Munich-Berg am Laim station

The Hochhaus Süddeutscher Verlag (short: SV-Hochhaus, Hochhaus = high-rise building) in Munich houses the headquarters of said publishing house, Süddeutsche Zeitung and the German School of Journalism. It is located in the commercial area of the Zamdorf neighborhood, part of the Berg am Laim district, between the A 94 motorway and the Berg am Laim S-Bahn station. Designed by Oliver Kühn of Berlins’ GKK+Architekten, it was initially planned to be 145 meters high, but had to be redesigned after a Munich citizens' initiative called for a height limit of 100 meters outside the Mittlerer Ring circular road. The skyscraper now reaches an architectural height of 103.00 m and a height (roof) of 99.95 m. The building has 28 floors above ground. In total, it has a floor area of 78,400 m², with 51,200 m² above ground and 27,200 m² below ground. Since the gross floor area was not to change as a result of the re-planning, the high-rise became much lower, but a lot wider, than in the original design. There is also an underground car park with 553 parking spaces in the basement. Since 1985, the publishing house's print shop has been located across the street from Hultschiner Straße. The high-rise was built by Hochtief AG as the general contractor. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on January 24, 2006, the laying of the foundation stone was on May 19, 2006 and the topping-out ceremony took place on July 20, 2007. In December 2007, the Süddeutscher Verlag sold the building to the Munich pre-REIT company Prime Office and leased it back for 15 years. In November 2008, the publishing house moved from the iconic Schwarzes Haus (München) in Munich's old town to the high-rise building. The publishing house has 1850 jobs there. In 2010, the building was the first office building in Germany to receive the LEED gold certificate for its climate and energy concept.

St Michael in Berg am Laim is a church in Munich, Bavaria, built from 1738 to 1751 by Johann Michael Fischer as Court Church for Elector and Archbishop Clemens August of Cologne, a brother of Emperor Charles. Clemens August owned Berg am Laim as a manor. It was also served by the Military Order of Saint Michael until 1837 and by the Archbrotherhood of Saint Michaeluntil today. The Catholic church is one of the chief works of the Bavarian rococo period.

The Bavarian State Mint is a European mint located in the city of Munich. It is one of the four German coin mints, the others being the Staatliche Münzen Baden-Württemberg, the Staatliche Münze Berlin, and the Hamburgische Münze. All coins from the BCM contain a 'D' mint mark for tracking purposes. The Bavarian State Mint has been in operation since 1871 CE.

The Albrecht Knaus Verlag (also Knaus Verlag, the company's preferred spelling is KNAUS) is a German publisher of fiction and nonfiction based in Munich. It was founded in 1978 and is now part of the Random House publishing group. The publisher became known mainly through the works of Walter Kempowski.

The Zamilapark is a park- and residential area in Munich Zamdorf. It was built between 1983 and 1991 by Bayerische Hausbau and adjoins to the tracks of the Munich North Ring and Munich East–Munich Airport railway. Not far from the park is the S-Bahn-Station Daglfing. In the center of the park is a small lake, called Zamilasee. Michaelibad is an underground station of the Munich U-Bahn. The station is located at Heinrich-Wieland-Straße and is named after the nearby natatorium and water park Michaelibad, which used to be a training location for the 1972 Summer Olympics. Today the U5 line runs here and the U7 reinforcement line since 12 December 2011, which only runs during rush hours. Until the opening of the U2 to the Munich trade fair, the station was a junction for the development of the Munich East. The bus station was closed in 2005. The station looks similar to the other stations of the line with green wall panels and columns, covered with green ceramic tiles. A special feature is the ramp leading to the east to the barricade floor. The ceiling is covered with aluminium slats. Formerly four, today two light bands run along the platform.

Munich Leuchtenbergring is a railway station on the Munich–Salzburg line in the Bogenhausen quarter of Munich, Germany. It is an elevated station above the Leuchtenbergring, part of Munich's Mittlerer Ring road system. The station serves both the Eastern part of Bogenhausen (north of the railway tracks) and the western part of Berg am Laim (south of the tracks).
