The St. Paul's German Presbyterian Church and Cemetery is a historic place in Elmont, New York. It was nominated for listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.It is one of few buildings that remains from the area's longstanding German community.: 7 

Elmont Memorial Junior-Senior High School (EMHS) is a co-educational, public high school founded in 1956 for students in grades 7–12 in the hamlet of Elmont, Long Island, New York, in Nassau County, United States. The school is one of five secondary schools of the Sewanhaka Central High School District. Its street address is 555 Ridge Road, Elmont, New York 11003. As of the 2018–19 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,640 students and 109.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 15.0:1. There were 620 students (37.8% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 153 (9.3% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.Its school newspaper is known as the " Elmont Phoenix". Elmont High School's mascot is the Spartan. Its school colors are green and white. The school's current principal is Kevin Dougherty. Elmont High School is part of the Sewanhaka Central High School District.

Valley Stream 30 Union Free School District is a public school district in New York State that serves about 1500 students in the village of Valley Stream, New York in southeast Nassau County with a staff of 180 (121 teachers and 59 support staff). It is unique in that most school districts in New York State encompass grades K–12 while this district includes elementary grades K–6 only. It is one of three Valley Stream districts (the others are Elementary Districts 13 and 24) whose students graduate to a separately managed district, Valley Stream Central High School District, for the higher grades. Beth David Cemetery is a Jewish cemetery located at 300 Elmont Road in Elmont, New York. The cemetery was established in 1917. As of 2012, there were approximately 245,000 burials in the cemetery.

Valley Stream Central High School is a public senior high school (grades 10–12) in the village of Valley Stream, New York on the South Shore of Nassau County. It is part of the Valley Stream Central High School District. Dr. Joseph Pompillo has been the Principal since 2001. According to U.S. News & World Report Central is the top performing High School in the District with the ranking of #103 in New York State compared to North's #138 and South's #131. Central has a graduation rate of above 95% and was recently recognized by New York State for having one of the highest graduation rates among men of color.

Columbia Field, originally Curtiss Field, is a former airfield near Valley Stream within the Town of Hempstead on Long Island, New York. Between 1929 and 1933 it was a public airfield named Curtiss Field after the Curtiss-Wright aircraft corporation that owned it. The public airfield closed after 1933, but aircraft continued to be manufactured there primarily by Columbia Aircraft Corporation, which gave the private airfield its name. During its five years of operation, Curtiss Field was one of the busiest airports on Long Island. The airfield was popular with many of the famous pilots of the early days of aviation including Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, and Frank Hawks. Several important long-distance aviation records or events were marked at the airfield. In 1929 the women's aviation group the Ninety Nines was founded at the airfield, and large airshows were often held there. After 1933 the airfield was the site of aviation manufacturing by Columbia Aircraft and Grumman. During World War II Columbia manufactured the Grumman-designed J-2F6 Duck, a single-engine amphibious biplane, under contract. The airfield was finally abandoned in 1947. The Town of Hempstead gave formal recognition to the historical importance of Curtiss Field in 2009.

Elmont is an unincorporated hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in northwestern Hempstead in Nassau County, New York, United States, along its border with the borough of Queens in New York City. The population was 35,265 at the 2020 census.The hamlet is famous for Belmont Park which hosts the Belmont Stakes, the third leg of the prestigious Triple Crown of thoroughbred racing. Elmont is also home to UBS Arena, home of the NHL's New York Islanders. Elmont has tried incorporating itself as a village multiple times over the years, but has been unable to successfully do so.

Cambria Heights is a residential neighborhood in the southeastern portion of the New York City borough of Queens. It is bounded by Springfield Boulevard and Francis Lewis Boulevard to the west, the Elmont, Nassau County border on the east, Queens Village to the north, St. Albans to the west, and Montefiore Cemetery and Laurelton, Springfield Gardens and Rosedale to the south. As of 2010, Cambria Heights's population was 18,677. The neighborhood is part of Queens Community Board 13.

Pagan-Fletcher House is a historic home located at Valley Stream in Nassau County, New York. It was built about 1840 and is a two-story, clapboard sided dwelling, five bays wide with a shallow central portico. It has a one-story rear wing with an exterior end chimney. It was extensively remodeled in the early 20th century to the Colonial Revival style, when the farmhouse was more than doubled in size. It is the only surviving 19th century structure in Valley Stream. The house was the site of the village's first post office.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.The house has been restored by the Valley Stream Historical Society to an early 20th-century appearance. It is open to the public on Sunday afternoons.

In the Chabad-Lubavitch Jewish movement, the Ohel (Hebrew: אהל, lit. 'tent') is an ohel (Jewish monumental tomb) in New York City at which the Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, and his father-in-law, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Schneersohn, (the two most recent rebbes of the Chabad-Lubavitch dynasty) are buried. The Ohel is visited by thousands of Jews and non-Jews each year. Approximately 50,000 people made a pilgrimage in 2014 on the anniversary of Schneerson's death.

Valley Stream State Park is a 97-acre (0.39 km2) state park located in the village of Valley Stream in Nassau County, New York. The park is one of three state parks located in the Town of Hempstead on Long Island. Like Hempstead Lake State Park, Valley Stream State Park contained Cornell's Pond, a feeder reservoir for the Ridgewood Reservoir. This park opened in 1928 together with Southern State Parkway, Hempstead Lake State Park, Belmont Lake State Park, and Heckscher State Park. Initially the park included Cornell's Pond, which had a freshwater beach that charged an admission fee of 10 cents. Crowded and unsanitary conditions led local residents to lobby for its closing in 1947. In 1958, the state to transferred the park's southern portion with this pond to the Village of Valley Stream. It reopened as the village-operated Arthur J. Hendrickson Park.Valley Stream State Park is a day-use facility, convenient to the Southern State Parkway (exit 15A). The park offers a nature trail, cross-country skiing, a playground and playing fields, horseshoe, volleyball, basketball, and bocce ball courts, picnic tables and pavilions, fireplaces and grills, and recreation programs. Pets are not permitted.
