Winona State University (WSU) is a public university in Winona, Minnesota. It was founded as First State Normal School of Minnesota in 1858 and is the oldest member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System. It was the first normal school west of the Mississippi River.WSU offers more than 80 programs on its main campus as well as collegiate programs on satellite campuses at Winona State University-Rochester. Its average annual enrollment is approximately 9,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Its sports teams compete as the Winona State Warriors in the NCAA Division II athletics in 14 sports, primarily in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium, also known as Maxwell Field, is a stadium at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. It has been the home to Winona State Warriors football team since at least the 1937 season, and the women's soccer team since 1995. It was named Maxwell Field in honor of then-current Winona State president Guy Maxwell. Maxwell Hall, formerly the Maxwell Library, was also named in his honor.

The Diocese of Winona–Rochester (Latin: Dioecesis Vinonaënsis-Roffensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory, or diocese, of the Catholic Church in Southern Minnesota in the United States. It is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. The mother church of the Diocese of Winona–Rochester is the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona, with the Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist located in Rochester.

The Old Winona Middle School is a former school complex in Winona, Minnesota, United States. The east building was originally constructed as the Winona High School from 1915 to 1917 and the west building was added as the Winona Junior High School in 1926. An auditorium was added to the rear of the east building in 1928. In 1988 the complex became the Winona Middle School. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Winona High School and Winona Junior High School in 2004 for its local significance in the theme of education. It was nominated for representing local efforts to implement progressive educational trends in updated facilities, while offering cultural experiences to the wider community through professional music performances in the auditorium.An adaptive reuse project completed in 2004 converted the former school into the Washington Crossing apartments.

Winona station, formerly known as the Chicago. Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway Station, is a historic train station in Winona, Minnesota, United States. It is served by Amtrak's daily Empire Builder service. It was originally built in 1888 by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, known later as the Milwaukee Road. A former Milwaukee Road freight house also exists here. The station was designed by architect John T. W. Jennings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013 as the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway Station for having local significance in the theme of transportation. It was nominated for representing the development of train transportation in Minnesota with Winona as a major rail hub.

The Winona Public Library is the public library serving Winona, Minnesota, United States. It is a member of Southeastern Libraries Cooperating, a Minnesota library region. Housed in an 1899 Neoclassical building, the Winona Public Library was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 for having local significance in architecture and education. It is Minnesota's oldest library to continuously operate in a purpose-built facility.

The Laird, Norton Company Building is a historic commercial building in Winona, Minnesota, United States. From its completion in 1918 to 1958 it was the headquarters of the Laird, Norton Company, the largest and most successful logging firm based in Winona. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014 for its local significance in the theme of commerce. It was nominated for its association with the Minnesota lumber industry. The Laird, Norton Company was founded in the 1850s in Winona, a strategic river and rail hub, and pioneered the use of line yards, lumber yards established along railroad lines to sell raw building material to inland settlers.

The Winona Masonic Temple is a historic Masonic Temple in Winona, Minnesota, United States, completed in 1909. Many local civic and business leaders were members of the lodge. Containing a large ballroom and other meeting space, the building was an important venue in Winona for both Masonic activities and general public events. The Winona Masonic Temple was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 for having state-level significance in the themes of art and social history. It was nominated as the headquarters of a fraternal organization important to Winona's civic and social development, and for containing Minnesota's largest collection of Masonic theatre backdrops and stage equipment.

The Abner F. Hodgins House is a historic house in Winona, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1890 for Hodgins (1826–1896), a successful lumber executive. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 for its local significance in the themes of architecture and industry. It was nominated for being an outstanding example of a Queen Anne-style house and for being the home of a notable leader in the key industry behind Winona's early prominence.

The Huff–Lamberton House is a historic house in Winona, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1857, and in 1873 it was given a Moorish Revival porch. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 for its state-level significance in the theme of architecture. It was nominated for being one of Minnesota's oldest and best preserved Italian Villa style houses. It is currently owned by Kappa Chi Fraternity.

The Winona County Courthouse is the seat of government for Winona County in Winona, Minnesota, United States. The 1889 Richardsonian Romanesque building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 for having local significance in the themes of architecture, art, and politics/government. It was nominated for being an artistic manifestation of Winona's prosperous riverboat and logging era. It was the first courthouse in Minnesota listed on the National Register.
