The San Lucio Pass (Italian: Passo San Lucio), located in the Lugano Prealps at an altitude of 1,541 metres (5,056 ft) above sea level, connects the Val Cavargna in the Italian province of Como with the Val Colla in the Swiss canton of Ticino. The pass is shared by the municipalities of Cavargna (Italy) and Bogno (Switzerland). The pass is accessible by road from the Italian side, and by dirt track from the Swiss side. At the summit of the pass is a 14th-century church, dedicated to Saint Lucio after whom the pass is named, and a pair of refuges. The feast day of Saint Lucio, also known as Saint Uguzo and the patron saint of alpine dairymen, is celebrated on the pass on 12 July and 16 August. It is attended by large numbers of visitors from both sides of the border.

The Qulla (Quechuan for south, Hispanicized and mixed spellings: Colla, Kolla) are an indigenous people of western Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina living in west of Jujuy, west of Salta Province and parts of Tucuman. The 2004 Complementary Indigenous Survey reported 53,019 Qulla households living in Argentina. They moved freely between the borders of Argentina and Bolivia. Their lands are part of the yungas or high altitude forests at the edge of the Amazon rainforest.

San Bartolomeo is a Baroque-style, Roman Catholic church located in the neighborhood of Loggio, in the territory of the commune of Valsolda, Province of Como, region of Lombardy, Italy. This church was founded in 1262, located between Loggio and Drano. Accessible by a set of stairs, the church was refurbished last in 1736, when the belltower was re-erected and granted a golden globe. On the counterfacade is a large fresco depicting the Triumph of the Eucharist, a favorite theme of the Counter-reform, by Giovanni Battista Pozzi, based on a tapestry by Rubens located in Turin.

The Val Colla is a valley and a quarter of the city of Lugano in the Swiss canton of Ticino, to the north-east of the city of Lugano. It includes the localities of Bogno, Valcolla, Certara, Cimadera, Sonvico, which are all part of the city of Lugano, and the municipality of Capriasca.The valley contains the Cassarate River and its headwaters. To the north the valley is flanked by Monte Bar and Monte Gazzirola. To the east is the San Lucio Pass, which connects the Val Colla with the Val Cavargna in Italy. To the south the valley is flanked by the Cima di Fiorina and the Denti della Vecchia.

Val Rezzo (Comasco: Val Rezz [ˌʋal ˈrɛts]) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) north of Milan and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) north of Como, on the border with Switzerland. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 202 and an area of 6.6 square kilometres (2.5 sq mi). Val Rezzo borders the following municipalities: Bogno (Switzerland), Carlazzo, Cavargna, Certara (Switzerland), Cimadera (Switzerland), Corrido, Porlezza, San Nazzaro Val Cavargna, Valsolda.

Cavargna is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) north of Milan and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) north of Como, on the border with Switzerland. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 296 and an area of 15.1 square kilometres (5.8 sq mi). The municipality of Cavargna contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Vegna, Mondrago, and Segalè. Cavargna borders the following municipalities: Bogno (Switzerland), Ponte Capriasca (Switzerland), San Nazzaro Val Cavargna, Sant'Antonio (Switzerland), Valcolla (Switzerland), Val Rezzo.

The Denti della Vecchia (1,491 m) (lit. "teeth of the old woman") are a mountain of the Lugano Prealps, located north of Lake Lugano on the border between Italy and Switzerland. They are composed of several summits of which the highest is named Sasso Grande.

The Cuccio is a 22-kilometre (14 mi) torrent of the Province of Como in north Italy. It rises at Pizzo di Gino (commune of San Nazzaro Val Cavargna) and runs south through the Val Cavargna before entering Lake Lugano at Porlezza.
