Folly is a historic plantation house located near Staunton, Augusta County, Virginia. The house was built about 1818, and is a one-story, brick structure with a long, low service wing and deck-on-hip roof in the Jeffersonian style. It has an original rear ell fronted by a Tuscan order colonnade. The front facade features a tetrastyle pedimented portico with stuccoed Tuscan columns and a simple lunette in the pediment. A similar portico is on the north side and a third portico was replaced by a wing added in 1856. The house closely resembles Edgemont near Covesville, Virginia. Also on the property are contributing original brick serpentine walls, a spring house, smokehouse and icehouse.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Valley Railroad Stone Bridge is a historic stone arch bridge spanning Folly Mills Creek near Jolivue, Augusta County, Virginia. It was built in 1874 by the Valley Railroad, and is a four-span structure with an overall length of 130 feet (40 m) and a width of 15 feet (4.6 m). It is constructed of granite and faced in ashlar and features semi-circular arches set on gently splayed piers. It was acquired by the Virginia Department of Transportation in 1965. It is considered a scenic landmark along Interstate 81.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Chapel Hill is a historic home located near Mint Spring, Augusta County, Virginia. It was built about 1834, and is a two-story, three-bay, brick I-house dwelling in the Federal style. The front facade features a central pedimented pavilion with an elliptical fanlight over the doorway and another in the pediment. The interior features French scenic wallpaper, graining and marbleizing. Also on the property are the contributing frame office with some Gothic details, a pyramidal-roofed frame smokehouse, and a gable-roofed dairy.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Folly Mills Creek Fen Natural Area Preserve is a Natural Area Preserve located in Augusta County, Virginia. The preserve was dedicated in 1998, and was the first privately owned Natural Area Preserve to be dedicated in the state.The 29-acre (12 ha) preserve contains a Shenandoah Valley fen community; the property is located in the floodplain of Folly Mills Creek, which is itself a tributary of the Shenandoah River. The fen is fed by artesian springs from an aquifer in the region's limestone bedrock; this fosters the development of numerous rare and unusual plants. Such wetlands were once more common in the Shenandoah Valley, but few remain. The habitat contains mainly sedges, cattails, and various shrubs. Among the rare species are bog buckbean (Menyanthes trifoliata), pussywillow (Salix discolor), queen-of-the-prairie (Filipendula rubra), shining ladies' tresses (Spiranthes lucida), prairie sedge (Carex prairea), and prairie loosestrife (Lysimachia quadriflora).The preserve is privately owned, and public access is restricted. Visitors must make arrangements with the property's owners and a state-employed land steward prior to visiting.

Bare House and Mill is a historic home and grist mill ruins located at Stuarts Draft, Augusta County, Virginia. The house was built about 1857, and is a two-story, three bay brick dwelling with Greek Revival and Italianate style design influences. It has a metal-sheathed hipped roof one-story entry porches on the front and rear. Also on the property are a contributing wellhouse and meathouse (c. 1860), barn (c. 1900, 1998), privy, cistern, and pumphouse. The ruins of the Bare Mill and related mill race and piers are also located on the property. The two-story, stone grist mill was built about 1800, and may have shut down after the floods of September 1870.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Christians Creek is a 33.0-mile-long (53.1 km) stream in Augusta County in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is a tributary of the Middle River, part of the Shenandoah River system flowing to the Potomac River.

Jolivue is a census-designated place (CDP) in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,129 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Staunton–Waynesboro Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Riverheads High School is a public school located in Augusta County, Virginia. Riverheads is the home of the Gladiators. Riverheads High School was built in 1962 to accommodate 600 students. Located at Routes 11 and 701, ten miles south of Staunton, it is one of five high schools serving Augusta County. A six-classroom wing was added in 1976 to provide for increased enrollment and additional course offerings. An eight million dollar program, completed in 1997, provided renovation with improved and expanded instructional, athletic, and support facilities. Riverheads is nestled in an historic area. In the vicinity are the Hessian House, McCormick’s Grist Mill, and Old Providence Church. Nearby three major highways converge: I-81, U.S. 11, and Route 340. Students are transported by buses covering an area which extend eighteen miles at certain points. Forming the school community are areas such as Moffatts Creek, McKinley, Newport, Vesuvius, Mint Spring, Middlebrook, Greenville, Spottswood, Lofton, White Hill, Jollivue, and the southern sections of both the Stuarts Draft area and the Beverley Manor District. Membership in recent times has varied from a high of 729 (with an eighth grade) in 1978-79 to 420 in 1991-92 (with no eighth grade). Many parents are employed in agriculture, industry-labor trade, and services. A majority are high school graduates and about one-fourth have education beyond high school. The student body is stable; about 90 percent of the senior class have been at Riverheads all their high school experience. Academically, the students compare well with other students in the nation on achievement tests, scoring above the norms for the South in SAT scores. Over half of the senior class typically continue their education beyond high school. The school is accredited by the State Board of Education and by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. In 2015, Riverheads High School was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. Only seven schools in Virginia were awarded this prestigious title in 2015. While the community is a growing industrial area, agriculture remains important to the school community. Varied cultural and recreational opportunities, good medical services, including those for the disabled and mentally or emotionally disturbed, community employment and guidance services, varied transportation and communication services, many churches and service clubs to meet the religious and civic needs, and a number of educational facilities for advanced or specialized training are all available nearby.

Staunton Mall was a shopping mall in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. It was slightly outside the city limits of Staunton, Virginia. Opened in 1968 as Staunton Plaza, it originally featured J. C. Penney, Montgomery Ward, Woolworth, and Safeway as its major stores. An expansion plan between 1985 and 1987 enclosed the formerly open-air property while adding Leggett (now Belk) as a third department store and renaming the property to Staunton Mall. The mall underwent a number of anchor store changes throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s: Safeway became an outlet store for Sears, then Goody's and Gold's Gym, while Woolworth was converted to Stone & Thomas and then to Peebles, and Montgomery Ward became Steve & Barry's. The mall lost many inline stores throughout the 21st century, and passed through several owners before closing on January 1, 2021.

Cowbane Prairie Natural Area Preserve is a 147-acre (59 ha) Natural Area Preserve located in Augusta County, Virginia, along the western slope of the Blue Ridge in the Shenandoah Valley. It preserves both mesic and wet prairie habitats, as well as a calcareous spring-fed marsh; these areas contain eleven regionally rare plants such as queen-of-the-prairie, blueflag iris, and marsh-speedwell. Although common in the Midwest, these plants occur only at a handful of sites in Virginia.The preserve is owned and maintained by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. It does not include improvements for public access, and visitors must make arrangements with a state-employed land steward prior to visiting.

The Frontier Culture Museum is the biggest open air museum in the Shenandoah Valley. The museum operates on 200 acres of land in Staunton, Virginia, where it features eleven historic exhibits, to include traditional rural buildings from Europe, Africa, and America.

The Booker T. Washington Community Center is a community center at 1114 West Johnson Street in Staunton, Virginia. It is located in the former Booker T. Washington High School for Coloreds, a two-story Art Deco brick building designed by Raymond V. Long and built in 1936. A 1960 addition to the rear of the building has a more Modern treatment. It was the Staunton area's only high school for African-American students for thirty years, and one of its few meeting points for African-American organizations until the city's public facilities were integrated. The school was closed in 1966, and was used by the Staunton Police Department from 1967 to 1986.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
