Wildsee (Kaltenbronn)

Kaltenbronn is a hamlet and old parish in the Black Forest in Germany that belongs to the parish of Reichental in the municipality of Gernsbach in Baden-Württemberg. The hamlet in the northern Black Forest with its hotel, forester’s lodge and former Baden hunting lodge lies a little below the top of the Schwarzmiss Pass (933 m) between the Murg and Enz valleys at a height of about 860 metres above sea level (NN) in the centre of the largest contiguous woodland in Baden-Württemberg. Kaltenbronn is crossed by the Landesstraße 76 B, the road over the pass between the valleys of the Murg and the Enz, and is accessible by public buses from both Gernsbach and Bad Wildbad. Its average annual temperature is 6 °C and its annual precipitation is 1,600 mm. It is covered by snow for an average of 75 days per year.

The Hohloh is a mountain, 988.3 m above sea level (NHN), on the eastern main ridge of the Northern Black Forest in Germany. Its summit is the highest point in the borough of Gernsbach and the eastern chain of the Northern Black Forest, the ridge between the rivers Murg and Enz. A mountain pass runs northeast of the summit plateau between the two river valleys passing over the saddle of Schwarzmiss (933 m). Characteristic of the Hohloh is its flat bunter sandstone kuppe with its observation tower, the Hohloh Tower (Hohlohturm) and a raised bog and bog lakes on the plateau which are protected.

The Teufelsmühle (908.1 m above sea level (NHN)) is a mountain south of Loffenau in the Northern Black Forest. It lies between the valleys of the Murg in the west and the Alb in the east. The Alb rises near the eastern flank of the mountain (at the Albursprung), before reaching Bad Herrenalb a few kilometres further north. Over the summit plateau of the Teufelsmühle, which runs in a north-south direction, runs the boundary between the municipalities of Gernsbach in the Murg valley and Loffenau, both of which belong to the Baden-Württemberg county of Rastatt.

The Sommerbergbahn is a funicular railway in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It runs from Bad Wildbad to the top of the Wildbader Sommerberg, which gives good views over the town, with one intermediate stop.The Sommerbergbahn opened in 1908 and was modernised in 1928 and again in 1968. In 2004 extensive work was undertaken to bring it into line with modern safety requirements. The line was closed in late 2010 for major upgrade works, with one of the cars being lifted from the line in February 2011.
