Grosse Pointe Township was a civil township of Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. Originally including all of the Grosse Pointe communities, and the northeastern portion of the City of Detroit, in its later years, it was reduced to the portion of the village of Grosse Pointe Shores that was in Wayne County. The township was created in 1848 with the division of Hamtramck Township. On February 24, 2009, the residents of Grosse Pointe Shores voted to incorporate as a city ending the existence of the township.

Grosse Pointe North High School is a public high school in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. North is a four-year comprehensive high school with an enrollment of around 1,400 and expected 2016 graduating class of 350. Classes are in session for 182 days per year and the school day is from 8:00 AM to 3:05 PM. The principal is Kate Murray; she won the 2015 Educators Voice Award. The assistant principals are Katy Vernier, Michelle Davis, and Geoffrey Harris Young. Davis is also the school's athletic director.North consistently ranks among the nation's best high schools. North is ranked the 11th best public high school in Michigan on the 2017 Niche rankings. On The Washington Post's list of most challenging high schools, North is #14 in Michigan. Newsweek's list of top high schools places North #487 nationally.The school opened in 1968 after Grosse Pointe High School was split into two schools, and Grosse Pointe North took the northern side of Grosse Pointe's students and Northeastern Harper Woods' students. It is a member of the Grosse Pointe Public School System.

The Grosse Pointe Yacht Club (GPYC) is a private yacht club located on the shore of Lake St. Clair in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan. The club is a member of the Detroit Regional Yacht-racing Association (DRYA). The clubhouse is prominently visible and a well-known landmark along the shoreline of the lake north of Detroit.

The W. Hawkins Ferry House, or William Hawkins Ferry House, is a private house located at 874 Lake Shore Road in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.

Grosse Pointe Shores (officially Village of Grosse Pointe Shores) is a city in Wayne and Macomb counties in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,647 at the 2020 census, down from 3,008 in 2010.Grosse Pointe Shores was incorporated as a village in 1911 and was part of Grosse Pointe Township in Wayne County and Lake Township in Macomb County. Both townships became defunct with the village incorporated as a city in 2009. It is a northeastern suburb of Metro Detroit and is the northernmost city included into the Grosse Pointe area. Located along the shores of Lake St. Clair, the city is well known as the location of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House and the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club.

Our Lady Star of the Sea, commonly called Star of the Sea, was an all-girl Catholic high school, established in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan in 1959.When the high closed in 1993, the parish middle school began using the building.

Grosse Pointe Woods is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 16,135 at the 2010 census.The city is a northeastern suburb of Metro Detroit and shares a small southern border with the city of Detroit. It is part of the Grosse Pointe collection of cities and the only one without a waterfront on Lake St. Clair.

University Liggett School, also known as Liggett, is a private, independent, secular school in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, United States. Founded in 1878, it is Michigan's oldest independent coeducational day school.The school teaches grades PreK3 through twelve on one campus, consolidating its two campuses to one in the fall of 2012. According to the school, over 50 zip codes in Southeastern Michigan are represented by its student population. Over $2 million in merit- and need-based financial aid is awarded to new and returning students annually.

Lake Township is a former civil township located in Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The small township consisted of 0.6 mi2 (1.7 km2) of the Macomb County portion of the village of Grosse Pointe Shores, which was part of Grosse Pointe Township and mostly located in Wayne County on the western shores of Lake Saint Clair. At the 2000 census, the township population was 80. On February 24, 2009, the residents of the village of Grosse Pointe Shores voted to incorporate as a city, effectively disestablishing Lake and Grosse Pointe townships when the city was formally established on April 1, 2009.At one point, the area of Lake Township was part of the former Erin Township.

The Edsel and Eleanor Ford House is a mansion located at 1100 Lake Shore Drive in Grosse Pointe Shores, northeast of Detroit, Michigan; it stands on the site known as "Gaukler Point", on the shore of Lake St. Clair. The house became the new residence of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford family in 1928. Edsel Ford was the son of Henry Ford and an executive at Ford Motor Company. The estate's buildings were designed by architect Albert Kahn, its site plan and gardens by renowned landscape designer Jens Jensen. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2016.

Country Club of Detroit, founded in 1897, is a private country club in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. The architectural firm of Smith Hinchman & Grylls, known today as the SmithGroup, designed the Tudor Revival styled country club in 1927. H. S. Colt redesigned the country club's original golf course—designed by Bert Way—in 1912 and his partner Charles Alison later modified the design. In 1952, the club commissioned Robert Trent Jones, Sr. to complete a full redesign, and in 2011, the club fully renovated the course. in order to return to the original Colt and Alison design with a slightly updated interpretation.Country Club of Detroit has twice hosted the U.S. Amateur, first in 1915 where Robert A. Gardner won and again in 1954 when Arnold Palmer won his first USGA title. In 2004 the Country Club of Detroit hosted Turning Point Invitational, which brought many past U.S. Amateur champions together to compete including Phil Mickelson and Mark O'Meara. The course hosted the 66th U.S. Senior Amateur in 2021.

The Milk River is a 1.7-mile-long (2.7 km) stream in Wayne County and Macomb County, Michigan, flowing into Lake St. Clair. It flows through the cities of Harper Woods,Grosse Pointe Woods and St. Clair Shores. Over half of the river is now underground including the low, inland area of the once swampy Black Marsh Ditch. The decision to contain and bury the river was made August 18, 1955 at a Draining Board Meeting of officials from the State of Michigan, Macomb County, and Oakland County. Now only open to the air past the Milk River Pump Station on Parkway Drive.
