Fontibón

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Fontibón (Latin: Fontibonensis) is a diocese located in the city of Fontibón in the Ecclesiastical province of Bogotá in Colombia.

The St. James the Apostle Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral de Santiago Apóstol) Also Fontibón Cathedral Officially the Parish Cathedral of St. James the Apostle of Fontibón, is a cathedral church of Catholic worship consecrated under the patronage of the St. James the Apostle in Fontibón, in the South American country of Colombia. It is the Cathedral Church of the Diocese of Fontibón and, therefore, seat of the titular Bishop. It is a Spanish Colonial style building located in the eastern corner of the main park of the town of Fontibón of Bogotá, in the 18th street with 99 street. The cathedral occupies the whole block together with the Casa Cural, the Episcopal Curia and the Parish School. The building is the highest structure in the area. Was rebuilt between 1621 and 1632, being restored between 1945 and 1955.

Capellanía (Spanish: Humedal de Capellanía) is a wetland situated in the locality of Fontibón as one of the Wetlands of Bogotá, Colombia. It forms part of the Fucha River basin on the Bogotá savanna. Since 1995, it has been split into two due to the construction of the Avenida La Esperanza. This has caused rapid deterioration and the wetland is likely to disappear because of the industries that surround it, the current transportation projects of the area, and future developments approved by the district. The wetland covers 27 hectares (67 acres).

On 7 June 2025, Miguel Uribe Turbay, a senator and pre-candidate in the 2026 Colombian presidential election, was killed during a rally at El Golfito Park in the neighbourhood of Modelia, part of the locality of Fontibón, in Bogotá, Colombia. He was hospitalised in critical condition and died two months later, on 11 August 2025.

El Dorado International Airport (IATA: BOG, ICAO: SKBO) is an international airport serving Bogotá, Colombia and its surrounding areas. The airport is located mostly in the Fontibón district of Bogotá, although it partially extends into the Engativá district and the municipality of Funza in the Western Savanna Province of the Cundinamarca Department. It served over 35 million passengers in 2019 and 740,000 metric tons of cargo in 2018, making it the second busiest airport in South America in terms of passenger traffic and the busiest in terms of cargo traffic. El Dorado is also by far the busiest and most important airport in Colombia, accounting for just under half (49%) of the country's air traffic.El Dorado is a hub for the Colombian flag-carrier Avianca and subsidiaries Avianca Express and Avianca Cargo; LATAM Colombia; Satena; Wingo; and a number of other cargo airlines. It is owned by the Government of Colombia and operated by Operadora Aeroportuaria Internacional (OPAIN), a consortium composed of Colombian construction and engineering firms, and the Swiss company Flughafen Zürich AG, the company that operates Zurich Airport. The airport has been named the best airport in South America by World Airport Awards. El Dorado received four-star certification from and its staff was rated the best in South America by Skytrax, as well as achieving 42nd place in Skytrax's World's Top 100 Airports in 2017.

Meandro del Say is a wetland, part of the wetlands of Bogotá. It spans the locality Fontibón of Bogotá and the eastern part of Mosquera, Cundinamarca. Meandro del Say is located close to the Bogotá River with a total area of 13.6 hectares (34 acres). The Avenida Centenario borders the wetland in the northeast. Meandro de Say is situated in the Fucha River basin.

Air Command for Military Transportation (English for Comando Aéreo de Transporte Militar, CATAM) is major military airfield for the use of the Colombian Air Force. Is located in the outskirts of Bogotá within the vicinity of El Dorado International Airport.

Techo is a neighbourhood (barrio) of Bogotá, Colombia, part of the locality Kennedy. It contains a wetland of the same name, part of the Wetlands of Bogotá, Colombia. The wetland covers about 11 hectares (27 acres).

Techo (Spanish: Humedal del Techo) is a wetland, part of the Wetlands of Bogotá, located in the neighbourhood Techo in the locality Kennedy, Bogotá, Colombia. The wetland on the Bogotá savanna covers an area of about 11.6 hectares (29 acres). Techo is located in the basins of the Bogotá River and its main tributaries Fucha and Tunjuelo.

Kennedy, or Ciudad Kennedy, is the eighth locality of Bogotá, capital of Colombia. It is located in the southwest of the city and is the second most populous being home to 14% of the city's residents. This district is mostly inhabited by working and low income residents.

El Burro (Spanish: Humedal El Burro) is a wetland, part of the Wetlands of Bogotá, in the locality Kennedy, Bogotá, Colombia. The wetland on the Bogotá savanna covers about 19 hectares (47 acres) and is crossed by the Avenida Ciudad de Cali.

The El Tintal Manuel Zapata Olivella Public Library, part of BibloRed, is located in the west of Bogotá, Colombia, on Ciudad de Cali Avenue. It was designed by the architect Daniel Bermúdez. Formerly, it operated as a waste and garbage treatment plant, Protecho, owned by the company EDIS, but it was abandoned. Its construction began in 1998 and was completed in 2002.
