Hunnington

Hunnington railway station was a railway station in the village of Hunnington, near Halesowen, England, on the Great Western Railway & Midland Railway's Joint Halesowen Railway line from Old Hill to Longbridge. The station had only a single platform but had its own sidings, which served the now closed Blue Bird Toffee factory. Advertised public passenger services were withdrawn in 1919 but workmen's trains continued until 1958.Unlike most of the other former stations and infrastructure of the Halesowen Railway, Hunnington station building still remains as a private residence.

Dowery Dell, between Rubery and Halesowen in Worcestershire, was a 234 yards (214 m), nine span lattice steel, single-track railway viaduct that carried the Halesowen to Longbridge railway. A 10 mph speed limit was in operation. The line opened in 1883. Trains ran until 1964 and the viaduct was dismantled in 1965.

Romsley is a village and civil parish in the Bromsgrove District of Worcestershire, England, on the east side of the Clent Hills about 4 miles south of Halesowen. In 2001 it had a population of 1,601.The parish church, dedicated to Saint Kenelm is a Grade I listed building. The nave of the church continues directly into the chancel, both are from the 12th century and built of red sandstone. A 15th-century tower is of greenish sandstone, and the church has a timber porch. The chancel is built over a crypt that once contained the shrine of St Kenelm. A spring marks the reputed site of his martyrdom. Hammer Hill House in Romsley, built in 1923, was designed by Clough Williams-Ellis.The village and its area attract walkers, campers, and caravanners on the Clent and Walton Hills and on the Cuckoos Corner site. The main road that runs through Romsley is called Bromsgrove Road. There are limited local amenities including a post office, a butcher, a pub-restaurant, and a hairdresser. The village is served by the 147 bus service which connects the village to Halesowen and Catshill. It is operated by Worcestershire County Council, but is to be taken over by Kev's Bus and extended to Bromsgrove Railway Station on 26 February 2018.Romsley features in Geoffrey Hill's long poem The Triumph of Love: Spraddled ridge- village sacred to the boy-martyr, Kenelm, his mouth full of blood and toffee.

Seth Somers Park is a cricket ground in Halesowen, West Midlands. It is home to Halesowen Cricket Club, whose 1st XI play in the Birmingham and District Premier League. The park was used for first-class cricket by Worcestershire on two occasions in the 1960s, at which time Halesowen lay in Worcestershire. In 1964 they beat Cambridge University by ten wickets, and five years later they beat the same opposition by an identical margin. Two games in the 1986 ICC Trophy were played at Seth Somers Park: Canada beat Hong Kong by four wickets, while Denmark beat Bermuda by six wickets.

Illey Pastures is a 3.5-hectare (8.6-acre) biological site of Special Scientific Interest in the West Midlands. The site was notified in 1989 under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is close to the village of Illey.

Halesowen bus station is a bus station in the town of Halesowen in the West Midlands conurbation in England. It is owned and managed by Transport for West Midlands. The station is located on Queensway in front of the Cornbow Centre, which houses the Asda superstore plus many other shops, and opposite Halesowen's Jobcentre Plus and Norman Church. Originally, Halesowen had no bus station. Instead, most buses boarded adjacent to the old library building in Hagley Street/Great Cornbow, with the Service 130 (Birmingham-Stourbridge) boarding in New Road and Services 137/138 (Birmingham-Brierley Hill) at Shenstone island, some distance from the town. However, a new bus station opposite Church Croft in Queensway was constructed adjacent to the new shopping centre in the late 1960s, enabling Hagley Street to be pedestrianised. All bus services except Services 130/137/138 boarded here. However, these services were also relocated to the Bus Station from 1983 onward, following revisions to bus links into Birmingham. The original bus station remain largely unchanged until part of the shopping centre frontage was sacrificed to enable it to be enlarged in 1999. However, it was soon clear that the station was outdated and it closed in March 2007 for a total redevelopment, which also saw a new Asda superstore opened nearby as part of a multimillion-pound regeneration of Halesowen town centre. The present Bus Station was constructed on the same site and opened in December 2008, along with a new Asda supermarket in the Cornbow Shopping Centre towards the end of the previous month. Whereas the original bus station permitted two-way arrival and departure along Queensway, with some stands located on a refuge on the far side from the shopping centre, all the departure stands in the present one are located on the same side as the Cornbow Centre. It features electronic departure doors that are automatically activated by arriving buses, thus permitting full passenger segregation from manoeuvring vehicles.

Uffmoor Wood is a semi-natural woodland in Worcestershire, in the English Midlands. It is one of over a thousand woods cared for by the Woodland Trust. The wood has an area of 84.84 hectares (209.6 acres), and grid reference SO952811. Sitting at the foot of the Clent Hills and about 3 km southwest of Halesowen, Uffmoor Wood is a popular recreational destination for local people. Adjacent to Hagley Woods, with its mystery of 'Who put Bella in the Wych Elm?', and the site of several pre-war murders, Uffmoor has developed a reputation for the supernatural.In May 2017 the Trust temporarily suspended public access to the wood because of misbehaviour including dirt bike scrambling, drug peddling and public sexual acts.

Hasbury is a suburb of Halesowen in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley in West Midlands, England. Its main focal point is the small shopping centre at the Wassell Road/Hagley Road junction, surrounded to the north by municipal housing development (Albrighton Road and Philip Road) and with owner-occupier housing estates located to the south (the Huntlands) and west (Rosemary Road). The local primary school is St Margaret's at Hasbury Church of England Primary School, which is located on Hagley Road adjacent to St. Margaret of Antioch church. Halesowen (originally called Hale Manor) was a medieval parish in the West Midlands of England. The townships of Halesowen, Cakemore, Hasbury, Hawne, Hill, Hunnington, Illey, Lapal, Oldbury, Ridgacre, Romsley and Warley Salop formed a detached part of Shropshire; the rest of the parish, consisting of the chapelries of Cradley and Frankley, and the hamlets of Lutley and Warley Wigorn, was part of Worcestershire.The Counties (Detached Parts) Act 1844 made the entire area part of Worcestershire. Each of these townships, chapelries and hamlets became a civil parish in 1866. Subsequently Ridgacre, under the name of Quinton was added to Birmingham in Warwickshire in 1909, and has formed part of the Birmingham metropolitan district in West Midlands since 1974 Halesowen (with Cakemore, Cradley, Hasbury, Hawne, Hill, Illey, Lapal and Lutley) has formed part of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley in West Midlands since 1974 Oldbury, Warley Salop and Warley Wigorn became part of the County Borough of Warley (Worcestershire) in 1966 and since 1974 the Sandwell metropolitan borough in West Midlands Frankley and Romsley do not form part of any metropolitan district; and are part of the Bromsgrove district of Worcestershire; part of Frankley was added to Birmingham and is now known as New Frankley in Birmingham

Halesowen and Rowley Regis is a constituency in the West Midlands represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2010 by James Morris, a Conservative.

Halesowen ( haylz-OH-in) is a market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, in the county of West Midlands, England. Historically an exclave of Shropshire and, from 1844, in Worcestershire, the town is around 7 miles (11 km) from Birmingham city centre, and 6 miles (10 km) from Dudley town centre. The population of the town, as measured by the United Kingdom Census 2011, was 58,135. Halesowen is included in the Halesowen and Rowley Regis constituency which is held by the Conservative James Morris.

Richmond School for Boys was founded and built on Richmond Street as one of two new secondary schools located in Halesowen, West Midlands, England. Richmond School for Boys and its twin Walton School for Girls were built during the 1930s as segregated Secondary modern schools to serve the expanding Black Country town of Halesowen. In September 1985 Richmond Boys School along with the nearby Walton Girls School merged to form a single school for both boys and girls which was to be housed within the former Richmond School for Boys site, which was renamed, and known today as Windsor High School. The school initially opened to pupils aged 11 upwards, before becoming a 13-18 comprehensive in September 1972 when three-tier education was introduced in Halesowen. Another reorganisation in September 1982 saw the age range altered to 11-16, with two younger year groups being added but the sixth form being closed as all of Halesowen's sixth form facilities were relocated to an expanded Halesowen College. Expansion to the existing Richmond School buildings accommodated the now increased intake of pupils, while the former Walton School for Girls located on Highfields Lane became a second campus forming part of Halesowen College for 18 years before being demolished in 2002 to be redeveloped for housing.
