Graylands Hospital

Irwin Barracks is an Australian Army military base located in Karrakatta, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It occupies a 62-hectare (150-acre) site on the western side of the Fremantle railway line.It was previously known as Karrakatta Camp and Irwin Training Centre.

John XXIII College is a Roman Catholic co-educational primary and secondary day school located in Mount Claremont, a western suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The school provides education from kindergarten to Year 12 students and operates under the authority of the Catholic Archbishop of Perth. The college is the result of the merger in 1977 of the Jesuit Saint Louis boys school spread over different campuses (first opened in 1938) and Loreto Convent girls school (first opened in 1897). In 1986 the school was relocated to its present site in Mount Claremont.

Mount Claremont, known previously as Graylands, is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the Town of Cambridge and the City of Nedlands. Graylands underwent significant changes in the 1950s, with the post war downgrading of military and migrant facilities in the area.

Graylands Teachers College was a primary teacher education institution, established in 1955 in Mount Claremont (which was called Graylands at the time) in Western Australia. It became the second teachers' college to be established in the state after Claremont Teachers College, with three others established subsequently. Built on a former World War II army barracks site, most of the buildings were corrugated iron and asbestos structures which had only been intended to operate for about five years. The college was run by the Education Department until 1973, when it became an autonomous body under the umbrella of the Western Australian Teacher Education Authority. Graylands closed in 1979 following the Partridge Report on post-secondary education in the State, which recommended that the other colleges combine to form the West Australian College of Advanced Education and, as far as possible, absorb Graylands' resources, staff and students.The archives for the college are held at Edith Cowan University. Graylands Teachers College Memorial Scholarships are awarded to "outstanding students in the field of education" at Edith Cowan University in memory of the college.Notable former students include cricketer Kim Hughes, politician Don Randall and writer Dorothy Hewett.

Karrakatta railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network in Western Australia. It is located on the Airport line and Fremantle line, 7.4 kilometres (4.6 mi) from Perth station serving the suburb of Karrakatta.

Swanbourne Hospital is a heritage listed former mental hospital located in Mount Claremont, Western Australia. Built in 1904, it was the largest stand-alone psychiatric hospital in Western Australia for much of the twentieth century until its closure in September 1972. The hospital was originally known as Claremont Hospital for the Insane, Claremont Mental Hospital and Claremont Hospital. Following the closure of Claremont Hospital in 1972, the original 1904 section of the hospital functioned as the Swanbourne Hospital until 1985. The site was vacant from 1986, until renovated and reopened primarily as an aged care residence in 2018.The 2.48-hectare (6.1-acre) site contains buildings of significant heritage value, including Montgomery Hall, which used to be the second largest theatre venue in Perth.

Loch Street railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network. It is located on the Fremantle and Airport lines, eight kilometres from Perth station serving the suburbs of Claremont, Mount Claremont and Karrakatta.

Karrakatta Cemetery is a metropolitan cemetery in the suburb of Karrakatta in Perth, Western Australia. Karrakatta Cemetery first opened for burials in 1899, the first being that of wheelwright Robert Creighton. Managed by the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board, the cemetery attracts more than one million visitors each year. Cypress trees located near the main entrance are a hallmark of Karrakatta Cemetery. The cemetery contains a crematorium, and in 1995 Western Australia's first mausoleum opened at the site.The entrance (known as the Waiting House) includes a structure designed by George Temple-Poole.

Karrakatta is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Nedlands and 7 km west of the central business district. Its postcode is 6010. Karrakatta is composed of two distinct areas, due to the Fremantle railway line passing through the suburb. On the south side is Karrakatta Cemetery, which began service in 1899, with a small industrial area occupied by monument builders, associated companies and the depot for City of Nedlands. The other area north of the railway line and Karrakatta railway station is occupied by the Australian Defence Force's Irwin Army Barracks.

UWA Sports Park is a multi-purpose sporting and recreation reserve in Mount Claremont, Western Australia. It is located on 56 hectares of land approximately 10 km west of Perth and is owned by the University of Western Australia.The park provides sporting facilities for Australian rules football, Rugby union, soccer, and field hockey as well as baseball, softball and tennis. The park has clubhouse and changing room facilities and the fields have lighting suitable for hosting night time sports events. The land that UWA Sports Park is situated on was gifted to the university by the Government of Western Australia in 1904.Clubs based at UWA Sports Park as of 2014 include: UWAAC Athletics Club (founded 1928) UBSC University Baseball and Softball Club (founded 1947) UWA Hockey Club (est. 1924) UWA Rugby Club (founded 1929) UWA Tennis Club (est. 1914) UWA Football Club (founded 1911, Australian rules football - PFL) UWA Nedlands Football Club (founded 1949, Association football)UWA Sports Park was also the main home ground in Perth to host National Rugby Championship matches; for the Perth Spirit (2014–2017) and Western Force (2018–2019).

Perth Superdrome, known as HBF Stadium under a commercial naming rights arrangement, is a sports complex in Perth, Western Australia. It is home to the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS). The venue is located in the suburb of Mount Claremont, approximately 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) west of Perth's central business district. The complex was opened in 1986. It received its current name through a naming-rights sponsorship deal with the HBF Health Fund in 2014. Although the previous sponsorship with Challenge Bank expired in 2002, the Challenge Stadium name remained in use until 2014.Facilities include an Olympic-standard aquatic centre with five pools, a diving tower, gymnasium, two arenas, and several basketball courts, as well as a café, childcare centre, sports store, office accommodation and a museum. The main indoor arena has seating for 4,500 spectators, or for over 5,000 people including standing room. Regular exhibitions and expos are hosted at the venue, as well as national and international sporting events.
