Albano (Stockholm)

AlbaNova University Center, Stockholm Center for Physics, Astronomy and Biotechnology is a "research and education initiative run jointly by the Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University." Currently represented subjects include physics, astronomy, biotechnology, and bioinformatics. The center hosts the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics (NORDITA), as well as the House of Science, which aims to convey modern research to the public. The AlbaNova campus was built on the site of the former Roslagstull Hospital, an isolation hospital which closed in 1992, and several of the original hospital buildings have been incorporated into the campus. The main building was designed by Henning Larsen and in year 2001 it was selected as ”Stockholm's most beautiful building”.

The Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, or NORDITA, or Nordita (Danish: Nordisk Institut for Teoretisk Fysik), is an international organisation for research in theoretical physics. It was established as Nordisk Institut for Teoretisk Atomfysik in 1957 by Niels Bohr and the Swedish physicist Torsten Gustafson. Nordita was originally located at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen (Denmark), but moved to the AlbaNova University Centre in Stockholm (Sweden) on 1 January 2007. The main research areas at Nordita are astrophysics, hard and soft condensed matter physics, and high-energy physics.

Stockholm Business School (SBS; Swedish: Företagsekonomiska institutionen) is one of the largest academic departments at Stockholm University with around 3 500 students and 120 researchers/lecturers. SBS offers BSc, MSc programmes along with PhD. Through close ties with other academic departments and regular collaborations with key business actors, the School has become a melting pot for interdisciplinary research and education generating new perspectives on current topics within business and beyond.

Vanadislunden is a park located in the district of Vasastaden in central Stockholm, Sweden.

Experimentalfältet ("the field for experiments") was an area in Frescati in northern Stockholm that was used by the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry from the early 19th Century until the 1960s. In the 1960s its mission was changed, when the new campus of Stockholm University was installed on the fields. The former Roslagsbanan railway station Universitetet used to be called Experimentalfältet but changed its name when the university had been established there. The activities of the Academy of Agriculture and Forestry have been transferred to an area in Ultuna outside Uppsala.

Aula Magna is the largest auditorium at Stockholm University in Sweden, completed in 1998. In addition to the large lecture hall there are smaller meeting and seminar rooms. Outside the lecture hall there is a gallery for reading. The auditorium is used for academic gatherings such as conferences and symposium as well as external functions such as general meetings. Nobel lectures have also been held here.

Stockholm University Library (Swedish: Stockholms universitetsbibliotek) is the research library of the University of Stockholm with one main library and eight unit libraries. Stockholm University Library is one of Sweden's largest research libraries, providing extensive access to e-books and other digital material as well as interlibrary loans. The focus groups are students, researchers and teachers. They have access to the collections of printed as well as online literature, tools for e-publishing of essays, study places, research results and education in information, scientific communication and how to work with references. Stockholm University Library is also a public library with over 1.4 million visitors in 2012.

Bellevue (Bellevueparken) is a park in central Stockholm, Sweden. Bellevue borders to Vasastan and is part of the Royal National City Park.

Wenner-Gren Center is a tower and building complex in Vasastaden, Stockholm, Sweden. The building was constructed 1959–1961, and opened in 1962. The Center consists of three buildings named Helicon, Pylon and Tetragon. Pylon is a high tower, Helicon is a lower semicircular part surrounding the tower, and Tetragon is a box-shaped building next to the tower. Helicon contains housing for visiting scientists to institutions in the Stockholm area, and this part is owned by one of the Wenner-Gren Foundations. The rest of the complex consists of commercial rental space, although some of it is traditionally used by scientific organisations, such as research-granting bodies. The Center is named after the businessman Axel Wenner-Gren, who donated funds to finance its construction, after Nobel Prize winner Hugo Theorell had lobbied for having the housing need of visiting scientists addressed.

Stockholm University (Swedish: Stockholms universitet) is a public research university in Stockholm, Sweden, founded as a college in 1878, with university status since 1960. With over 33,000 students at four different faculties: law, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, it is one of the largest universities in Scandinavia. The institution is regarded as one of the top 100 universities in the world by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).Stockholm University was granted university status in 1960, making it the fourth oldest Swedish university. As with other public universities in Sweden, Stockholm University's mission includes teaching and research anchored in society at large.

Universitetet ("the University") is a Metro station in the Frescati area, close to Stockholm University (Stockholms universitet), and the Museum of Natural History. It was opened on 12 January 1975 as the northern terminus of the extension from Tekniska högskolan. On 29 January 1978, the line was extended north to Mörby centrum.Since the 1990s, the art on the station consists of tiles featuring Carl von Linné and the UN Declaration of Universal Human Rights. This artwork is by Belgian and Parisian artist Françoise Schein. The station includes 12 large tiles panels all dedicated to the travels of Linné around the Baltic. The artist used the travels as the starting point to develop the theme of nature and the ecological problems we are all living now in the world. The work was created in Lisbon on azulejos tiles, then brought to Stockholm. It represents in its conception and its production a real European work of art. Not far from the station is the Universitetet railway station and several bus lines.

Clas på Hörnet is a hotel and restaurant on Surbrunnsgatan in Vasastan, Stockholm, Sweden, located to the northeast of the Stockholm School of Economics. It was founded by restaurateur Christer von Arnold in 1984. The building itself was originally the Browallshof inn, founded by Clas Browall in 1731. The 18th-century inn is famous in history as it is frequently mentioned in the poetry of Carl Michael Bellman.
