Batería de Aspiroz

Batería de Urrutia is a battery located in San Fernando in the Province of Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain. It is part of the whole defensive system of bastions and batteries that protected the southern entrance of Islote de Sancti Petri in the early nineteenth century along with the Castillo de Sancti Petri and two batteries, Batería de Aspiroz and Batería de San Genís. It was protected under the general declaration of the Decree of April 22 of 1949 and Law 16/1985 by the Patrimonio Histórico Españo (Spanish Historical Heritage).

It was named after Sangenís Antonio Torre, and was capable of holding 35 pieces of artillery. It was protected under the general declaration of the Decree of April 22 of 1949 and Law 16/1985 by the Patrimonio Histórico Españo (Spanish Historical Heritage).

The Castle of Sancti Petri (Castilian: Piedras Santas) is a stronghold located in San Fernando, Province of Cádiz, Andalusia, southwestern Spain. Situated on the little island of Sancti Petri, the defensive fortification was once one of a series of forts that protected the inlet, Caño de Sancti Petri. Of irregular shape and in the Moorish style, it dates from the 13th century. During the 1st century, the Phoenicians settled on the island, founding a temple dedicated to Melqart, their god, . When the Romans arrived they dedicated the temple to Hercules. The castle's watchtower is the oldest building, while the walls and the interior date from the 18th century. The castle was in an advanced state of deterioration, but the authorities of the municipalities of San Fernando and Chiclana de la Frontera funded a major rehabilitation programme. It was declared a Cultural Monument by Decree of April 22, 1949, and Law 16/1985, as a Spanish Historical Heritage landmark. In 1993, the Andalusian authorities gave it special recognition amongst the castles of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.

The Islote de Sancti Petri is a small barren island belonging to the municipality of San Fernando, Cádiz in the province of Cádiz and the autonomous region of Andalusia, Spain. It is close to the coast and 16 kilometres (10 mi) south of Cadiz city. For many years, the island was a restricted military zone, but it is now under the control of the Spanish Environment Ministry. In the first century BC, the Greek historian Strabo mentioned in his book Geographica that the Tyrians founded Gadeira, building a sanctuary to Melkart, known as Hercules to the Greeks, in the eastern part of the island and the city in the western part.

Playa de Camposoto is one of the longest beaches in southern Spain, located in the Province of Cadiz. It looks across to the Islote de Sancti Petri and is located to the north of Playa de la Barrosa. It contains Búnker 1 de Camposoto and Búnker 2 de Camposoto, bunkers from the war.

Muelle de Gallineras is a fishing port and marina located in San Fernando in the Province of Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain. It was used in Roman times. On 23 October 304, Calventius Viator sailed from here to Africa after being martyred. During the French siege there were two defensive batteries, one lower and one higher. Gallerinas today is also the name of a district (barrio) of the city.

Playa de la Barrosa is a 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) long beach in the municipality of Chiclana de la Frontera, Province of Cádiz, Spain. It was the site of the Battle of Barrosa in 1811. It is separated from the Playa de Sancti Petri by a cliff. The resort of Novo Sancti Petri lies at the south end of Playa de la Barrosa and contains a defensive tower structure called Torre Bermeja. Several pieces of music have been composed about the beach including Isaac Albéniz's Torre Bermeja and Paco de Lucía's La Barrosa.
