South Hampstead High School

Hyme House, at 3 Fitzjohn's Avenue, Hampstead, England (1), was the London home of society portrait painter Philip de László. He painted many of his portraits at sittings in the studio and gardens of Hyme House. Sitters included royalty, celebrities, businesspeople and politicians from the 1920s and 1930s (2)(4). The house was built in 1886; de Laszlo and his wife, heiress Lucy Guinness (3), lived there from 1921 to 1937. In 1938 the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross, a Catholic Religious Order, acquired Hyme House and later took over the villas at numbers 5 and 7. The Order linked the three villas into a girls' school, which operated up until 1985 (3). The house then became the Fitzjohn's Lodge Hotel (3).

The Anna Freud Centre (now renamed the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families) is a child mental health research, training and treatment centre located in London, United Kingdom. The Centre aims to transform current mental health provision in the UK by improving the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of treatment, bringing together leaders in neuroscience, mental health, social care and education. It is closely associated with University College London (UCL) and Yale University. The Duchess of Cambridge currently serves as its royal patron.

Sigmund Freud is a 1971 seated bronze statue of Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, situated on a limestone plinth at the junction of Fitzjohn's Avenue and Belsize Lane in Hampstead, North London. Freud lived at nearby 20 Maresfield Gardens, for the last months of his life. His house is now the Freud Museum. The sculptor Oscar Nemon was born and educated in Osijek before moving to work in Vienna in the 1920s. He had read Freud in his teens, initially approached Freud as a young sculptor and was rejected by him. After Nemon had gained his reputation in Brussels, he was approached by Freud's assistant Paul Federn in 1931 to sculpt Freud for his 75th birthday. Nemon finished busts of Freud in wood, bronze and plaster, and Freud chose to keep the wooden portrait for himself. The wooden bust is on display at the Freud Museum in Hampstead. Nemon visited Freud for a final time in London in 1938. His last sittings with Freud would create a "...harsher more abstracted portrait" which would become the head for the seated bronze in Hampstead.Freud wrote in his diary in July 1931 of Nemon's portrait that "The head, which the gaunt, goatee-bearded artist has fashioned from the dirt like the good Lord is very good and an astonishingly life-like impression of me." On seeing the head of Freud, his housekeeper Paula Fichtl said that Nemon had made Freud look "too angry", to which Freud responded that "...But I am angry. I am angry with humanity."The bronze, slightly larger than life size, was commissioned in the 1960s, with funds raised by a committee chaired by Donald Winnicott. The sculpture depicts Freud with his head turned to one side as if in thought, with his hands in his waistcoat pockets. Freud's daughter, Anna Freud, attended the unveiling of the statue in October 1970, accompanied by children from her Hampstead Clinic (now the Anna Freud Centre). The statue was originally located in "an alcove behind Swiss Cottage Library, where it was virtually hidden away from the public." The Freud Museum arranged for the statue to be moved to its present location in 1998.It became a Grade II listed building in January 2016.

John Barnes was a department store located on the Finchley Road in North West London. The building is now occupied by a Waitrose & Partners store and flats.

The Freud Museum in London is a museum dedicated to Sigmund Freud, located in the house where Freud lived with his family during the last year of his life. In 1938, after escaping Nazi annexation of Austria he came to London via Paris and stayed for a short while at 39 Elsworthy Road before moving to 20 Maresfield Gardens, where the museum is situated. Although he died a year later in the same house, his daughter Anna Freud continued to stay there until her death in 1982. It was her wish that after her death it be converted into a museum. It was opened to the public in July 1986. Freud continued to work in London and it was here that he completed his 1939 book Moses and Monotheism. He also maintained his practice in this home and saw a number of his patients for analysis. The centrepiece of the museum is the couch brought from Berggasse 19, Vienna on which his patients were asked to say whatever came to their mind without consciously selecting information, named the free association technique by him. The museum was the subject of Part 2 of Richard Macer's 3 part BBC documentary series 'Behind the Scenes at the Museum' in 2010.The museum's president is David Freud, the great-grandson of Sigmund Freud and architect of Universal Credit.There are two other Freud Museums, one in Vienna, and another in Příbor, the Czech Republic, in the house where Sigmund Freud was born.

The British College of Osteopathic Medicine (also known as BCOM) is an educational organisation based in London. It was one of the first colleges to offer degree-level and master's-level study in osteopathy. The College's Principal is Dr. Kerstin Rolfe.

The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is a specialist mental health trust based in north London. The Trust specialises in talking therapies. The education and training department caters for 2,000 students a year from the United Kingdom and abroad. The Trust is based at the Tavistock Centre in Swiss Cottage. The founding organisation was the Tavistock institute of medical psychology founded in 1920 by Dr. Hugh Crichton-Miller.The Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust was formed in 1994, when the Tavistock Clinic merged with the neighbouring Portman Clinic in Fitzjohn's Avenue. The Portman specialises in areas of forensic psychiatry, including the treatment of addictive, sociopathic and criminal behaviours and tendencies.It has developed as a centre of excellence for psychoanalysis within the NHS since being included at its founding in 1948. The Trust and predecessor organisations have been influential beyond medicine, including in the British Army, management consultancy, prison and probation services.

The NHS Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) is a nationally operated health clinic specialising in working with children with gender identity issues, including gender dysphoria. Although based at a Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust site, it is commissioned by NHS England and takes referrals from across the United Kingdom. It is the only gender identity clinic for people under 18 in the UK and is the subject of much controversy.

Maresfield Gardens is a street in Hampstead. Located in the London Borough of Camden, it runs parallel to the west of Fitzjohns Avenue for much of its route before curving to join it at is southern end. It crosses Nutley Terrace and Netherhall Gardens. The Belsize Tunnel passes underneath the street. It primarily feature red brick buildings. The area was predominantly rural until the Victorian era when the Maryon Wilson family sold off the estate for development into residential streets as part the expansion of London It is named after Maresfield in Sussex, which also belonged to the Maryon Wilsons. It was briefly known as Maresfield Terrace before settling on the current name in 1880. South Hampstead High School has been located in the street since 1882, after it was opened by Princess Louise. The same year Westfield College was also established. Notable residents in the street have included the painter Henry Moore and the future Prime Minister Herbert Asquith. In 1938 Sigmund Freud moved into number 20 with his daughter Anna Freud, and she later founded the Anna Freud Centre there in 1952. Today the building is the Freud Museum commemorating the work of both father and daughter. The Freud Museum is Grade II listed as is number 48 designed in the 1930s by Hermann Zweigenthal and the Roman Catholic Church of St Thomas More by architect Gerard Goalen. The street features blue plaques for both Anna and Sigmund Freud as well as the collector of folk songs Cecil Sharp.

Finchley Road is a London Underground station at the corner of Finchley Road and Canfield Gardens in the London Borough of Camden, north London. It is on the Jubilee line, between West Hampstead and Swiss Cottage and on the Metropolitan line between Baker Street and Wembley Park. It is in Travelcard Zone 2. The station is 100 yards south of the O2 Shopping Centre. It serves the Frognal and South Hampstead areas. It is also a five-minute walk from the Finchley Road & Frognal station on the London Overground's North London line, and this is marked as an official out-of-system interchange. The station is in a cutting covered by a single glass and metal canopy and is the northernmost station below street level on the line.

Swiss Cottage is a disused London Underground station in Swiss Cottage, north-west London. It was opened in 1868 as the northern terminus of the Metropolitan and St. John's Wood Railway (M&StJWR), the first northward branch extension from Baker Street of the Metropolitan Railway (now the Metropolitan line). Subsequent to the opening of a new Swiss Cottage station, which was served initially by the Bakerloo line and is now on the Jubilee line, this Metropolitan line Swiss Cottage station was closed in 1940.

Netherhall House is a catered residential college for men, situated in Hampstead, London, England. It is less than a five-minute walk from Finchley Road tube station. Netherhall House was founded in 1952, in 1966 the 'old wing' was built and opened by the Queen Mother and in 1995 the 'new wing' was opened by Katharine, Duchess of Kent.
