Bixley Heath

The Ipswich Transport Museum is a museum in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, devoted principally to the history of transport and engineering objects made or used in its local area. The museum collection was started by the Ipswich Transport Preservation Group in 1965. In 1988 it obtained use of its present premises, the old Priory Heath trolleybus depot in Cobham Road, and has been opened to the public since 1995. Its collection of more than 100 large objects includes buses trams, trolley- and motor-buses from Ipswich Corporation Transport, the Eastern Counties Omnibus Company and other local operators; commercial vehicles; fire apparatus; mobile cranes; bicycles; biers; horse-drawn vehicles; prams; and wheelchairs. There is a good representation of the Ipswich manufacturers Ransomes, Sims & Jefferies and Ransomes & Rapier and of electric vehicles. Local rail and waterway transport and aviation are represented mainly by photographic collections and smaller exhibits. The Museum also houses an archive and library together with costume and ticket collections. The Museum is a registered charity, and is normally open to visitors on Sundays (11am to 4pm) from April to November; and on weekday afternoons during school holidays (1pm to 4pm). It also organises occasional events including the annual Ipswich to Felixstowe Run for vintage vehicles on the first Sunday in May, from Christchurch Park, Ipswich to the Promenade in Felixstowe.

Ipswich Golf Club is a members club based in Ipswich, Suffolk. It maintains the Purdis Heath course. The club was founded in 1895 with its original course on common land, part of Rushmere Common. However it was not until 1928 that the Purdis Heath course was opened. The course was designed by James Braid. The course is 6,431 yards long with a par of 71. The club hosted the Ladies' British Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship twice, in 1973 when Anne Stant won with Mary Everard as runner up and in 1987 when it was won by Linda Bayman with Jill Thornhill and Nicola Way as runners-up.

Ransomes Industrial Estate, also known as Ransomes Europark is combined retail and business park located in Priory Heath Ward, Ipswich, on the southeastern edge of Ipswich in Suffolk, UK. It takes its name from Ransomes, Sims & Jefferies, which still maintains a presence on the park. Predominantly the park consists of light industrial and logistics companies, although there is a growing number of retailers and offices including the head office for KDM International and MSC UK. In February 2008 it was announced that IKEA are in talks to take on part of the estate occupied by Crane Fluid Systems for a new store.

Ipswich Academy (formerly Holywells High School) is a mixed secondary school in Ipswich, Suffolk for students aged 11 to 16. Since September 2010, it has been an Academy. It has the capacity for over 1,300 students but had around 900 as of 2021. It has a large sports complex and a large multipurpose sports pitch.It has a large indoor sports facility. It also has a main area with a library with a Sixth Form block, and it is building new ball game courts on one of the surrounding fields.

Ipswich Airport (IATA: IPW, ICAO: EGSE) was an airfield on the outskirts of Ipswich, Suffolk England. It was known as RAF Nacton when No. 3619 Fighter Control Unit of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force were based there.

Ravenswood is a district within Ipswich, in the Ipswich district, in the county of Suffolk, England. It is sited on the old Ipswich Airport to the south-east of the town. The area has grown rapidly due to private housing development. The old airport building has been transformed into small flats, and part of the terminal has been redeveloped for commercial purposes. 1172 homes have been built on the site so far, with a few hundred more to be built in the coming years, along with a planned sports park. The estate is bound to the north by Nacton Road, bound to the west and south west by Gainsborough Sports Centre and the Orwell County Park. It is also bound to the south by the A14 and a disused airport access road.

Purdis Farm is a civil parish, in the East Suffolk district, in the English county of Suffolk. It is located on the eastern edge of Ipswich and includes areas of suburban housing and industrial development along the A1156, including the area of Warren Heath. In 2001 the population of the area was 1743, the population increasing to 2,092 at the 2011 Census.The Suffolk County Showground is located within the parish at Trinity Park, as are areas of farmland, part of Ipswich Golf Club and open areas such as part of Bixley Heath, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The Suffolk Sandlings Walk passes through the area.

The North East Area, Ipswich is one of five administrative areas in Ipswich, through which Ipswich Borough Council divides its spending and enables feedback from local residents, businesses and community groups.The area is composed of three wards, each represented by three councillors. Each ward is also a Middle Layer Super Output Area (MSOA). As of the 2019 Ipswich Borough Council election, the councillors are as follows: These Councillors form the North East Area Committee of which Shelly (Michelle) Darwin is the chair. Three Suffolk County Council Councillors are co-opted members of the committee. The divisions they represent are either fully or partially in the South East Area: The area is also covered by a Neighbourhood Watch network which comprises 35 neighbourhood watch schemes.

Sandlings is a 5.7 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Rushmere St Andrew, on the eastern outskirts of Ipswich in Suffolk. It is owned by East Suffolk council, and managed by the council together with Rushmere St Andrew Parish Council and the Greenways Countryside Project.This site has acid grassland, a wildflower meadow and areas of scrub. Nearly 70 species of bird have been observed and 22 of butterfly, including the white-letter hairstreak.There is access from Ditchingham Grove.

Copleston High School is a secondary school for ages 11–18 in Ipswich, England. It is an academy, and caters for around 1,800 students, as well as between 340-370 students in the sixth form which was shared with Holywells High School until 2011. A 2009 Ofsted inspection rated its overall performance as good with outstanding features. A following Ofsted inspection in 2018 awarded them with a 'good' rating.

The Ipswich Racecourse is an area of Ipswich in Suffolk, England, that was formerly a racecourse from 1710 to 1911.
