Zürich Manegg railway station

District 2 is a district on the western side of Lake Zürich in the Swiss city of Zürich. The district comprises the quarters Wollishofen, Leimbach and Enge.

Leimbach (German: [ˈlaɪmbax] (listen)) is a quarter in the district 2 in Zürich. It is located in the lower Sihl Valley (Sihltal). It was formerly a municipality of its own, having been incorporated into Zürich in 1893. The quarter has a population of 5,185 as of December 31, 2008 and is distributed on an area of 2.92 km2 (1.13 sq mi).

The Zimmerberg Base Tunnel (ZBT) is a railway tunnel under the Zimmerberg mountains in Switzerland. Phase I of the tunnel was opened to traffic during April 2003. The ZBT has been divided into two phases of work; as of 2020, only Phase I is operational while Phase II remains in the planning and preparation stages. Zimmerberg I is about 10 km long and links Zurich with Thalwil and bypasses a section of the Lake Zürich left-bank railway line, allowing rail traffic to traverse the mountains more efficiently than traditional routes.

Zürich Wollishofen railway station (German: Bahnhof Zürich Wollishofen) is a railway station in the Wollishofen quarter of the Swiss city of Zürich. It is situated close to the western shore of Lake Zurich, and adjacent to the shipyard and pier of the Zürichsee-Schifffahrtsgesellschaft, who operate the principal passenger boat services on the lake. The station is located on the Lake Zürich left bank line, which originally formed part of the Zürich to Lucerne main line, although most main line trains now use the alternative Zimmerberg Base Tunnel routing since it opened in 2003.Wollishofen station is within walking distance to the Rote Fabrik, a cultural centre used as a music venue.

Knabenschiessen is a traditional target shooting competition in Zürich, held on the second weekend of September each year. The festival, officially held for the first time in 1889, is one of the oldest in Switzerland, dating back to the 17th century.The competition is open to 13- to 17-year-olds who either reside or are enrolled in a school in the canton of Zürich. Originally reserved for boys (Knaben), the competition has been open to female participants since 1991. The shooting is with the Swiss Army ordnance rifle, SIG SG 550. The competition is held in the shooting range at Albisgütli to the south-west of the city center, on the slope of Uetliberg. It is surrounded by a large fair.

Rote Fabrik (Red Factory) is a former factory in the Wollishofen neighbourhood of Zürich, Switzerland. It is now used as a music venue and cultural centre. It is so named because the buildings are made of red brick, but also because left-wing parties were part of the campaign to turn the location into a cultural centre.
