Chingstuel

The Güpfi is a mountain of the Urner Alps, overlooking Lungern in the canton of Obwalden. It lies on the range north of the Chingstuel, between the Lungerersee and the Klein Melchtal.

The Ecole d'Humanité is an international boarding school, located in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland. It was founded in 1934 by Paul Geheeb and his wife Edith Geheeb Cassirer. In 1910, Geheeb had founded a similar school, the Odenwaldschule, in his native Germany, but he fled to Switzerland to found the new school after the NSDAP came to power. The Ecole d'Humanité was first located in Versoix, Geneva before Geheeb moved it to its present location on the Hasliberg in 1946. The school places a heavy emphasis on ending academic classes by noon and dedicating the afternoons to leisure pursuits with the heaviest emphasis on hiking and skiing. In 1956, Natalie Lüthi-Peterson, an American academic and a protege of Geheeb, took charge of the Ecole's American Program, allowing students to prepare for exams needed for entry into elite American and British universities while studying in Switzerland. Following the death of Paul Geheeb in 1961, directorship of the school passed to Natalie and her Swiss husband Armin Lüthi, together they oversaw operations at the school until 1993.

The Hochstollen is a mountain of the Urner Alps, located between the Klein Melchtal and the Melchtal in the canton of Obwalden. The border with the canton of Bern runs south of the summit. The closest locality is Melchsee-Frutt on its east side.

Hasliberg is a Swiss municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Bern. Hasliberg is situated on a south-west facing terrace above the valley of the river Aare. The four villages spread out along this terrace are, from west to east, Hohfluh, Wasserwendi, Goldern and Reuti. Hasliberg has become a popular destination for winter sports. An international boarding school, the Ecole d'Humanité, is located in Goldern.

The geographical centre of Switzerland has the coordinates 46°48′4″N 8°13′36″E (Swiss Grid: 660158/183641). It is located at Älggi-Alp in the municipality of Sachseln, Obwalden. The point is the centre of mass determined in 1988 by Swisstopo. As the point is difficult to access, a stone was set 500 m further south-east on Älggi Alp (1645 m). This symbolizes the centre of Switzerland and is located at 46°47′54″N 8°13′55″E (Swiss Grid: 660557/183338). A plaque on the stone commemorates the winner of the "Swiss of the Year" award.

Lungern railway station is a Swiss railway station on the Brünig line, owned by the Zentralbahn, that links Interlaken and Lucerne. The station is located in the municipality of Lungern and the canton of Obwalden.

The Haupt is a mountain of the Urner Alps, located between the Klein Melchtal and the Melchtal in the canton of Obwalden. Its east side consists of steep limestone cliffs overlooking Stöckalp and Melchsee-Frutt. On its west side it overlooks the Älggi-Alp.

Lake Lungern (German: Lungerersee, also spelled Lungernsee or Lungerensee) is a natural lake in Obwalden, Switzerland which is named after the town Lungern on its shore. The lake is drained by the Sarner Aa river, which flows through the Sarnersee and into Lake Lucerne.The lake was originally much larger, and covered a large part of the valley it is situated in. Starting in 1836, its level was lowered by 36 metres (118 ft) through an artificial drainage tunnel with a length of 380 metres (1,250 ft). It is used as a reservoir.

Kaiserstuhl OW railway station is a Swiss railway station on the Brünig line, owned by the Zentralbahn, that links Interlaken and Lucerne. The station is located by the hamlet of Kaiserstuhl, in the municipality of Lungern and the canton of Obwalden.

Planplatten (2,245 m) is a mountain situated above Meiringen in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. In 1999 a panoramic restaurant (the Alpentower) has been built on the summit which is accessible by gondola lift.

The Heitlistock is a mountain of the Urner Alps, located between the Klein Melchtal and the Melchtal in the canton of Obwalden. It is situated west of Stöckalp.
