Trevethin (Welsh: Trefddyn) is a suburb of Pontypool and a community in Torfaen, Wales. It includes two electoral wards (Trevethin and St Cadocs and Penygarn) for Torfaen County Borough Council. It is in the historic county of Monmouthshire.

Saint Cadocs/Penygarn is an electoral ward in the county borough of Torfaen in south east Wales. Saint Cadocs is quite small and holds Saint Cadocs parish church in it. Penygarn is divided into housing estate areas and Old Penygarn, one of the richest places in Pontypool. There are only about 15–20 houses in old Penygarn. Trevethin Community School (Welsh: Ysgol Gymunedol Trefddyn) was a non-selective state secondary school in the Pontypool suburb of Penygarn, Wales.The school—established in 1982 as Trevethin Comprehensive School—was originally housed on two sites, the former Pontypool Girls' Grammar School building and the former Trevethin Secondary Modern School, which is now the Welsh-language school Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw. This was until 1991, when years 7 and 8 moved to the former girls' school in Penygarn, uniting the school on one site and making way for the Welsh-language school. The school suffered from declining pupil numbers in its last years and closed in the summer of 2007. The remaining pupils were relocated to either Abersychan Comprehensive School or West Monmouth School. Many residents of Trevethin were bitter about the school's closure and fought hard to keep it open, but to no avail. Trevethin itself is an economically deprived district of Pontypool and this influenced the school's fate.

Penygarn is a village near Trevethin in Wales. Penygarn has its own nursery, infant school and junior school. Penygarn has its new housing accommodation, Penygarn heights, built upon the grounds of the old Trevethin community school which has since been demolished.

St Alban's RC High School (Welsh: Ysgol Uwchradd Catholig Sain Alban) is a Roman Catholic secondary school in Pontypool, Torfaen, Wales. The school provides education from ages 11-16. The school is situated in Park House, the former home of the Hanbury family in Pontypool Park.

Pontypool Park (Welsh: Parc Pont-y-pŵl) is a 150-acre (0.61 km2) park in Pontypool, Torfaen, Wales. The park was formerly the grounds of Pontypool House and was laid out in the closing years of the 17th century for John Hanbury, an ironmaster, who is closely associated with Japanware. The grounds were purchased by the local authority in 1920, while the estate house was leased, and later sold, to the Sisters of the Holy Ghost to become St. Alban's RC High School. The former stables now house the Torfaen Museum. The grounds contain a number of structures including a double ice house, the Folly Tower and the Shell Grotto. The park is entered through the Pontymoile Gates. The gates, the grotto and the stables are all Grade II* listed structures, while the former hall and the ice house are listed Grade II. The park itself is designated at Grade II* on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

Pontypool Town Hall (Welsh: Neuadd y Dref Pont-y-pŵl) is a municipal structure in Hanbury Road, Pontypool, Wales. The town hall, which forms the original part of a civic centre that now serves as the headquarters of Torfaen County Borough Council, is a Grade II listed building.

Pontypool Crane Street railway station served the town of Pontypool in the Welsh county of Monmouthshire.

The Folly Tower (Welsh: Tŵr Ffoledd) is a folly located within the grounds of a working farm, close to Pontypool Park, Torfaen, South Wales (Grid ref: SO 2954902550). It is a prominent local landmark above the A4042 Pontypool to Abergavenny road and overlooks Pontypool to the west and rural Monmouthshire to the east. The Folly is octagonal in shape and roughly 40 ft (12 m) high and is approximately 1,000 ft (305 m) above sea level on the eastern hill range of the Eastern Valley of Monmouthshire, just south of Mynydd Garn-Wen. Less than a mile from the folly is the Shell Grotto.
