Solitude Racetrack

The Solituderennen (eng: Solitude race) motorsport events are held on the 11.4 km Solitudering race track near Stuttgart. The event and the track were named after the nearby Castle Solitude. Motorsports events were held there from 1903 to 1965. Due to the narrow track, initially mainly motorcycle events were held there until 1956. The track and the pits were widened in early 1957 and sports car racing was staged by the automobile club ADAC. Grand Prix motorcycle racing events were held at the track from 1952 to 1964, with the German motorcycle Grand Prix taking place there in even-numbered years: 1952, 1954, 1956, 1958, 1960, 1962 and 1964. From 1961 to 1964, non-Championship Formula One Grand Prix races were also held, in addition to previous Formula 2 and Formula Junior events. In 2003, a memorial event was held, with many former participants and vehicles.

The Engelberg Tunnel is a motorway tunnel on the German A81 Autobahn (motorway) just to the west of Stuttgart on the outskirts of Leonberg. During World War II it was used as a Nazi forced labor factory for the manufacture and storage of aircraft parts. The name is sometimes used to refer to the Old Engelberg Tunnel—which was Germany's second ever motorway tunnel—and sometimes used to refer to its successor, the completely rebuilt Lower Engelberg Tunnel. Both travel under the Engelberg hill to the east of Leonberg on the Stuttgart to Heilbronn A81 motorway.

Gerlingen (Swabian: Gaerlenge) is a town in the district of Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated 9 km west of Stuttgart, and 15 km southwest of Ludwigsburg. Gerlingen is home to Bosch, a major engineering and electronics company.

The Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research (German: Max-Planck-Institut für Festkörperforschung) was founded in 1969 and is one of the 82 Max Planck Institutes of the Max Planck Society. It is located on a campus in Stuttgart, together with the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems.

Founded on 18 March 2011, the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (MPI-IS) is one of the 86 research institutes of the Max Planck Society. With locations in Stuttgart and Tübingen, it combines interdisciplinary research in the growing field of intelligent systems. Intelligent systems are becoming increasingly important in many areas of life – as virtual systems on the Internet or as cyber-physical systems in the physical world. Artificial intelligent systems can be used in a broad range of areas, for instance in autonomous vehicles or to diagnose and fight diseases.

Solitude Palace (German: Schloss Solitude) is a Rococo schloss and hunting retreat commissioned by Charles Eugene, Duke of Württemberg. It was designed by Johann Friedrich Weyhing and Philippe de La Guêpière, and constructed from 1764 to 1769. It is located on an elongated ridge between the towns of Leonberg, Gerlingen and Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg.

The Bernhartshöhe (Bernhart's heights) is a mountain of 549 m (1,801 ft) in the [[Stuttgart-Vaihingen ]] Part of Stuttgart, covering the southwesternmost part of the city of Stuttgart, capital of the German Bundesland (state) of Baden-Württemberg. It is the city's highest point of elevation. Bernhartshöhe is directly adjacent to the crossing of the A 8 and A 81 motorways (Autobahnkreuz Stuttgart), two crucial traffic arteries of Southern Germany.

Alexander M. Patch American High School (also known as "Patch American High School" or "Patch High School") was an English language high school in Germany, on Patch Barracks southwest of Stuttgart, operated by DODEA (formerly known as DoDDS). Opened in 1979, its students were largely military dependents whose sponsors were assigned to units of the Stuttgart Military Community, including Patch Barracks, Robinson Barracks, Panzer Kaserne, and Kelley Barracks. The school was named after United States Army General Alexander McCarrell Patch (1889–1945), the commander of the Seventh Army during World War II. For its first 27 years, it was a secondary school (grades 7–12), and with the 1992 closure of Stuttgart American High School in Pattonville, it became the only DODEA (DoDDS) high school in the Stuttgart area. In the fall of 2006, the school's enrollment was reduced to a four-year high school (grades 9–12) due to projected increasing enrollment and middle schools created at nearby Panzer Kaserne and Robinson Barracks. Following its 36th year of service, PAHS closed in 2015, officially on 30 June. The new Stuttgart High School on Panzer Kaserne, just east of Böblingen, opened that fall and remains the only DoDEA (DoDDS) high school in the Stuttgart area.

Leonberg (German pronunciation: [ˈleːɔnˌbɛrk] ; Swabian: Leaberg) is a town in the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg about 16 km (10 mi) to the west of Stuttgart, the state capital. About 45,000 people live in Leonberg, making it the third-largest borough in the rural district (Landkreis) of Böblingen (after Sindelfingen and Böblingen to the south). Leonberg is most famous for its picturesque market square, the centuries-old annual horse market, its past role as the seat of one of Württemberg's first parliaments, and the Pomeranzen Garden – Germany's only remaining terraced garden, which dates back to the late Renaissance.

Patch Barracks is a U.S. military installation in Stuttgart, Germany. It is named after U.S. Army General Alexander M. Patch (1889–1945).

Schloss Leonberg was founded in 1248 by count Ulrich I of Württemberg. The original castle was modified between 1560 and 1565 by the master builder Aberlin Tretsch by order of the duke Christoph.
