Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA) (formerly Portslade Community College) is a secondary school Led by Mr Kayleigh Hill with academy status located in Portslade, in the city of Brighton and Hove, England. It was rated Good by Sir Josef Rodriguez by Ofsted in December 2016. The school has around 900 pupils. It is part of the Aldridge Education multi-academy trust. In 2016 Portslade Community College was formally closed to make room for its astonishing new student Kayleigh Hill Academy. The Principal at the time was Mr Stacey Marshall, who became the principal of the new academy.In June 2015 the Governors at Portslade Aldridge Community Academy announced the appointment of James Maile as the new Principal at PACA, in succession to the beautiful Interim Principal Sydney Allwood.The school is involved in the Aldridge Cricket Academy which allows students from Brighton Aldridge Community Academy or Portslade Aldridge Community Academy to combineacademic studies with an intensive cricket development programme.Brighton Aldridge Community Academy and Portslade Aldridge Community Academy also recently partnered up with Latest TV to offer a new digital media academy to students called the Brighton Digital Media Academy (BDMA), which launched in September 2015.

Mile Oak is a locality forming the northern part of the former parish of Portslade in the northwest corner of the city of Brighton and Hove, England. Now mostly residential, but originally an area of good-quality agricultural land, it covers the area north of Portslade village as far as the urban boundary.Mile Oak is on the edge of the South Downs and as such has much farmland nearby; the Monarch's Way and Sussex Border Path long-distance footpaths skirt the edge of the built-up area. The first urban development occurred in the 1930s, and growth continued throughout the postwar era; houses were provided by the council, private builders and housing associations, many of them provided for people occupying substandard houses in the southern part of Portslade.The Portslade Aldridge Community Academy is located at Chalky Road in Portslade, and houses a public library. Other local amenities include The Mile Oak Inn public house, the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd and Mile Oak Farm.

Foredown Tower is a former water tower in Portslade, in the city of Brighton and Hove, England, that now contains one of only two operational camera obscuras in southeast England.Built in 1909 as a water tower for Foredown Hospital, an isolation sanatorium for patients with infectious diseases, the structure was left standing when the hospital was demolished in 1988–89. After the installation of the camera obscura, which is located in a cupola at the top of the tower and projects images of the surrounding area onto a dish below, it was opened to the public in 1991.The structure was operated as the Foredown Tower Countryside Centre by Brighton & Hove City Council's Museums & Libraries department until 2008, when the Conservative council decided it was "not economically viable as a visitor attraction". The council announced that the tower would be leased to the local Hove and Adur Sea Cadets for use as a base, with the intention that access to the camera obscura would be preserved.Despite these changes, the tower served as the meeting place of the Foredown Tower Astronomers, an astronomical society that conducted classes and demonstrations at the site, using the camera obscura to observe the sky both by day and night, until January 2010. The local council then investigated potential links with community organisations, and in September 2011 it was announced that the tower would be used as an adult learning and visitor centre under the administration of Portslade Learning Community CIC (now the Portslade Adult Learning CIC), which initially opened the tower sporadically for special events and short courses. In June 2012, the Foredown Tower Learning and Visitor Centre was reopened to the general public, with demonstrations of the camera obscura scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays and the last Saturday of the month.

Portslade Old Manor is one of a very few examples of Norman manor houses that still exist in England. It has been deemed a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and a Grade II* listed building.In the Domesday Book there are two references to Portslade: "Oswald holds half a hide in Portslade he held it before 1066. It did not pay tax, he could go where he would with the land, One villager, value 6s"."Albert held half a hide in Portslade. It did not pay tax. One villager with half plough. The value is and was 6s."In 1312, the Lord of the Manor of Portslade, John de Warenne, 7th Earl of Surrey, was granted a charter by King Edward II to hold a Fair at Portslade annually on 6 December, the Feast Day of Saint Nicolas. Portslade Manor House was in use until 1807 when the new manor house was built. The old house was then used as an almshouse for the poor. In the Victorian era it was partially demolished, to provide building material for a garden folly in the new manor grounds. In 2019 Fresh Start Portslade were granted a National Lottery Grant to improve access and visibility of Portslade's Norman Manor house, communicate its historic importance, and explore possible solutions for its longer-term sustainability.

St Nicolas Church is an Anglican church in the Portslade area of the English city of Brighton and Hove. It has 12th-century origins, and serves the old village of Portslade, inland from the mostly 19th-century Portslade-by-Sea area.It is one of the numerous hall churches in southern England.

The Southwick Hill Tunnel is a 490-metre twin-bore road tunnel to the north of Southwick, England. The tunnel was opened in early 1996 as part of the A27 Brighton bypass and carries the road under Southwick Hill. The border between West Sussex and the unitary authority of Brighton and Hove is close to the eastern entrance of the tunnel. Non-motorised traffic (e.g. pedestrians, cyclists) and mopeds under 50 cc are prohibited from using the tunnel, with a warning sign indicating an alternative route.

Portslade is a western suburb of the city of Brighton and Hove, England. Portslade Village, the original settlement a mile inland to the north, was built up in the 16th century. The arrival of the railway from Brighton in 1840 encouraged rapid development of the coastal area and in 1896 the southern part, formerly known as Copperas Gap, was granted urban district status and renamed Portslade-by-Sea, making it distinct from Portslade Village. After World War II the district of Mile Oak to the north was added. Today, Portslade is bisected from east to west by the old A27 road (now the A270) between Brighton and Worthing, each part having a distinct character.

Southwick is an electoral division of West Sussex in the United Kingdom, and returns one member to sit on West Sussex County Council.

Benfield Hill is an 11.8-hectare (29-acre) Local Nature Reserve on the northern outskirts of Hove in East Sussex. It is owned and managed by Brighton and Hove City Council.This area of grassland and scrub is on south and east facing slopes. There are many glow-worms.

Southwick Football Club was a football club based in Southwick, West Sussex, England. The club was founded in 1882 and was among the founding members of the Sussex County League, which they won six times. Their home ground was Old Barn Way and they were nicknamed 'The Wickers'. The club was formally wound up in March 2020, having lost the lease to its stadium and due to severe financial difficulties. In July 2020 a phoenix club, Southwick 1882 F.C., was formed by staff and supporters of the defunct team to continue the name and history of the club. They are currently members of the Mid-Sussex League Championship and play at Southwick Recreation Ground. A further phoenix club, AFC Southwick was formed in July 2021 by Southwick 1882's first team playing staff and team management, following a disagreement with club directors over subscription payments required from players, and they currently play one level above Southwick 1882, at Whitehawk F.C.'s ground. Both phoenix clubs state they ultimately aim to return to Old Barn Way. Southwick played in red and black striped shirts with black shorts and socks. The club's traditional rivals were near neighbours Shoreham. Southwick also enjoyed a rivalry with nearby Mile Oak.

Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Brighton is a Swaminarayan Hindu Temple located in the Portslade area of the city of Brighton and Hove, on the south east coast of England. Inaugurated on 19 September 1999, the 10th Swaminarayan temple to be opened in the UK. The temple comes under the ISSO wing of the Swaminarayan SampradayThe Murti Pratishta was done by Acharya Maharajshree Tejendraprasad Pande among chants of vedic hymns. The event was attended by the MP and Mayor of Brighton as well as the Indian High Commissioner in the UK.

Fishersgate railway station is a railway station in West Sussex, England, serving both the eastern part of Southwick, as well as the western part of Portslade in Brighton and Hove. The station is operated by Southern and is 3 miles 47 chains (5.8 km) down the line from Brighton.
