Pacific University is a private university in Forest Grove, Oregon. Founded in 1849 as the Tualatin Academy, the original Forest Grove campus is 23 miles (37 km) west of Portland. The university maintains three other campuses in Eugene, Hillsboro, and Woodburn, and has an enrollment of more than 4,000 students.

The Forest Grove Sound was an unexplained noise, described by The Oregonian as a "mechanical scream", heard in Forest Grove, Oregon in February 2016. In February 2016, a high-pitched noise was heard intermittently at night in Forest Grove, Oregon. The Department of Forestry determined that their equipment was not the cause of the sound. The news about the noise was first shared with Dave Nemeyer by a Forest Grove resident, who posted a video of it on the city's Facebook page. The Washington Post described the noise as sounding like a "giant flute played off pitch", car brakes, or a steam whistle. NBC News described it as "akin to a bad one-note violin solo broadcast over a microphone with nonstop feedback". It reportedly lasted from ten seconds to several minutes at a time. The fire department of Forest Grove did not consider the sound to be a safety risk. The noise occurred near Gales Creek Road. Neither the City of Forest Grove Public Works Department nor the Fire Department were able to explain the noise. According to NW Natural, there were no problems with gas lines in Forest Grove at the time. In February 2016, Andrew Dawes, a professor of physics at Pacific University, mapped the locations where the noise had been heard, although the results were inconclusive and did not suggest any single location.Throughout February 2016, approximately 200 calls were made to the Forest Grove Police Department, according to Captain Mike Herb, who said that most of the calls were suggesting explanations for the sound, ranging from frogs to aliens to Bigfoot. In late-February 2016, the Forest Grove police department announced via Facebook that the noise did not pose a safety hazard, and the police announced they were halting their investigation until further information appeared. However, after February 2016, the noise was not heard. The final point was plotted on Dawes' map on February 27, 2016, and the police and fire departments closed the case. Dave Nemeyer, the Forest Grove Fire Marshal, suspected the noise to be "a faulty attic fan or heat pump."In October 2016 Theatre in the Grove, a performing arts theatre in Forest Grove, created a haunted house based on the Forest Grove noise called "Aliens in the Grove".

Forest Grove Fire and Rescue is the municipal fire department for the city of Forest Grove, Oregon. Started in 1894, the department has two stations used to provide fire fighting and emergency medical services to both the city and the Forest Grove Rural Fire Protection District. The department also provides administrative support to the neighboring Cornelius Fire Department.

The Benjamin Cornelius Jr. House, also known as the Benjamin Cornelius Jr. and Rachel McKinney Cornelius House, is a historic residence located in Forest Grove, Oregon, United States. It was built around 1873 by carpenter Harley McDonald, one of the first settlers to offer architectural services in Oregon, and is one of only two houses designed by McDonald remaining in Forest Grove. Its Italianate form and Gothic details are highly distinctive in Forest Grove, while its veranda (added around 1900) exhibits Colonial styling. Benjamin and Rachel Cornelius, the first occupants of the house, had crossed the Oregon Trail via the Meek Cutoff in 1845; the Cornelius family was instrumental in the foundation of Hillsboro and the town of Cornelius during their lifetime, and Benjamin was also prominently involved in early real estate transactions in the area. Benjamin was murdered in 1881, during the couple's tenure at this house.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, and included as part of the Clark Historic District in 2002.

Woods and Caples General Store (also known as Grove Furniture Store) is a general store located at Forest Grove, Oregon. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The former First Church of Christ, Scientist in Forest Grove, Oregon, United States, is a historic Christian Science church built in 1916. It was designed by Spencer S. Beman, son of the noted designer of Christian Science churches, Solon Spencer Beman who had died in 1914. On January 21, 1994, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Forest Grove is a city in Washington County, Oregon, United States, 25 miles (40 km) west of Portland. Originally a small farm town, it is now primarily a commuter town in the Portland metro area. Settled in the 1840s, the town was platted in 1850, then incorporated in 1872, making it the first city in Washington County. The population was 21,083 at the 2010 census, an increase of 19.1% over the 2000 figure (17,708).Located in the Tualatin Valley, Oregon routes 8, and 47 pass through Forest Grove with 47 and 8 signed as the Tualatin Valley Highway south and east of the main part of the city, respectively, Oregon Route 8 signed as Gales Creek Road west of the city, and Oregon Route 47 signed as the Nehalem Highway north of the city. Pacific University has been the most distinctive aspect of the town throughout its history. Old College Hall on campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Places along with nine other structures in the city.

The Stephen and Parthena M. Blank House, also known as the Old Stagecoach Stop, is a historic residence located in Forest Grove, Oregon, United States. Built in 1858 or 1859, it is one of Forest Grove's distinctive examples of mid-19th century Greek Revival architecture. Gradual extensions of the structure from the 1850s to the 1880s employed multiple frame construction methods; the house particularly exhibits clear remnants of the balloon-frame and box-frame techniques of the period. Oral tradition suggests that the house was also used as an overnight stagecoach inn on the route between Portland and Tillamook in the late 19th or early 20th century. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Dr. W. R. and Eunice Taylor House is a mansion located in Forest Grove, Oregon. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The Walker Naylor Historic District, also referred to as Walker's and Naylor's Additions Historic District, located in Forest Grove, Oregon, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The district is bounded by Gayles Way on the west, Covey Run Drive on the north, A Street on the east, and 21st Avenue on the south, which is west of Pacific University and north of the city's downtown area. Walker Naylor was added to the NRHP in 2011, the third historic district in Forest Grove. The district has 145 properties covering 32 acres (13 ha), and includes three houses listed on the National Register.

C. W. Mertz Rental House No. 2 is a building in Forest Grove, Oregon that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 21, 2005. It was built by architect John Taylor. It is a contributing property within the Clark Historic District.The house is notable for being built of hollow concrete walls, a process developed by John Taylor. The Taylor Process Hollow Concrete Wall system had two concrete walls with a continuous air space between them. Taylor filed a patent for the mold that was used to build the walls. As the walls were built up vertically from a concrete foundation, reinforcing ties were added between the double walls. When the specified height was reached, the top was closed with a suitable cap. The exterior walls could be finished with any adaptable finish, but stucco was the most common method. The Zula Linklater House in Hillsboro was also built using this construction method. About a dozen buildings in Forest Grove, and a few outside the city, were constructed using Taylor's double-wall method.: 9–11
