Seattle Impact FC was an American professional indoor soccer team that began play as a member of the Major Arena Soccer League with its 2014-15 season. Based in Seattle, Washington, the Impact played its home games at the ShoWare Center in nearby Kent. After struggles on and off the field, the team's assets were sold mid-season to Lane Smith whose Tacoma Stars completed Seattle's scheduled 2015 regular season games.

Blue Origin, LLC is an American privately funded aerospace manufacturer and sub-orbital spaceflight services company headquartered in Kent, Washington. Founded in 2000 by Jeff Bezos, the founder and executive chairman of Amazon, the company is led by CEO Bob Smith and aims to make access to space cheaper and more reliable through reusable launch vehicles. Rob Meyerson led Blue Origin from 2003 to 2017 and served as its first president. Blue Origin is employing an incremental approach from suborbital to orbital flight, with each developmental step building on its prior work. The company's name refers to the blue planet, Earth, as the point of origin.Blue Origin develops orbital technology, rocket-powered vertical takeoff and vertical landing (VTVL) vehicles for access to suborbital and orbital space. Initially focused on suborbital spaceflight, the company developed its New Shepard vehicle at its facilities in Culberson County, Texas, beginning in 2006. On July 20, 2021, the New Shepard performed its first crewed mission into space. The flight was approximately 10 minutes and crossed the Kármán line. Blue Origin moved into the orbital spaceflight technology development business in 2014, initially as a rocket engine supplier for others via a contractual agreement to build a new large rocket engine, the BE-4, for major US launch system operator United Launch Alliance (ULA). Blue Origin said the "BE-4 would be 'ready for flight' by 2017." By 2015, Blue Origin had announced plans to also manufacture and fly its orbital launch vehicle, known as the New Glenn, from the Florida Space Coast. BE-4 had been expected to complete engine qualification testing by late 2018. However, by August 2021, the flight engines for ULA have still not been qualified, and Ars Technica revealed in an in-depth article serious technical and managerial problems in the BE-4 program.In May 2019, Jeff Bezos unveiled Blue Origin's vision for space and also plans for a moon lander known as "Blue Moon", set to be ready by 2024.

O'Brien, Washington was a former community, north of Kent in the Green River Valley of King County in the U.S. state of Washington. It was just north of today's Green River Natural Resources Area, on the right bank of the river. At one time, it had a post office and a school.The community was named after Terrance O'Brien, the original owner of the town site.

Kent station is a train station in the city of Kent, Washington, United States, served by the S Line of the Sounder commuter rail network. It is located in downtown Kent and consists of two train platforms connected via a pedestrian overpass, a parking garage, and several bus bays. The station also has 996 parking stalls and is served by King County Metro and Sound Transit Express buses. Train service to Kent began in 2001 and the station's garage opened the following year. King County Metro began service from the bus bays in 2005, after a third phase of construction. Sound Transit plans to build a second parking garage in 2024 to accommodate additional demand at the station.

Cottonwood Grove Park is a .77-acre (0.31-hectare) park in the city of Kent, Washington. It is located on the banks of the Green River off Frager Road, at approximately the 23800 block South. In March 1986, remains from a victim of serial killer Gary Ridgway (the Green River Killer) were found in the park.

It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma–Bellevue metropolitan area and had a population of 136,588 as of the 2020 census, making it the fourth-largest municipality in greater Seattle and the sixth-largest in Washington state. The city is connected to Seattle, Bellevue and Tacoma via State Route 167 and Interstate 5, Sounder commuter rail, and commuter buses. Incorporated in 1890, Kent is the second-oldest incorporated city in King County, after Seattle. It is generally divided into three areas: West Hill (mixed residential and commercial along Interstate 5), Valley (primarily industrial and commercial with some medium-density residential; significant parkland along Green River), and East Hill (primarily residential with retail).

The Mill Creek Canyon Earthworks is a public park, storm water detention dam and Modernist "masterpiece" of environmental art located in Kent, Washington, United States. The earthworks was created by Bauhaus artist Herbert Bayer in 1982 and designated a landmark by King County Landmarks Commission in 2008. The earthworks site covers 2.5 acres (1.0 ha).In 2008, the earthworks was upgraded to handle a 10,000-year flood by raising the dam approximately 2 feet (0.61 m).

Robert Morris Earthwork is a 1979 public art earthworks installation in Seatac, Washington by Robert Morris. The area surrounding the piece, a former gravel pit overlooking the Kent Valley outside of Seattle, has rapidly filled in with urban growth, leading to efforts to both protect it and to enhance public access and enjoyment. The earthwork was the result of a King County government symposium titled Earthworks: Land Reclamation as Sculpture. The same symposium also gave impetus to the creation of Mill Creek Canyon Earthworks. According to the former director of public art for the city and county, the two pieces are the major earthworks in King County; according to 4Culture, the piece is of "international importance". The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.

Lake Fenwick is located in King County, Washington, mostly within the city of Kent. The lake is known for its recreational opportunities including fishing and a large public park. The lake has suffered from poor water quality, algae, and infestation by aquatic weeds. Fenwick fishing rods are named after the lake.

Orillia, Washington was a former community, southwest of Renton in the Green River Valley of King County in the U.S. state of Washington. At one time, it had a schoolhouse. Today it lies on the border between the cities of Kent, Tukwila and Renton. A post office called Orillia was established in 1887, and remained in operation until 1964. The community was named after Orillia, Ontario, Canada, the native home of an early settler. In 1959, the cities of Kent and Renton annexed the community.Red Badgro was born in Orillia.
