Loyn Bridge

Lunesdale Rural District was a rural district in the county of Lancashire, England. It was created in 1894 and abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972.It comprised 21 civil parishes to the east and north-east of the city of Lancaster, around the valley of the River Lune.It had a population of 6,948 in 1901 and 8,224 in 1961.

Hornby is a village and former civil parish 9 miles (14 km) from Lancaster, now in the parish of Hornby-with-Farleton, in the Lancaster district, in the county of Lancashire, England. The village is on the A683 and at the confluence of the River Wenning and Lune In 2011 the built up area had a population of 468. In 1881 the parish had a population of 358.

Hornby Priory was an English Premonstratensian monastic house in Hornby, Lancashire. Dedicated to St Wilfrid, the priory was a dependent cell of Croxton Abbey in Leicestershire. It was probably founded by Roger de Montbegon of Hornby, otherwise his father Adam or grandfather Roger.In 1544 Thomas Stanley, 2nd Baron Monteagle and Henry Croft bought the site of Hornby Priory.

The parish is about 8.5 miles (13.7 km) north-east of Lancaster and consists of two villages: Hornby and Farleton, both on the A683 road. The parish was formed 24 March 1887 from the parishes of "Hornby" and "Farleton".

Gressingham is a small village and civil parish in the City of Lancaster in the English county of Lancashire. It is north of the River Lune and across the river from Hornby. In the 2001 census, it had a population of 153, decreasing slightly to 151 at the 2011 census.St John the Evangelist's Church was originally built in the 12th century and is a Grade I listed building. It was partly rebuilt in 1734, and restored by Edward Paley in 1862.The Gressingham Duck was named after the village of Gressingham, having been first bred here in 1980 from a cross of mallards and Pekin ducks. However, the exclusive right to breed Gressingham Ducks was bought by Gressingham Foods in 1996, and the ducks they now produce are all from their farms in East Anglia.

Hornby railway station served the village of Hornby in the City of Lancaster district of Lancashire, England. The station was located in a cutting off Station Road and was constructed by the "Little" North Western Railway' opening with the line in November 1849 (though through traffic towards Skipton and beyond didn't commence until the following summer). The line eastwards towards Wennington was doubled soon after opening but westwards to Lancaster, it remained single track until 1889. It was closed to passenger traffic in September 1957 by the British Transport Commission due to declining usage. The line remained in use until closure to passengers in January 1966 between Wennington and Morecambe. Freight services finished the following year in June 1967 and the line was later dismantled. Much of the route has since been returned to agricultural use. The station site is now occupied by a housing development, though the formation either side can still be traced.

The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. It stands at the end of the village street, overlooking the River Lune, within the bailey of a former castle. The former 11th-century motte stands to the northeast of the church.

Arkholme-with-Cawood is a civil parish of the City of Lancaster in Lancashire, England. The parish of Arkholme-with-Cawood had a population of 334 recorded in the 2001 census, falling marginally to 333 at the 2011 Census. The parish is north east of Lancaster and lies on the B6254 road.
