of the towns of Jefferson, Nobleboro, and Newcastle. Damariscotta Lake State Park in Jefferson occupies 19 acres at the far northern end of the lake. The lake is known for its annual run of alewives and the dam and fish ladder built in 1807 at Damariscotta Mills at the lake's southern tip.

Chimney Farm is a historic farm property at 617 East Neck Road in Nobleboro, Maine. The heart of the farm is an early 19th-century farmhouse, which was from 1931 to their respective deaths home to the writers Henry Beston (1888–1968) and Elizabeth Coatsworth (1893–1986). Both were prominent regional award-winning writers, and the farm property played a prominent role on some of their writings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Devonshire County, Massachusetts was a short-lived county formed in 1674 during colonial territorial disputes between the Massachusetts Bay Colony and the Province of New York. The county existed from 1674 to 1675, and encompassed land claimed by Massachusetts between the Kennebec River and Penobscot Bay in what is now Maine. This overlapped the New York claim, which extended from the Kennebec to the Saint Croix River (Maine's present easternmost boundary). Settlements in the territory were attacked during King Philip's War (1675-1676) and the area was abandoned until the 18th century. It was incorporated into the Province of Massachusetts Bay in 1692, which initially governed it as part of York County. The area is now divided into a number of Maine counties.
