Nidd Hall

St Paul and St Margaret's Church is the parish church of Nidd, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. There was a church in Nidd in the mediaeval period, and in 1848 it was described as "a very ancient structure". In 1851, it could accommodate 58 worshippers, and had an average attendance of 30. In 1866, the church was described as "in decay", and Miss Rawson of Nidd Hall funded its demolition and replacement. The new church was designed by Thomas Henry and Francis Healey, in the Decorated Gothic style. The building was grade II listed in 1966. The church is built of gritstone with a grey slate roof, and consists of a nave, a north aisle added in 1908, a south porch, a chancel and a west tower. The tower has three stages, angle buttresses, lancet windows, elaborate two-light bell openings with hood moulds, a clock face, and an embattled parapet with crocketed pinnacles. The porch is gabled and has an entrance with a pointed arch and hood mould; the outer entrance may be surviving 13th-century work. Inside, the Mediaeval font survives, as do several carved stones. The wast and west windows have stained glass by William Holland, while two on the north side have glass by Charles Eamer Kempe, one described by Nikolaus Pevsner as "exceptionally good".

Nidd Bridge railway station served the village of Nidd, North Yorkshire, England from 1848 to 1964 on the Leeds-Northallerton Railway.

Nidd is a small village and civil parish in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, England. The population of the village taken at the 2011 census was 168. It is situated 3 miles north of Harrogate, 1.2 miles (2 km) east of Ripley on the B6165 Pateley Bridge to Knaresborough road and near the River Nidd. The village used to have a railway station (Nidd Bridge) on the Leeds to Northallerton Railway, but this was closed down on 18 June 1962.The village takes its name from the River Nidd which passes through the parish. The parish church of St Paul & St Margaret has a stone monument to the Rawson family who owned Nidd Hall in the 19th and the early part of the 20th centuries. Nidd Hall is a former country house which has been converted into an hotel.Until 1889, Nidd was part of the Liberty of Ripon.

The Nidderdale Greenway is a 4-mile (6.4 km) path that runs between Harrogate and Ripley in North Yorkshire, England. It uses a former railway line that ran between Harrogate and Pateley Bridge as its course. The route connects to other cycle paths including the Way of the Roses.

The Nidd Viaduct, also known as the Bilton Viaduct, is a former railway viaduct in Bilton, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. In 1845, the Leeds and Thirsk Railway received permission to construct a line north from Leeds Wellington railway station to Thirsk railway station. At Bilton, the line had to cross the Nidd Gorge, and work on a viaduct started in 1846, designed by John Cass Birkinshaw. It was constructed of gritstone slabs quarried from the side of the gorge. The viaduct was completed in 1847, and the first train crossed it in 1848. The line closed in 1969, but the viaduct was retained, and was grade II listed in 1987. It is now crossed by the Nidderdale Greenway cycle route. The viaduct is built of gritstone, and consists of seven round arches, three of them over the river. The piers have plinths and rusticated quoins. The arches have massive voussoirs, and there are moulded bands at impost and track levels. The parapet has flat moulding, and the end piers have projecting coping. The viaduct is 104 feet (32 m) high, and 448 feet (137 m) long.

Oak Beck is a watercourse that flows eastwards across the northern part of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, England. The beck flows through a broad V-shaped valley, before emptying into the River Nidd at Bilton, just upstream from the Nidd Gorge Viaduct. Water from Oak Beck has been used as a water supply for Harrogate and also for industrial purposes further downstream.

Ripley Town Hall is a municipal building in Main Street, Ripley, North Yorkshire, England. The structure, which is used as an events venue and as a post office, is a grade II listed building.

Ripley Valley railway station served the villages of Killinghall and Ripley, North Yorkshire, England from 1862 to 1951 on the Nidd Valley Railway.

Ripley Market Cross, also known as the Village Cross, is a historic structure in Ripley, North Yorkshire, a village in England. Ripley was granted a market charter in 1357, to hold a market every Monday. A market cross was erected probably in the 15th century, of which the steps survive. In the 17th or 18th century, a sundial on a shaft was erected atop the steps. The market had ended by the Victorian period, but several fairs were still held each year. The cross was grade II listed in 1966, and it is also a scheduled monument, together with the adjacent stocks. The cross is made of gritstone, and has four tiers of square steps, the lowest of which is 3 metres wide. On the steps is a square base. On this is a 1.25-metre chamfered shaft surmounted by a square slab carrying a sundial, consisting of a cubiform block with chamfered corners and the remains of a gnomon on each face.

Ripley Castle is a Grade I listed 14th-century country house in Ripley, North Yorkshire, England, 3 miles (4.8 km) north of Harrogate.The house is built of coursed squared gritstone and ashlar with grey slate and stone slate roofs. A central two-storey block is flanked by a tower at one end and a three-storey wing at the other. A gatehouse which stands some 260 feet (80 m) to the south of the main buildings is also Grade I listed, whilst the two weirs over Ripley Beck (and the bridges that straddle them) are grade II listed and the grounds and gardens are also listed at grade II.The castle has been the seat of the Ingilby baronets for centuries.

Ripley is a village and civil parish in North Yorkshire in England, a few miles north of Harrogate on the A61 road towards Ripon. The village name derives from Old English and is believed to mean wood of the Hrype or Ripon people. Ripley was historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire until 1974.

Harrogate Gasworks Railway was an industrial railway in the town of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. It was built to the gauge of 2 ft and ran between Bilton Junction on the North Eastern Railway (formerly the Leeds and Thirsk Railway), to the Harrogate Gas Company's (HGC) works at New Park, north of the town centre. It opened in 1908 to carry coal to the works for gasification, and outbound byproduct liquids. It closed to traffic in 1956. The railway was noted for its tight gauge restrictions in the tunnel at New Park. Two of its steam locomotives have survived into preservation, and are still in use on heritage railways.
