According to The New York Times of May 21, 1889: The Hon. Horatio G. Jones, President of the Trustees of the George Nugent Home for Baptists at Germantown, Philadelphia, announced that the home had a foundation or endowment of $300,000 or $400,000, and was ready to receive all Baptist ministers and their wives over sixty years of age. The inmates are supported for life.

Large suburban houses were built in the area from about 1850 to 1900 in a variety of styles including Carpenter Gothic, Italianate, and Bracketed as part of the Picturesque Movement of architecture. In the 1870s styles moved toward High Victorian and Second Empire. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, and it covers about six square blocks, bounded by McCallum Street on the north, the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks on the south, Tulpehocken Street on the west, and Walnut Lane on the east. Thirty-seven buildings in the district are considered to be significant and 118 are considered to be contributing, with only 13 considered to be intrusions.

Lincoln Drive is a 4.1 mile road in the Wissahickon Creek section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Initially built in 1856 as the Wissahickon Turnpike, it was not completed until about 50 years later. The road is called the “Dead Man’s Gulch” due to its twisting and turning. Initially, the purpose of the road was to provide access from the mills to the city of Philadelphia.Some historic locations that the road passes include Historic RittenhouseTown, Germantown, and Chestnut Hill. The Mayfair House was a historic 14 story apartment building completed in 1926 and located at 401 West Johnson Street in the West Mount Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Lincoln Drive between Johnson and Cliveden Streets. It was considered "one of the city's most original and distinctive landmarks, a major architectural work."It may be considered part of a set of three apartment buildings in the area, the others being the Alden Park Manor and McCallum Manor which offered a type of modern city living in the early 20th century in a suburban, even rustic, setting. The Regency architecture also offered "ethnic continuity" to Philadelphia's anglophile culture.The building has been destroyed and 401 West Johnson Street is now an empty lot.

It was built in 1925, and is a nine-story, H-shaped, reinforced concrete building faced in brick in a Federal Revival-style. It features terra cotta decorative elements.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

In 2004, this station saw 176 boardings on an average weekday.

The Reformed Episcopal Church of the Atonement is a historic church in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia. It is a parish of the Reformed Episcopal Church's Diocese of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic and a contributing property to the Tulpehocken Station Historic District.While the current building dates to 1929, the church was founded in 1875 as the Third Reformed Episcopal Church. It took its current name by 1894.
