Anna Nagar West (Tamil: அண்ணா நகர் மேற்கு) is a township in Chennai, India. It is the western part of Anna Nagar and is one of the most socially active locations in Chennai. The area serves as a major transport and residential hub within the city. It is also connected by the contemporary metro rail system. The region contains several schools and hospitals. It is mostly a public service concentrated hub located in a residential area. Millennium Park is the largest park within the region. It has a bus terminus belonging to the Metropolitan Transport Corporation.

Padi (Tamil: [paːɖi]) is a locality and neighbourhood in the city of Chennai, India. It was named after Nayanmars, Especially Sundarar, (Tamil saints) came to Padi and sang songs in the Lord Shiva Temple (Tiruvalleeswarar Temple). Padi exactly 13 km from the city's Kilometer Zero is a latest included part of the city. MTH Road (Madras–Thiruvallur High Road), now unofficially known as the CTH Road (Chennai–Thiruvallur High Road), passes through Padi. Padi is basically an industrial area and its infrastructure and living conditions have made this place popular among the working class. Arulmigu Thiruvalithayam Temple in Padi is one of the famous Guru Bhagawan temples in Chennai. This temple is under the control of Hindu Aranilayathurai. Every year Thai Kirthigai is one of the big festival in Padi. Another nearby temple is the Padavattamman Temple. On 4 October 2013, the Tamil Nadu Highways department issued a GO extending the entire stretch of the road till Tirutani to 6 lanes at a cost of ₹ 1,680 million, by means of land acquisition from 12 villages. In the first phase, the road will be widened to 100 ft (4 lanes) with center median at a cost of ₹ 980 million.

The Chennai Rail Museum is a railway museum in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The museum opened on 16 April 2002 in the Furnishing Division of the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) near Perambur . The 6.25-acre (2.53 ha) museum has technical and heritage exhibits, with a sizable collection of steam engines from the British Raj. It also has vintage coaches (such as Ooty trains), which were endemic on Indian railways. Most of the older models were manufactured by the North British Locomotive Company, with some trains in the collection dating back more than a century. Toy-train rides are available. There are 3 air-conditioned Indoor Galleries (ICF Gallery, Rail History Gallery, Art Gallery, 2 Other Non-airconditioned Galleries, a 90-seater air-conditioned Dolby Digital Movie Theatre (Railway and Railway Heritage Films), Natyarangam, Amphitheatre, a Number of Metal Sculptures made from scrap, 3D MURAL at the entrance, Cartoon Hero Characters better viewed from the Joyous Toy Train Ride, Rail Coach Restaurant, Eco Green Park, Lust Green vegetation, etc., The museum is managed and maintained by the ICF.

Villivakkam lake (Villivakkam aeri) is a lake spread over 36.34 acres in Villivakkam, Chennai, India. The lake is located to the south of the neighbourhood of Villivakkam, adjacent to the thickly populated Sidco Nagar, and drains into the Otteri Nullah. The lake belongs to the Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board.

Integral Coach Factory (ICF) is a manufacturer of rail coaches located in Perambur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established in 1955 and is owned and operated by the Indian Railways. It is located in Perambur, in the suburbs of Chennai. The ICF is one of the four rake production units of the Indian Railways, the other three being the Modern Coach Factory at Raebareli, Rail Coach Factory at Kapurthala and Marathwada Rail Coach Factory at Latur.The coach factory primarily manufactures rolling stock for Indian Railways but also exports railway coaches to other countries. ICF set a new record producing 2,503 coaches in the fiscal year 2017–18. It became the world's largest railway coach manufacturer, rolling out 3,262 coaches in the fiscal year 2018–19, up from 1,437 coaches in 2009–10, expecting to produce 4,000 units in the fiscal year 2019–20.A premier production unit of the Indian railways, the ICF manufactures a range of coaches, including Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) ones, in addition to self-propelled train sets (SPTs) such as electrical multiple units (EMU).

The Otteri Nullah is an east–west waterway which runs through north Chennai, starting at the village of Mullam proceeding through Purasawalkam and then passing through Buckingham and Carnatic Mills before meeting the Buckingham Canal at Basin Bridge. The waterway is around 12 km in length with a catchment area of 38.40 square kilometres. It is the major outlet for rainwater in North Chennai. Along with the other major waterways of Chennai, the water remains heavily polluted in spite of many government efforts to clean it up over the years, including the relocation of many thousands of people from its banks since the year 2000. Heavy rains in late 2005 caused the stream to flood, leading to extensive inundation into the surrounding areas of polluted water and a subsequent outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting. In the wake of the floods, the local administration began investigations into widening the stream to prevent recurrence of such problems in the future. In 2010, it was announced that Hydrological digital instruments would be installed along the Otteri Nullah to monitor rainfall.In 2011, the Public Works Department announced that it had started work on desilting the water body.

Thirumangalam lies on the border of Anna Nagar in Chennai. Thirumangalam is on the border of Anna Nagar and often referred as Anna Nagar. The original Thirumangalam village lies on the boundary of Anna Nagar and Anna Nagar West. The old Thirumaniamman Temple is situated here.

The Green Line or Line 2 is one of the two lines of Chennai Metro, Phase 1 Project. The line stretches from Chennai Central to St. Thomas Mount. Out of the 17 stations, 9 stations are underground and 8 are elevated.

Thirumangalam metro station is a Metro railway station on the Line 2 of the Chennai Metro. The station is among the underground stations coming up along corridor II of the Chennai Metro through Anna Nagar stretch. The station will serve the neighbourhoods where the old village of Thirumangalam once stood and now the area where the Thirumangalam Flyover, a prominent landmark and referred to by residents when giving directions.
