Oude Noorden (Old North) is an area of north Rotterdam, Netherlands and is part of the borough Noord. It has approximately 18,000 inhabitants. The district has much pre World War I and World War II architecture still in existence. It has a vibrant though somewhat discreet artistic community.

The Battle of Rotterdam was a Second World War battle fought during the Battle of the Netherlands. Fought between 10 and 14 May 1940, it was a German attempt to seize the Dutch city. It ended in a German victory, following the Rotterdam Blitz.

St Hildegard's Church (Dutch: Sint-Hildegardiskerk) is a Roman Catholic church in the Oude Noorden (in Hillegersberg, before the boundary changes of 1904) in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The neo-Gothic cruciform church was built between 1890 and 1892 according to a design by the Rotterdam architect Evert Margry, one of the most important students of Pierre Cuyper. However, the church was completed by his brother Albert Margry and his colleague JM Snickers following his death in 1891. The church is dedicated to Saint Hildegard of Bingen. The original church consisted of the choir, a bay of the nave, and both transepts. Between 1904 and 1905, the church was enlarged by Margry and Snickers with a tower and four additional bays. The tower is quite similar to the tower of the Bonifatius Church in Zaandam from 1900.The parish of Saints Hildegardis and Antonius used the church independently until 2008, before merging with two other Rotterdam parishes into the new parish of Saints Franciscus and Clara. The new parish now only uses the Hildegardis Church: the Church of the Holy Redeemer and Saint Barbara and the Church of the Holy Family were disposed of in 2008.Together with the Sint-Lambertus Church in Kralingen, it is the last neo-Gothic church in Rotterdam still in use today. It is also a rijksmonument.

The Islamic University of Applied Sciences Rotterdam (IUASR) is a vocational university founded in 1997. It is a member of the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World. The Islamic University of Applied Sciences Rotterdam received her first accreditation in 2010 for her master's degree programme Islamic Spiritual Care (Chaplaincy) and in 2013 for Bachelor program Islamic Theology; both degree programmes are accredited by the NVAO (the official accreditation organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders). According to a news article from 2010 the university has close religious ties with the Turkish Nurcu movement. The IUASR offers accredited Bachelors and master's degrees and is called Islamic University of Applied Sciences Rotterdam; the IUASR is not a member of the VSNU (association of Dutch universities), due to the fact that there is slight difference in the names 'University of Applied Sciences' and 'University' pointing to the distinction between having a PhD research programme or not. In this sense the wording 'University' is protected by law. However, the IUASR is starting a PhD application in January 2019 at the NVAO. This does not inhibit the IUASR and its accredited degree programmes.

Rotterdam Noord is a railway station in the city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, located on the Utrecht–Rotterdam railway. It sits at the border between the two Rotterdam boroughs Noord and Hillegersberg-Schiebroek.

Noord (English: Rotterdam-North) is a borough of Rotterdam. The municipal portion is formed by the Delfshavense Schie, the Highway 20 (A20), the Rotte and the rails. The borough had 51,796 inhabitants in 2017.

Rotterdam Hofplein railway station in the Netherlands is a former main-line and RandstadRail station. It was the terminus of the former Hofpleinlijn (Hofplein line) which ran trains between Rotterdam and Scheveningen, and were later curtailed to The Hague central station. It was located very close to the railway line between Rotterdam Centraal and Rotterdam Blaak, but never had a direct connection to it.

FG Food Labs is a restaurant in Rotterdam by chef François Geurds. Since 2015, the restaurant has one Michelin star. GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 16.5 points out of a maximum of 20 points.

Bergpolder is a neighborhood of Rotterdam, Netherlands in Rotterdam-Noord. The neighborhood was laid out between 1930 and 1935 and named after the polder of the same name. The Bergpolderflat built in 1933, now a national monument, is the main attraction of the neighborhood, together with the Sportfondsenbad Noord (swimmingpool) from 1937 on the Van Maanenstraat. The Sophia Kinderziekenhuis (Sophia Children's Hospital), founded in 1863 was relocated in 1936 to the northern border of the Gordelweg district, and moved to a new building next to the Erasmus Medical Center in 1994.

The Bergpolderflat in the Rotterdam district Bergpolder (corner of Abraham Kuyperlaan and Borgesiusstraat) was the first gallery flat in the Netherlands . The flat has a steel skeleton and was designed in 1933/1934 by the architect W. de Tijen in collaboration with architects Brinkman and Van der Vlugt in the Modern style, functional, sleek, light and airy. The apartment was built by NV Volkswoningbouw Rotterdam. The flat has nine floors and 72 homes through an accessible gallery. There was a common washroom in the basement and modern, for the time, amenities such as central heating and the right to a free bucket of warm water. In Bergpolderflat cases were first applied generally, later, as the gallery with a balcony, central staircase and open the glass walls. There is still the traditional wooden construction beams, but with three layers is a fireproof concrete floor. The Bergpolderflat has prefabricated wooden doors. There was criticism of the limited number of bedrooms. de Tijen disputed such criticism by stating that "the houses were mainly designed for modern young people who like simple, light and space." In 1996, the building, a national monument, was renovated by woningcorporatie Vestia.
