Grosse Pointe Woods is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 16,135 at the 2010 census.The city is a northeastern suburb of Metro Detroit and shares a small southern border with the city of Detroit. It is part of the Grosse Pointe collection of cities and the only one without a waterfront on Lake St. Clair.

Our Lady Star of the Sea, commonly called Star of the Sea, was an all-girl Catholic high school, established in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan in 1959.When the high closed in 1993, the parish middle school began using the building.

Country Club of Detroit, founded in 1897, is a private country club in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. The architectural firm of Smith Hinchman & Grylls, known today as the SmithGroup, designed the Tudor Revival styled country club in 1927. H. S. Colt redesigned the country club's original golf course—designed by Bert Way—in 1912 and his partner Charles Alison later modified the design. In 1952, the club commissioned Robert Trent Jones, Sr. to complete a full redesign, and in 2011, the club fully renovated the course. in order to return to the original Colt and Alison design with a slightly updated interpretation.Country Club of Detroit has twice hosted the U.S. Amateur, first in 1915 where Robert A. Gardner won and again in 1954 when Arnold Palmer won his first USGA title. In 2004 the Country Club of Detroit hosted Turning Point Invitational, which brought many past U.S. Amateur champions together to compete including Phil Mickelson and Mark O'Meara. The course hosted the 66th U.S. Senior Amateur in 2021.

Grosse Pointe North High School is a public high school in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. North is a four-year comprehensive high school with an enrollment of around 1,400 and expected 2016 graduating class of 350. Classes are in session for 182 days per year and the school day is from 8:00 AM to 3:05 PM. The principal is Kate Murray; she won the 2015 Educators Voice Award. The assistant principals are Katy Vernier, Michelle Davis, and Geoffrey Harris Young. Davis is also the school's athletic director.North consistently ranks among the nation's best high schools. North is ranked the 11th best public high school in Michigan on the 2017 Niche rankings. On The Washington Post's list of most challenging high schools, North is #14 in Michigan. Newsweek's list of top high schools places North #487 nationally.The school opened in 1968 after Grosse Pointe High School was split into two schools, and Grosse Pointe North took the northern side of Grosse Pointe's students and Northeastern Harper Woods' students. It is a member of the Grosse Pointe Public School System.

Grosse Pointe Township was a civil township of Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. Originally including all of the Grosse Pointe communities, and the northeastern portion of the City of Detroit, in its later years, it was reduced to the portion of the village of Grosse Pointe Shores that was in Wayne County. The township was created in 1848 with the division of Hamtramck Township. On February 24, 2009, the residents of Grosse Pointe Shores voted to incorporate as a city ending the existence of the township.

Chauvin was a village in Grosse Pointe Township, Michigan in what is now the Hilger Avenue district of Detroit. It had a post office from 1897 until 1908. In 1908 it was annexed by Detroit.

Grosse Pointe Farms is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 10,148 at the 2020 census. As part of the Grosse Pointe collection of cities, it is a northeastern city of Metro Detroit and shares a small western border with the city of Detroit. Grosse Pointe Farms was originally incorporated as a village in 1893 and again as a city in 1949.

The Charles J. and Ingrid V. (Frendberg) Koebel House is a private house located at 203 Cloverly Road in Grosse Pointe Farms. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The John Thompson Woodhouse House is a private house located at 33 Old Brook Ln. in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Austin Catholic Preparatory School was a boys, non–residential, college preparatory Catholic school in Detroit, Michigan. Austin was "one of the city's most widely respected schools." The school was founded in 1951 and operated by the Augustinians. Its first class graduated in 1956. Austin was closed in 1978 due to declining enrollment and a desire by the Augustinians to sell the school's property. Throughout its existence, Austin functioned in an unremarkable, austere, cinder block and brick building on an eleven-acre site at the corner of East Warren Avenue and Canyon Street on the far east side of Detroit, adjacent to the Grosse Pointes. Its spartan facilities included a gymnasium, library, and chapel, but no auditorium, swimming pool, track, or football stadium. Drawing most of its students from Detroit and the eastern suburbs, by its closing Austin had graduated 3,212 young men.

The Carl E. and Alice Candler Schmidt House is a private home located at 301 Lake Shore Rd. in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. Built in 1904, the house is one of the oldest remaining properties in the Grosse Pointes to have a view of Lake Saint Clair.

Harper Woods is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. An inner ring suburb of Detroit, Harper Woods borders Detroit to the north and east, roughly 9 miles (14.5 km) northeast of downtown Detroit. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 15,492.
