South Bank railway station (England)

South Bank is a former industrial town in the Redcar and Cleveland borough in North Yorkshire, England on the south bank of the River Tees. It is 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Middlesbrough and 6 miles (9.7 km) south-west of Redcar. The town is served by South Bank railway station.Within Redcar and Cleveland, the South Bank ward had a population of 6,548 at the 2011 census. It forms part of the Teesside built-up area's Middlesbrough subdivision. The area is part of Greater Eston.Ormesby's ancient parish was split into civil parishes. South Bank was in Normanby civil parish. In 1894, the area gained a higher population, and South Bank in Normanby Urban District Council was created. A town hall was built for the district in 1878 and was demolished before the urban district merged with Eston Urban District in 1915. The Eston Urban District was abolished in 1968 with the district becoming part of the County Borough of Teesside. In 1974, the county borough, with the area remaining unparished.

The County Borough of Teesside was a short lived county borough and civil parish in the North Riding of Yorkshire (Northern England) geographical county, around the Teesside agglomeration. It was a 1968 merger of 7 council areas into a single district in. It was the third union of its type and the last to take place until the 1974 reform which replaced it with the wider county of Cleveland. The borough was governed separately of the North Riding County Council, including areas north of the Tees which were previously in the county of Durham and are currently in County Durham.Until the 18th century Stockton-on-Tees was the only town in what would become the county borough, it had a population of 21,070 in 1851. Middlesbrough, with a population of 3,397 in 1851, became the second town in 1853 and became the larger settlement increasing to 81,711 in 1891 while Stockton had 80,665. Thornaby in 1892 and Redcar in 1922 followed in town status with urban districts (townships) of Billingham, Eston and Saltburn-and-Marske also formed in this time.

Teesside () is a built-up area around the River Tees in North East England, split between County Durham and North Yorkshire. The area contains the towns of Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Billingham, Redcar, Thornaby-on-Tees, and Ingleby Barwick. Teesside's economy was once dominated by heavy manufacturing until deindustrialisation in the latter half of the 20th century. Chemical production continues to contribute significantly to Teesside's economy.

St Peter's Catholic College is a coeducational secondary school located in South Bank, North Yorkshire, England. It is part of the Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust.Founded in 1940, it has served the Diocese of Middlesbrough for over 75 years, achieving academy status in 2014, having previously been a specialist college in maths and technology. The school has been a member of the Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust since 2018, a multi academy trust which sponsors 37 academies across the Diocese of Middlesbrough, including Trinity Catholic College in Middlesbrough, St Patrick’s Catholic College in Thornaby and Sacred Heart Catholic Secondary in Redcar.The school offers sixth form provision through Trinity Catholic College Sixth Form in Middlesbrough. In 2020, the school announced an extensive multi-million pound redevelopment of its site, including the construction of a new digital learning wing and sports and recreational facilities.The current executive headteacher is Michael Burns, and the head of school is Steph Garthwaite. The chair of governors is Nicky Jamalizadeh.

Tees Renewable Energy Plant is a proposed biomass fueled power station situated on the River Tees at Teesport in Redcar and Cleveland, North East England. The plant will operate alongside other renewable energy units and industrial processes operating in the Northeast of England Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC)

Eston Grange Power Station (also known as Teesside Low Carbon Project) was a proposed power station to be situated near to Eston in Redcar and Cleveland. If built, it would have been the UK's first pre-combustion carbon capture and storage (CCS) plant. The station could have generated up to 850 megawatts of electricity, enough to supply around a million people with electricity. The station would use standard oil refinery technology to turn gasified coal into hydrogen and carbon dioxide.The power station was not built following the cancellation of the UK's Carbon Capture and Storage competition in 2015.

Thorntree is a housing estate in east Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. The former Thorntree Ward's population was 6,290, at the 2011 census. Since 2015, the estate shares a ward with Brambles Farm.The housing estate was built in the late 1940s, in the lands of the former Thorntree Farm, after people started to move away from the terraced housing of Middlesbrough town centre and North Ormesby. It has a public park called Thorntree Park. The main roads of the estate are College Road and The Greenway. Thorntree Ward had a population of 5,000 and was identified as the 3rd most deprived (out of 8,414) housing ward in England, in 2000. Since the Index of Multiple Deprivation started measuring smaller output areas with a mean population of 1,500, the three areas of Thorntree later ranked 192nd, 205th and 378th most deprived (out of 34,412) in England respectively. Along with the Brambles Farm area, Thorntree was identified as the ward with the highest proportion of votes to Leave in the Brexit referendum of 2016. 82.5% of local residents voted to leave the EU while 17.5% supported remaining.

South Bank F.C. were a football club based near Middlesbrough, England. The club claimed to have been founded in 1868, which would have made them one of the oldest football clubs in England.

Cleveland was a non-metropolitan county located in North East England which existed between 1974 and 1996. Cleveland was a two-tier county and had four boroughs: Hartlepool, Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough and Langbaurgh-on-Tees. The county town was Middlesbrough, where Cleveland County Council met. The county was named after the historic area of Cleveland, Yorkshire. Its area is now split between the counties of North Yorkshire and County Durham. The county was abolished in 1996, with its constituent boroughs becoming unitary authorities. Hartlepool and the part of Stockton-on-Tees north of the River Tees became part of the County Durham, and the remainder became part of North Yorkshire. Some public bodies continue to cover the area of the former county, such as Cleveland Police and Cleveland Fire Brigade. Cleveland bordered County Durham to the north and North Yorkshire to the south, with a coastline on the North Sea to the east. It had a total area of 225 square miles (583 km2).

Outwood Academy Normanby (formerly Hillsview Academy) is a secondary school with academy status, located in the Teesville suburb of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. It has a mixed intake of boys and girls ages 11–18, with 600 pupils on roll as of 2019.The school is operated by Outwood Grange Academies Trust, and the current principal is Andrew Wappat.

Brambles Farm is a small housing estate in east Middlesbrough, England with a population of 3,200. It lies to the north of Thorntree and east of Pallister.

Gillbrook Academy (formerly Gillbrook College) was a mixed academy and sixth form in Teesville, Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire. It merged with neighbouring Eston Park Academy in September 2014 and now forms part of a new single Hillsview Academy.
