The church of Saint Panteleimon of Acharnai (Greek: Άγιος Παντελεήμων Αχαρνών) is a Greek Orthodox basilica in the center of Athens. It has a maximum length of 63 m and width 48 m and it is the biggest church of Greece. The church is in the downtown of the modern city of Athens, close to the high-traffic Acharnon Avenue. The foundations of the church were laid on 12 September 1910 by King George I of Greece and it was consecrated on 22 June 1930. The church's interior paintings were created by the painter Giannis Karouzos (1937-2013). It took him 23 years to complete the painting of the 6,000 m2 surface of the interior walls of the church.Other sources consider Cathedral of Saint Andrew, Patras, and not Church of Saint Panteleimon of Acharnai, as the largest orthodox church in Greece.

The Holy Trinity Cathedral (Greek: Καθεδρικός και Ενοριακός Ιερός Ελληνόρρυθμος Καθολικός Ναός Αγίας Τριάδος) also called Greek-Catholic Cathedral of Athens is a Greek Byzantine Catholic cathedral in Athens, Greece. It functions as the seat of the Greek Catholic Apostolic Exarchate of Greece (Exarchatus Apostolicus Graeciae) that was created on June 11, 1932 by the then Pope Pius XI, and follows the Byzantine Rite, It is under the pastoral responsibility of Bishop Manuel Nin.

Thymarakia (Greek: Θυμαράκια, pronounced [θi.maˈɾaca]) is a neighborhood of the center of Athens. It takes its name from the Greek word 'θυμάρι' which means 'thyme', which was formerly plentiful in the area. The area is served by Agios Nikolaos metro station on line 1 of the Athens Metro.

Kato Patisia (Greek: Κάτω Πατήσια), also known as Kato Patissia on signage, is on Athens Metro Line 1 in Patisia. It opened on 12 February 1956 and is 13.722 kilometres (8.526 mi) from Piraeus.

Amerikis Square (Greek: Πλατεία Αμερικής, Plateia Amerikis, "America Square") is located in central Athens, Greece. It is an open area adjacently to Patision Street, on the western borders of Kypseli. Formerly called Agamon Square, literally "square of the unmarried", the neighbourhood around the square includes, along with central Kypseli, many modernist apartment buildings built during the 1930s.

The Railway Museum of Athens, Greece, was founded by the Hellenic Railways Organisation (OSE) in 1978. It was located at 4 Siokou Street in Athens, but the collection has since been moved to the former MPR Depot site in Lefka, Piraeus in 2019 (not to be confused with the Electric Railways Museum of Piraeus. The museum has a collection of items related to the history of rail transport in Greece, it is now (2022) closed for public.

Patision Street (Greek: Οδός Πατησίων) is one of the major streets in central Athens, Greece. Though it is known as Patision, its name for its stretch between Panepistimiou Street and Amerikis Square, was changed to 28 October Street, commemorating the day in 1940 that the Greek dictator Ioannis Metaxas refused the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini's ultimatum that Greece submit to Italian control, thus starting the Greco-Italian War. Patision Street connects the area known as Patisia with Omonoia Square in the center of Athens. It is crowded by bus and trolley bus lines, which connect the city center with Kypseli (trolley lines 2, 4, 9), Lamprini (trolley lines 5, 13, 14), Patisia (trolley line 11), N. Filadelfeia (trolley line 3), Perissos (bus lines 605, 054), Marousi (bus line A8) and Galatsi (bus line 608). It is a southbound one-way route with a northbound bus lane until it meets Marnis street, and it has three lanes per direction until Amerikis Square.

Attiki (Greek: Αττική) is a metro station in Athens, Greece. The station opened in 1885. It was the main hub of Attica Railways, a metre gauge network connecting downtown Athens with the mining town of Lavrion and the northern suburbs of Marousi and Kifissia. Lavrion trains were diverted to the SPAP line in 1929 and passenger services to Kifissia were suspended in 1938. In 1949 the station was converted to standard gauge and became the northern terminus of the line of Hellenic Electric Railways. The new electrified line was again extended to Kifissia, leaving Attiki as an intermediate station. Two underground platforms were added in 2000 for Athens Metro Line 2 trains. The station entrance and the Line 1 platforms were renovated extensively in 2003–2004. Part of the old station is used as a trolleybus garage by OSY. Today the station is served by STASY. There are train storage and a service connection between the Line 1 and Line 2.

Treis Gefyres (Greek: Τρεις Γέφυρες pronounced [tɾis ˈʝe.fi.ɾes]) meaning 'Three bridges' is a neighborhood in the center of Athens, Greece. It is located in north-west of the centre (Syntagma square) of Athens, in the point where the railways meets Cephissus river. It borders with Kato Patissia and Peristeri. Its name derived from the bridges that located in this point (the Greek word gefyra means bridge).

Colonus or Kolonos (Ancient Greek: Κολωνός, ) was a deme of the phyle Aegeis, of ancient Attica, celebrated as the deme of Sophocles, and the scene of one of the poet's tragedies, was situated ten stadia from the gate of the city, called Dipylum, near Plato's Academy and the river Cephissus. It derived its name from two small but conspicuous heights, which rise from the plain a little to the north of the Academy. Hence it is called by Sophocles "the white Colonus". It was under the especial care of Poseidon, and is called by Thucydides the ἱερόν of this god. It is frequently called Colonus Hippius or Kolonos Hippeios (Κολωνός Ἵππειος) or Hippius Colonus or Hippeios Kolonos (Ἵππειος Κολωνός), both meaning "Colonus of the Horses", to distinguish it from the "Colonus Agoraeus" in Athens. Besides the temple of Poseidon, it possessed a sacred grove of the Eumenides, altars of Athena Hippia, Demeter, Zeus, and Prometheus, together with sanctuaries of Peirithous, Theseus, Oedipus, and Adrastus. According to Greek mythology, Oedipus was buried there, as described by Sophocles, who was born there, in his Oedipus at Colonus. The natural beauties of the spot are described by Sophocles in the magnificent chorus: "Here the nightingale, a constant guest, trills her clear note under the trees of green glades, dwelling amid the wine-dark ivy and the god's inviolate foliage, rich in berries and fruit, unvisited by sun, unvexed by the wind of any storm. Here the reveller Dionysus ever walks the ground, companion of the nymphs that nursed him."In the Athenian oligarchic revolution of 411 BCE, the oligarchs convened at the sanctuary of Poseidon Hippios at Colonus to frame their new constitution.The site of Colonus is at Agia Eleousa in modern Kolonos. The modern neighborhood of Kolonos is named after it.

Hackerspace.gr ('hsgr') is a hackerspace in Athens, Greece, established in 2011. It operates as a cultural center, computer laboratory and meeting place (with free wireless access). Hackerspace.gr promotes creative coding and hardware hacking through its variety of activities. According to its website: "Hackerspace.gr is a physical space dedicated to creative code and hardware hacking, in Athens".

The Duchy of Athens (Greek: Δουκᾶτον Ἀθηνῶν, Doukaton Athinon; Catalan: Ducat d'Atenes) was one of the Crusader states set up in Greece after the conquest of the Byzantine Empire during the Fourth Crusade as part of the process known as Frankokratia, encompassing the regions of Attica and Boeotia, and surviving until its conquest by the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century.
