St. Mary Congregational Church

St. Mary Magdalen Church is a historic Roman Catholic church at in Abbeville, Louisiana. In 1988 the church, along with the associated rectory and cemetery, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The cemetery was founded c. 1844, the present church was built in 1911; the American Foursquare-style rectory was built in 1921. The property added to the National Register in 1988.The church is a red brick Gothic-style cruciform basilica with buff-colored brick accents. It has Romanesque Revival details. It has somewhat projecting buttresses reinforcing its outer walls.

Perry's Bridge sprang up sometime after 1817, when Robert Perry, originally from Kentucky, was given a contract by the St. Martin Parish Police Jury to build a bridge across the river. By 1827, Perry, who was first appointed Sheriff of Vermilion Parish, serving 1844 to 1848, owned stores on each side of the river at Perry's Bridge, maintained a tannery there, and had other landholdings. In 1844, Perry laid out the little town.

The Dr. Joseph Angel Villien House, located at 200 W. Joseph St. in Maurice in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, is a Queen Anne-style house built in 1895. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. The listing included seven contributing buildings: the house, "a large mule barn, a potato shed, a 'helper's house' (perhaps built before the main house was started and where a hired man later lived), a privy, a small building where power (presumably carbide gas) for the main house's lights was generated, and a second large barn." The six smaller buildings are wooden, mostly board and batten, with metal roofs.
