Sutton Coldfield

Holy Trinity Parish Church is the parish church of Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, England. It is Grade I listed and gives its name to the ward in which it stands, Sutton Trinity.

Sutton Coldfield railway station is the main railway station for the town of Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, West Midlands, England. It is situated on the Redditch-Birmingham New Street-Lichfield Cross-City Line 7+1⁄2 miles (12.1 km) north east of Birmingham New Street. The station is of Victorian architecture with red brick and elaborate ceilings and pillars. One platform is sheltered while the other is open air. The main building itself is built on a hill with a tunnel running underneath it. It is accessed via Station Street and Railway Road.

Sutton Coldfield Town railway station, also referred to as Sutton Town, was a railway station in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, England, on the Midland Railway's Sutton Park Line.

The Sutton Coldfield train crash took place at about 16:13 on 23 January 1955 in Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire (now within Birmingham), when an express passenger train traveling from York to Bristol, derailed due to excessive speed on a sharp curve.

Birmingham Metropolitan College is a further and higher education college with 10 campuses distributed within Birmingham, England. The college was created in 2009 as an amalgamation of Matthew Boulton College and Sutton Coldfield College. The main site is Matthew Boulton College based at Jennens Road in Birmingham City Centre. In addition to the existing campuses and facilities, there are proposals for the construction of a new campus in Perry Barr, although these plans are currently on hold due to funding issues. The college is a member of the Collab Group of high performing schools.

Moat House is a Grade II* listed building situated in Lichfield Road, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands. It is part of the Anchorage Road conservation area.The property was designed and built in 1680 as a mansion house by William Wilson, builder, architect and student of Sir Christopher Wren, as a home for his new wife, a wealthy local widow Jane Pudsey who had previously owned Langley Hall with her first husband. The original gatehouse or lodge, itself a Grade II listed building, and stone bridge remain but no traces of the 'moat' remain. The moat survived until 1860, until which it had to be crossed by a small stone bridge. A sundial is attached to the side of the building.The property was occupied by the adjacent Sutton Coldfield College.The Moat House is now the home of Urban Village Group.

Plantsbrook School, (formerly Riland Bedford High School), is a secondary school with academy status located in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, England. The school achieved an "Outstanding" Ofsted status once in 2012. The most recent rating was “Good” and the preceding one in which it was rated as REQUIRES IMPROVEMENT. The school was a Technology College and a Music College before the Specialist Schools initiative was made defunct. The school has recently undergone a £20 million refurbishment with the gradual demolition of the formerly used 1940s building.

Sutton Coldfield power station supplied electricity to the town of Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham (then part of Warwickshire) from 1901 to 1959. The electricity generating station was owned and operated by Sutton Coldfield Corporation prior to the nationalisation of the British electricity industry in 1948. It was closed in 1959 when it had a generating capacity of 1.0 MW.

Bishop Vesey's Grammar School (BVGS) is a selective state grammar school with academy status in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands. Founded in 1527, it is one of the oldest schools in Britain, the oldest state school in the West Midlands and the third oldest school in the West Midlands after two independent schools, Bablake School and Wolverhampton Grammar School. The school had boarders until 1969 but is now a day school only. The school was founded in 1527 by the Bishop of Exeter John Vesey (formerly John Harman) who was a friend of Henry VIII and tutor of his elder daughter Queen Mary I, and it currently has approximately 1025 pupils. The current headteacher is Dominic Robson, who was appointed to the position in September 2012. In 2004 BVGS became a Language College and, in 2007, the school gained Training School status. Former Assistant Headteacher Steve Baugh served as Head of the Training School and Continuing Professional Development. The school also houses a co-educational sixth form college. It is situated on the A5127, next to Birmingham Metropolitan College (former Sutton Coldfield College) and the Cross-City Line.

Sutton Coldfield Town Football Club is an English association football club based in Sutton Coldfield. The club participates in the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands. Despite being the largest team in a town with a population of over 105,000 people (more than that of the home towns of many full-time professional teams), their profile suffers due to their geographical proximity to Aston Villa, who draw considerable support from the town.
