The Black Cat Bar or Black Cat Café was a bar in San Francisco, California. It originally opened in 1906 and closed in 1921. The Black Cat re-opened in 1933 and operated for another 30 years. During its second run of operation, it was a hangout for Beats and bohemians but over time began attracting more and more of a gay clientele, and becoming a flashpoint for what was then known as the homophile movement, a precursor to the gay liberation movement that gained momentum in the 1960s. The Black Cat was at the center of a legal fight that was one of the earliest court cases to establish legal protections for gay people in the United States. Despite this victory, continued pressure from law enforcement agencies eventually forced the bar's closure in 1964.

Montgomery Street is a north-south thoroughfare in San Francisco, California, in the United States. It runs about 16 blocks from the Telegraph Hill neighborhood south through downtown, terminating at Market Street. South of Columbus Avenue, Montgomery Street runs through the heart of San Francisco's Financial District and contains one of the highest concentrations of financial activity, investment business, and venture capital in the United States and the world. For this reason, it is known as "the Wall Street of the West". South of Market Street, the street continues as New Montgomery Street for two more blocks to terminate at Howard Street in the SOMA district.

Belli Building is a historic multi-use building, built in c. 1851 in the Jackson Square neighborhood at 722–728 Montgomery Street in San Francisco, California. After the 1989 earthquake, the Belli Building and the adjacent Genella Building (also known as the Belli Annex at 726–728 Montgomery Street) were damaged and left vacant for many years, and subsequently renovated together. Since 2015, these two buildings are an apartment building with only the façades saved, called 722 Montgomery. The Belli Building has been listed as a San Francisco Designated Landmark (no. 9) since 1969, and is part of the Jackson Square Historic District. The Genella Building is separately listed as a San Francisco Designated Landmark (no. 10). The Belli Building was first known as the Langerman's Tobacco and Segar Warehouse, and then later as the Melodeon Theatre.

The Financial District is a neighborhood in San Francisco, California, that serves as its main central business district and has 372,829 jobs according to us census tracts as of 2012-2016. It is home to the city's largest concentration of corporate headquarters, law firms, insurance companies, real estate firms, savings and loan banks, and other financial institutions. Golden Era Building, formerly known as the Call Building, is a historic commercial building built in 1852 during the California Gold Rush, and located at 732-734 Montgomery Street in the Jackson Square area of San Francisco, California.The Golden Era Building has been listed as a San Francisco Designated Landmark since March 9, 1969; and is part of the Jackson Square Historic District which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

The Transamerica Pyramid at 600 Montgomery Street between Clay and Washington Streets in the Financial District of San Francisco, California, United States, is a 48-story futurist skyscraper and the second tallest building in the San Francisco skyline. It was the tallest building in San Francisco from its completion in 1972 until 2018 when the newly constructed Salesforce Tower surpassed its height. The building no longer houses the headquarters of the Transamerica Corporation, which moved its U.S. headquarters to Baltimore, Maryland. However, the building is still associated with the company by being depicted on the company's logo. Designed by architect William Pereira and built by Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company, the building stands at 853 feet (260 m). On completion in 1972 it was the eighth-tallest building in the world. It is also a popular tourist site. In 2020, the building was sold to NYC investor Michael Shvo, who in 2022 hired Norman Foster to redesign the interiors and renovate the building.
