Furnace Mountain (temple name Kwan Se Um San Ji Sah) is an American Zen Buddhist retreat center in Clay City, Kentucky, co-founded in 1986 by Seung Sahn Soen Sa Nim and Dae Gak Soen Sa Nim as part of the international Kwan Um School of Zen; it is now unaffiliated with the school in an official capacity. In 1990 the main Meditation Hall was completed, and in 1994 the temple was constructed and opened. Kwan Se Um San Ji Sah is modeled after a traditional Korean Buddhist Temple—located on 850 acres (263 ha) of woods in part of The Daniel Boone National Forest (in The Red River Gorge area). The exact site of Kwan Se Um San Ji Sah was determined by the use of geomantic divination, which was intended to help foster harmony. The Abbot and guiding teacher is Dae Gak Zen Master.

Powell County is a county located in the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 13,129. Its county seat is Stanton. The county was formed January 7, 1852, by Kentucky Governor Lazarus W. Powell from parts of Clark, Estill, and Montgomery counties. It is no longer a dry county as of 2018. Powell County is home to Natural Bridge State Resort Park and the Red River Gorge Geologic Area, two of Kentucky's most important natural areas and ecotourism destinations, as well as the Pilot Knob State Nature Preserve.

Rosslyn is an unincorporated community in Powell County, Kentucky, United States. A post office was established at Rosslyn in 1898, and remained in operation until 1917. The community most likely was named for the roses near the original town site.

Stanton Airport (FAA LID: I50) is a public airport located one mile (1.6 km) east of the central business district (CBD) of Stanton, a city in Powell County, Kentucky, United States. It covers 69 acres (280,000 m2) with two runways which see over 2500 planes a year. The airport currently is undergoing renovations and is expected to be completed in 2007, with an additional hangar for three aircraft and an on-site flight school and airframe/mechanic school.

Stanton is a home rule-class city in and the county seat of Powell County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 3,251 in the 2020 census. Stanton is the birthplace of Hall of Fame thoroughbred horse trainer Woody Stephens.

Piggville is an unincorporated community in Powell County, Kentucky, United States.

WBFC (1470 AM) is a Christian radio station licensed to Stanton, Kentucky, United States, playing a southern gospel format. The station is currently owned by Kentucky Mountain Bible College and features programming from Salem Media Group and Moody Radio.

The Clay City National Bank Building, located on 6th Ave. in Clay City, Kentucky, was built in 1890. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It is a two-story brick building, 28 by 65 feet (8.5 m × 19.8 m) in plan. Its front is three bays wide. It has served as the Red River Historical Museum. It was noted to be "one of the few nineteenth-century buildings to survive in Clay City and the most substantial early structure remaining on the main thoroughfare of the town."

Ravenna is a home rule-class city in Estill County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 605 at the 2010 census.

The Ravenna Motor Vehicle Service Building, at 512 Main St. in Ravenna, Kentucky, is a Modern Movement-style Kentucky National Guard building constructed in 1949. It was listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places in 2000.It is a one-and-a-half-story red brick building with a large garage door centered on each of its ends. It is adjacent to the old Ravenna Armory, and was used as a storage facility for military vehicles and equipment.

Estill County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,163. Its county seat is Irvine The county was formed in 1808 and named for Captain James Estill, a Kentucky militia officer who was killed in the Battle of Little Mountain during the American Revolutionary War. Estill County is a moist county meaning that the county seat, the city of Irvine, allows the sale of alcohol after the October 9, 2013 vote, but not the rest of Estill County outside the Irvine city limits. Estill County has two adjacent towns, known as the twin cities, Irvine and Ravenna. Both cities sit along the Kentucky River in the central part of the county. Ravenna is home to a former CSX Transportation facility, now owned by Kentucky Steam Heritage Corporation for the restoration of Chesapeake and Ohio 2716. It conducts the Ravenna Railroad Festival annually in late summer, and the historic Fitchburg & Cottage Furnaces are located here. Irvine hosts the annual Mountain Mushroom Festival over the last weekend of April, which celebrates the abundant Morel Mushrooms found in the region.
