St Michael's on Wyre is a village on the Fylde, in the Borough of Wyre, in Lancashire, England; it lies on the River Wyre. The village is centred on the church of St Michael's, which was founded before 640 AD. It is in the civil parish of Upper Rawcliffe with Tarnacre, which had a population in 2001 of 604.

Nateby is a village and a civil parish in the Wyre district, in the English county of Lancashire near the town of Garstang. Nateby has a primary school, a place of worship and a post office. It once had a railway station called Nateby railway station, but the station closed on 31 March 1930. In 2001 the parish had a population of 475, increasing to 584 at the 2011 census.The manor belongs to the executors of the late R. Thompson, Esq. The admiral and MP Roger Strickland was the second son of Walter Strickland of Nateby Hall.

Kirkland is a civil parish, located on the banks of the River Wyre, midway between Preston and Lancaster, in the English county of Lancashire. It is also the historic name of what is now the village of Churchtown, within the parish. It is part of the Wyre district. In 2001 the parish had a population of 343, decreasing to 314 at the 2011 census.Kirkland has a long history centred on its Grade I listed building, St Helen's, the parish church of Garstang St Helen (or Churchtown) and once known as the Cathedral of the Fylde. The church features: a "lepers' window" or "squint" to enable those unfortunates an opportunity to attend its services; a grave marker for the village's only victim of the Black Plague; a large rafter, once known as the "new beam", supposedly presented to the parish by King Henry VIII at the time of the Reformation.There are significant pointers such as a circular churchyard with several yew trees to its original use as a Druid temple. It was believed by some that the area may have been the site where Christian missionaries from Ireland first set foot in Lancashire at the end of the navigational portion of the River Wyre which flows to the Irish Sea some 14 miles (23 km) away. St Helen's is one of only two Grade I listed buildings in the Borough of Wyre.Although known as "The Cross", the village has an 18th-century Grade II listed dialpost with a sundial at its head, at the top of Church Street. There used to be two pubs: the Punchbowl and the Horns Inn. The Punchbowl has now closed. Kirkland was once a township in the ancient parish of Garstang. This became a civil parish in 1866, forming part of the Garstang Rural District from 1894 till 1974. It has since become part of the Borough of Wyre. Along with Great Eccleston, Out Rawcliffe, Inskip-with-Sowerby and Upper Rawcliffe-with-Tarnacre, Kirkland forms part of the Great Eccleston ward of Wyre Borough Council.

Inskip is a small village in the Fylde area of Lancashire, England. It is part of the civil parish of Inskip-with-Sowerby. The village is close to the former RNAS Inskip airfield, which still serves the armed forces as a tri-service communication centre. It is home to one of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets training centres.

Inskip-with-Sowerby is a civil parish in the Borough of Wyre, in Lancashire, England. A part of the Fylde, the parish includes the village of Inskip and the hamlets Crossmoor to the west and Sowerby to the east. Also Inskip Moss Side lies about a mile north-west of the village at grid reference SD452391. In 2011 it had a population of 840. The parish adjoins the Wyre parishes of Great Eccleston, Upper Rawcliffe-with-Tarnacre and Myerscough and Bilsborrow, along with Woodplumpton in the City of Preston and also Treales, Roseacre and Wharles and Elswick in the Borough of Fylde.

Wyre is a local government district with borough status on the coast of Lancashire, England. The council is based in Poulton-le-Fylde and the borough also contains the towns of Cleveleys, Fleetwood, Garstang, Preesall and Thornton, along with numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. Some of the borough's built-up areas form part of the wider Blackpool urban area. Eastern parts of the borough lie within the Forest of Bowland, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The borough is named after the River Wyre, which runs through the area and meets the sea at Fleetwood. There are no road or rail connections between the parts of the borough either side of the Wyre estuary, and it is necessary to cross the neighbouring Fylde district in order to travel between the two parts of Wyre, or else use the Wyre Estuary Ferry between Fleetwood and Knott End. The neighbouring districts are Blackpool, Fylde, Preston, Ribble Valley and Lancaster.

The Amounderness Hundred ( ə-MUN-dər-nəs) is one of the six subdivisions of the historic county of Lancashire in North West England, but the name is older than the system of hundreds first recorded in the 13th century and might best be described as the name of a Norse wapentake. In the Domesday Book of 1086, it was used for some territories north of the River Ribble included together with parts of Yorkshire. The area eventually became part of Lancashire, sitting geographically between the Rivers Lune and Ribble, in the strip of coast between the Irish Sea and Bowland Forest.

Nateby railway station served the village Nateby in Lancashire, England. It was originally named Winmarleigh railway station after the landowner at that time and was renamed after his death in 1902. Originally only a halt with the platform on the southern side of the line, it received a passing loop in 1909 and a second platform on the northern side, and by 1910 it also had a goods siding with a cattle dock. Passenger services were withdrawn in 1930, and the station closed altogether in 1950.

Royal Naval Air Station Inskip (RNAS Inskip, also known as HMS Nightjar), was a Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm airbase near the village of Inskip, Lancashire, England. It saw considerable aircrew training activity towards the end of the Second World War. In the 1960s and 70s it was a Royal Navy transmitting station known as HMS Inskip. It is now a military high frequency radio transmitting station known as MOD Inskip.
