A.F.C. Blackpool is a football club based in Blackpool, Lancashire, England. The club currently play in the North West Counties League Division One North. Based at Jepson Way, they are nicknamed The Mechanics or The Mechs, and are full members of the Lancashire County Football Association.

Yeadon Way is a major road in Blackpool, Lancashire, England. Along with the A583 Preston New Road, it is one of the busiest routes in and out of Blackpool to and from the southeast. It replaced the route of the central branch of the railway leading to and from Blackpool Central railway station, which was demolished in 1973. Yeadon Way was constructed during the following decade. The road, which carries an average of 12,000 vehicles daily, begins at a roundabout shared with the A5320 and Ashworth Road, a short distance west of the end of the M55, and continues due west through the industrial areas to the south of Blackpool town centre. It passes over Vicarage Lane and Hawes Side Lane (the B5261) and St Anne's Road. Beside Watson Road Park, it turns north as it heads towards Blackpool South railway station. It terminates to the east of Blackpool Central Car Park, at a roundabout shared with Parkinson Way and Seasiders Way, the latter named for Blackpool F.C., whose Bloomfield Road stadium is located around 0.5 miles (0.80 km) to the north. In 2019, the road was closed between Hawes Side Lane and its originating roundabout, to permit the second phase of upgrade work begun in 2015. It reopened in May 2020. Yeadon Way is named for Harry Yeadon, a former civil engineer for Lancashire County Council.

Squires Gate is a district and an electoral ward in South Shore, Blackpool on the Fylde coast, in the Blackpool district, in the ceremonial county of Lancashire, England. It is located at the south of the town near the boundary with Lytham St Annes. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 census was 6,437.One of the most significant sites at Squires Gate was the holiday camp. Originally called Squires Gate camp, it became a Pontins holiday centre, but closed in October 2009 for a housing development. Prior to becoming a holiday camp, the camp was used as a military base during World War II. Blackpool Airport is in Squires Gate, and the district also has a small railway station on the Blackpool South to Preston branch line. Squires Gate is home to three non-league football clubs, with grounds very close to each other. A.F.C. Blackpool and Squires Gate F.C. both play in the North West Counties League, while Blackpool Wren Rovers F.C. play in the West Lancashire League. It is also home to the training ground of the town's professional club, Blackpool F.C.

Blackpool Airport (IATA: BLK, ICAO: EGNH) is an airport on the Fylde coast of Lancashire, England, in the Borough of Fylde, just outside the Borough of Blackpool. It was formerly known as Squires Gate Airport and Blackpool International Airport. Ownership of the airport has changed a number of times over the years. The airport was wholly owned by Blackpool Borough Council until 2004, when it was sold to a consortium led by Wolverhampton Airport operators City Hopper Ltd (CHAL), who operated it until May 2008 when Balfour Beatty purchased MAR Property's 95% stake. Blackpool Borough Council retained 5%. During 2014 Balfour Beatty claimed to be looking for a buyer for the airport, and then after just one month announced that it was to close the Airport. On 15 October 2014, the airport's terminal and Air Traffic Control provision was closed, with the last scheduled flights to Dublin and the Isle of Man leaving in the late afternoon. In November 2014, the former company formed a new company, called Squires Gate Airport Operations Ltd, and the airport reopened once again in December 2014 for non-commercial operations. Executive flights are operated by Hangar 3 Blackpool Ltd, which offer access to a private aircraft hangar and private aircraft management as well as a flight briefing room and lounge facilities. NHV Helicopters operate helicopter services to the offshore oil and gas facilities in the Irish Sea, using two Agusta Westland helicopters from a purpose-built helicopter terminal facility. Blackpool Airport is also home to one of three Eurocopter EC135 helicopters operated by the North West Air Ambulance service; the other two helicopters operate from Manchester Barton and are regular visitors to Blackpool. UK Aviation Services (formerly J-Max Air Services) specialise in the maintenance and repair of corporate and commercially owned helicopters. The company holds EASA Part 145 approvals for various Bell, Leonardo, Sikorsky, Airbus, Robinson, Guimbal and MD helicopters. There are many other companies situated on the airfield which offer flying lessons, training, private aircraft hire and maintenance facilities. Blackpool Airport Limited has a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Public Use Aerodrome Licence (Number P724) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction. Passenger numbers peaked in 2007, with over 550,000 passing through the airport, but had fallen to 235,238 in 2012. In 2014, the last year of commercial operations, the airport handled 223,372 passengers, a drop of 15% compared to the 2013 stats; this is due to the stats running from 1 January until the closure of the airport on 15 October.The airport is served by Squires Gate railway station.

The Empire Cinema was a 1920s structure in Blackpool, Lancashire, in England, United Kingdom. It was built as a cinema and was used as such until 1959 when it became a nightclub, known as Casino. The Casino club hosted concerts by acts including the Beatles and Shirley Bassey. In 1974 it became a bingo hall and operated as such until 2020. The structure was locally listed but was demolished in 2021.

St Anne's Church is an Anglican church in St Annes-on-the-Sea, a town on the Fylde coastal plain in Lancashire, England. It is an active Church of England parish church in the Diocese of Blackburn and the archdeaconry of Lancaster. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

The 22nd Ryder Cup Matches were held at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in Lytham St Annes, England. The United States team won the competition by a score of 121⁄2 to 71⁄2 points. The event was the last time that a Great Britain and Ireland team would compete for the Ryder Cup. During the competition, officials from the PGA of America and the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland discussed the possibility of allowing players from continental Europe to participate in the Cup, and Jack Nicklaus also advocated this change in a meeting with Lord Derby. The Deed of Trust that was struck with the PGA of Great Britain and Samuel Ryder was amended in time for the 1979 matches, and changed the popularity and competitive balance of the Ryder Cup.
