Isola is a station on Line 5 of the Milan Metro. It takes its name from the Isola (island) district of Milan in which it is located, its name derived from the neighbourhood's position cut off from the city centre by the main railway.

In 2009, the estimated labour cost was about €2.1 billion (US$3.15 billion), and in 2015 the infrastructure cost €2.7 billion (US$4.05 billion), a total of €4.8 billion (US$7.2 billion).The building was designed by architect César Pelli and reached its full height on 15 October 2011 when the spire was attached. The building is the headquarters of UniCredit, Italy's largest bank by assets, and is part of a larger development of new residential and business structures in Milan's Porta Nuova district, near Porta Garibaldi railway station. The tower ranked eighth in the Emporis 2012, that rewards skyscrapers for excellence in their aesthetic and functional design.The Allianz Tower, at 209 metres (686 ft), is still the tallest building in Italy if ranked by highest usable floor.

The Garibaldi Towers are two high-rise buildings in Milan. They are next to Porta Garibaldi railway station. They were built between 1984 and 1992 by the Italian state railways Ferrovie dello Stato to house its offices. The buildings are 100 meters tall with 25 floors.

Milano Porta Garibaldi (IATA: IPR) is a major railway station in the Italian city of Milan, located just to the north of the neighbourhood known as Porta Garibaldi. Porta Garibaldi is the city's main station for commuter traffic with 25 million passengers annually, although it is second to Centrale station considering total passenger traffic. The station is located on Piazza Sigmund Freud.

Garibaldi FS is a station on Lines 2 and 5 of the Milan Metro, and the Milan Passante railway. The Line 2 station was opened on 21 July 1971 as part of the extension from Centrale. It served as the western terminus until 3 March 1978, when the first trains could travel the new route to Cadorna. The Passante station was opened in 1997, and the Line 5 station in 2005. The station is located on Viale Don Luigi Sturzo, near the Piazza Sigmund Freud, within the territory of the municipality of Milan. This is an underground station, located under Milano Porta Garibaldi railway station. Garibaldi is the only Metro station in Milan, along with surface station Cascina Gobba, to have four tracks: two tracks are used for normal access to the trains, while the other two, located outside the platforms, are not used, one of them being partially removed. This peculiarity is due to the never-built project of expeditious lines of Brianza, a group of light rail lines that were supposed to replace the tram trunk of Brianza, reaching two of the four tracks at the station of Garibaldi, allowing a good exchange.

Gioia is a station on Line 2 of the Milan Metro. The station was opened on 21 July 1971 as part of the extension from Centrale to Garibaldi FS.The station is located between Via Melchiorre Gioia and Via Giovanni Battista Pirelli, within the territory of the municipality of Milan. It is also the focus of the Management Center of Milan. This is an underground station, with two tracks in two separate tunnels.

Palazzo Lombardia ("Lombardy Palace") is a complex of buildings in Milan, Italy, including a 43-storey, 161 m (528 ft) tall skyscraper. It is the main seat of the Lombardy regional government, located in the Centro Direzionale di Milano (CBD, Central Business District), north-west of the city centre. It was first inaugurated on 22 January 2010, and officially completed on 21 March 2010. After its completion, the Regione Lombardia skyscraper was briefly the tallest skyscraper both in Milan and in Italy, being taller than both the Telecom Italia Tower in Naples and the Pirelli Tower in Milan. It lost its supremacy to the Unicredit Tower (also located in Milan) in 2011. Palazzo Lombardia was designed by the architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, winner of an international design competition in 2004, with Henry N. Cobb as design partner. The building won the 2012 International Architecture Award for the best new global design.

The Porta Garibaldi, previously known as the Porta Comasina, is a city gate located in Milan, Italy, on the old road to Como. The Neoclassical arch was built to commemorate the visit of Francis I of Austria in 1825. It was reconstructed from 1826 to 1828 by Giacomo Moraglia and dedicated to Garibaldi in 1860. Built in the Doric style, the gate is flanked by two portals overlooking the street. The customs houses were added in 1836. Its less than monumental proportions are better suited to the surrounding streets as the gate used to be at the end of a winding road, hardly compatible with a grandiose project.Today Porta Garibaldi is also one of the districts of Milan.
