Daniel Knight Warren House

Warrenton is a small, coastal city in Clatsop County, Oregon, United States. Named for D.K. (Daniel Knight) Warren, an early settler, the town is primarily a fishing and logging community. The population was 6,277 according to the 2020 US Census. Warrenton is a less urbanized area close to the Clatsop County seat, Astoria.

The Skipanon River is a tributary of the Columbia River, approximately 7 miles (11 km) long, on the Pacific coast of northwest Oregon in the United States. It is the last tributary of the Columbia on the Oregon side, draining an area of coastal bottom land bordered by sand dunes and entering the river from the south at its mouth west of Astoria. The Skipanon River issues from Cullaby Lake in western Clatsop County, northeast of Seaside and less than 3 miles (4.8 km) from the ocean. It flows north parallel to the coast and east of U.S. Route 101. It enters the northwest end of Youngs Bay at the mouth of the Columbia approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) northeast of Warrenton. The mouth of the river is at river mile 10.7 miles (17.2 km) of the Columbia upstream from its mouth. The river's name comes from the Clatsop language, originally referring to a point at the river's mouth rather than the river itself. The charts of the Lewis and Clark Expedition show the stream as Skipanarwin Creek. Another variant spelling, Skeppernawin, was common on maps into the 20th century.

Warrenton High School (WHS) is a public high school in Warrenton, Oregon, United States. It is home to one of the first on-campus high school fish hatcheries and aquaculture programs in the state of Oregon.

South Jetty High School was a public high school in Warrenton, Oregon, United States. It was located at the North Coast Youth Correctional Facility, which closed down in 2017.

Coast Guard Air Station Astoria was established on August 14, 1964, at Astoria Regional Airport in Warrenton, Oregon, United States. The unit houses 67 active duty, 24 reserve duty and one civilian personnel. The unit operates three Sikorsky MH-60 Jayhawk helicopters. According to a 2003 press release, the unit's annual budget is $1,107,051. The unit's functions include search and rescue, law enforcement, aids to navigational support, and environmental protection. Air Station Astoria served as one of the filming locations for the movie The Guardian (2006).On April 28, 2017, the Coast Guard announced it would base two Sentinel-class cutters in Astoria, in 2021.

Astoria Regional Airport (IATA: AST, ICAO: KAST, FAA LID: AST) is a joint civil-military public airport in Warrenton, three miles southwest of Astoria, in Clatsop County, Oregon. The airport is owned by the Port of Astoria and is the home of Coast Guard Air Station Astoria. The airport has no airline flights. Flights to Portland International Airport were most recently provided by SeaPort Airlines from March 2008 until Spring of 2010. Until 1974-75 Astoria had flights on West Coast Airlines and its successors. Federal Aviation Administration records say the airport had 1,851 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2008, 1,531 in 2009 and 3,482 in 2010. The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a general aviation facility based on enplanements in 2008 (the commercial service category requires 2,500 per year) but it would be categorized as commercial service - non-primary based in enplanements in 2010.

Camp Rilea Armed Forces Training Center is an Oregon Military Department base. It dates to 1927 when it was known as Camp Clatsop. It is located on the Oregon Coast in Warrenton and is primarily used by the United States Air Force and the United States Army. It is also home to Camp Rilea Heliport.

The Youngs River is a tributary of the Columbia River, approximately 27 miles (43 km) long, in northwest Oregon in the United States. It drains part of the Northern Oregon Coast Range in the extreme northwest corner of state, entering the Columbia via Youngs Bay just approximately 10 miles (16 km) from its mouth. It rises in a remote section of the mountains of central Clatsop County, north of Saddle Mountain State Natural Area. It flows generally northwest, passing over Youngs River Falls. The falls were encountered in 1806 by a hunting party of the Lewis and Clark Expedition from nearby Fort Clatsop and documented in William Clark's journals. It broadens in a large estuary and enters the south end of Youngs Bay on the Columbia at Astoria. It receives the Klaskanine River from the east approximately 5 miles (8 km) south of Astoria. It receives the Wallooskee River from the east approximately 2 miles (3 km) south of Astoria. Named tributaries of Youngs River from source to mouth are Fall Creek and South Fork Youngs River, then Fox, Osgood, Rock, Bayney, Wawa, and Moosmoos creeks followed by the Klaskanine River. Below that come Cooperage, Battle Creek, Tucker, Casey, Binder, and Cook sloughs followed by the Wallooskee River. Further downstream are Crosel, Brown, and Craig creeks followed by Knowland Slough and the Lewis and Clark River.About 13 miles (21 km) from the mouth of the river are Youngs River Falls, a 54-foot (16 m) tall waterfall.

Fort Stevens was an American military installation that guarded the mouth of the Columbia River in the state of Oregon. Built near the end of the American Civil War, it was named for a slain Civil War general and former Washington Territory governor, Isaac I. Stevens. The fort was an active military reservation from 1863–1947. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today the site is an Oregon state park just northwest of Warrenton.

The Bombardment of Fort Stevens occurred in June 1942, in the American Theater and the Pacific Theater of World War II. The Imperial Japanese submarine I-25 fired on Fort Stevens, which defended the Oregon side of the Columbia River's Pacific entrance.

Fort Clatsop was the encampment of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in the Oregon Country near the mouth of the Columbia River during the winter of 1805–1806. Located along the Lewis and Clark River at the north end of the Clatsop Plains approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) southwest of Astoria, the fort was the last encampment of the Corps of Discovery, before embarking on their return trip east to St. Louis. The Lewis and Clark Expedition wintered at Fort Clatsop before returning east to St. Louis in the spring of 1806. It took just over three weeks for the Expedition to build the fort, and it served as their camp from December 8, 1805 until their departure on March 23, 1806.The site is now protected as part of the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, part of which was formerly known as Fort Clatsop National Memorial until 2004. The original Fort Clatsop decayed in the wet climate of the region but was reconstructed for the sesquicentennial in 1955 from sketches in the journals of William Clark. The replica lasted for fifty years, but was severely damaged by fire in early October 2005, weeks before Fort Clatsop's bicentennial. A new replica, more rustic and rough-hewn, was built by about 700 volunteers in 2006; it opened with a dedication ceremony that took place on December 9. The site is currently operated by the National Park Service.

The Lewis and Clark National Historical Park (including the former Fort Clatsop National Memorial), located in the vicinity of the mouth of the Columbia River, commemorates the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Administration of the park, which includes both federal and state lands, is a cooperative effort of the National Park Service and the states of Oregon and Washington. The National Historical Park was dedicated on November 12, 2004. After reaching the Pacific Ocean, the Corps of Discovery camped at Fort Clatsop in the winter of 1805–1806. The park features a replica of the fort and a nearby visitor center. Also included in the park are several sites on the north bank of the river in Washington and other sites in Oregon.
