Winona Senior High School

Winona ( win-OH-nə) is a city in and the county seat of Winona County, Minnesota, United States. Located in bluff country on the Mississippi River, its most noticeable physical landmark is Sugar Loaf. The population was 25,948 at the 2020 census.

Cotter Schools is located in Winona, Minnesota, and is the sole Roman Catholic school in the city. Educational opportunities begin in preschool for children 16 months or older and continue through Grade 12. Boarding is available for students in grades 7–12. The school opened its doors on September 5, 1911, as the "Cotter School for Boys" with 11 students. Cotter, named for the diocese’s first bishop, Bishop Joseph Bernard Cotter, was a boys school directed by the Christian Brothers of Saint John Baptist de La Salle. In 1952, the Brothers turned the operation of the school over to the diocese and Cotter became co-educational with the combining of the Cathedral Girls High School. In 1953 a new Cotter building was erected and in 1962 an addition was added. In 1992, with help from an endowment from the Hiawatha Education Foundation, the school moved to its current location on the campus of the former College of Saint Teresa, allowing it to add a boarding school component.

The building was constructed in 1932, the third of five new facilities built by Winona Public Schools in the early 20th century. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012 for its local significance in the theme of education. It was nominated for representing the efforts of Winona Public Schools to implement progressive educational reforms such as separated grades, kindergartens, gymnasiums, art and music classrooms, and improved hygiene and fire safety.Due to budgetary shortfalls, the school building was sold to a private buyer in 2018.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012 for its local significance in the themes of architecture and education. It was nominated for representing the efforts of Winona Public Schools to implement progressive educational reforms, as well as for its Public Works Administration funding and Art Moderne architecture.

The Winona and St. Peter Engine House is a former engine house in Winona, Minnesota, United States. It was built around 1890 by the Winona and St. Peter Railroad, a subsidiary of the Chicago and North Western Transportation Company. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 for having local significance in the theme of transportation. It was nominated for being the sole surviving structure of a railroad shop complex that was a major local employer and a component of the rail network that fueled Winona's economy.The building continued to serve as a locomotive shop until the Chicago and North Western removed its maintenance operations from Winona. Since 1965 the building has served as a warehouse, and is currently utilized by the Fastenal company of Winona.

MMAM is a nonprofit art museum that engages visitors in meaningful visual art experiences through education and exhibitions that explore the ongoing and historic human relationship with water. The purpose-built museum is located on the banks of the Mississippi River and boasts six galleries, an educational and events space, and a destination retail shop on its seven acre riverside campus.

The Abner F. Hodgins House is a historic house in Winona, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1890 for Hodgins (1826–1896), a successful lumber executive. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 for its local significance in the themes of architecture and industry. It was nominated for being an outstanding example of a Queen Anne-style house and for being the home of a notable leader in the key industry behind Winona's early prominence.

Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium, also known as Maxwell Field, is a stadium at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. It has been the home to Winona State Warriors football team since at least the 1937 season, and the women's soccer team since 1995. It was named Maxwell Field in honor of then-current Winona State president Guy Maxwell. Maxwell Hall, formerly the Maxwell Library, was also named in his honor.

WSU's Performing Arts Center (also known as the DuFresne Performing Arts Center) is a performing arts center on the campus of Winona State University in Winona County, Minnesota. The building was built in 1968 and includes a large band room, choir room, a 412-seat proscenium theatre, a versatile black-box theatre (The Dorothy B. Magnus Theatre), a recital hall, dance studio, scene shop, costume shop, make-up and dressing rooms, offices, and classrooms. The Performing Arts Center houses the Departments of Music, Theatre & Dance, and Communications Studies. It is the summer home and performance location for the Great River Shakespeare Festival.
