Gonzen

Sargans Castle is a castle in the municipality of Sargans of the Canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.The castle was the seat of the counts of Werdenberg-Sargans in the 13th century. Since 1899, it has been run by the local church and now houses the Sarganserland museum.

The Saar is a minor tributary of the Alpine Rhine in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. It rises in Mittelsäss, Bad Ragaz municipality, at 2,087 m elevation. Flowing generally north, it passes the Saarfall waterfall, dropping from 560 m to 500 m, reaching the plain of the Rhine Valley. From here, it is strongly canalised, flowing through the territories of the Vilters-Wangs, Mels and Sargans municipalities before joining the Rhine downstream of Trübbach at 480 m. Its named tributaries are Kleine Saar (left), Vadanabach (left) Saschielbach (right), Silbergiessen (right), Chrummgiessen (right) and Kaltgiessen (right). The Saar was first canalised between 1855–1862. Its confluence with the Rhine was moved 700 metres downstream, to the mouth of the Trübbach. Its lower course was widened in 1899–1908. Its mouth was again moved downstream by 2.5 km after a flood in 1954.

Sargans is a municipality in the Wahlkreis (constituency) of Sarganserland in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. The Gauschla (2,310 m (7,580 ft)) is a mountain of the Appenzell Alps, located north of Sargans in the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland. It lies near the southern end of the range between the Walensee and the Rhine Valley, and one kilometre south-east of the Alvier (2,341 m (7,680 ft)). Just 600 metres south-east of the Gonschla, and clearly seen from the Rhine Valley, is the Girrenspitz (2,099 m (6,886 ft)).

The Alvier (German pronunciation: [alˈfiːɐ̯] ) is a mountain in the Appenzell Alps, located halfway between Lake Walenstadt and the Rhine in the canton of St. Gallen. It is one of the main summits of the chain separating the valleys of the river Seez and the Rhine. Although involving a long hike, the summit is easily accessible by trails from both sides.

Wartau is a municipality in the Werdenberg constituency of the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. The municipality consists of a number of villages on the eastern flank of the Alvier group, along the left shore of the Alpine Rhine.
