Strahlhorn (Baltschieder)

The Alpjuhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located north of Mund in Valais. It is situated on the ridge separating the Baltschiedertal and the Gredetschtal.

The Baltschieder Hut (German: Baltschiederklause) is a mountain hut of the Swiss Alpine Club, located north of Baltschieder in the canton of Valais. It lies at a height of 2,783 metres above sea level, at the end of the Baltschiedertal near the Bietschhorn. The Baltschieder Hut is used for the ascent of the Bietschhorn, the Jägihorn, the Nesthorn, the Breithorn (Blatten) and the Breitlauihorn.

The Stockhorn (3,212 m) is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located north of Baltschieder in the canton of Valais. It overlooks the Baltschiedertal and lies south of the Bietschhorn. On the south side of the mountain is located the Stockhornbiwak (2,598 m), a mountain shelter operated by the Swiss Alpine Club.

The Nesthorn is a mountain in the Bernese Alps. It is located in the Swiss canton of Valais north of Brig. The mountain lies between the Oberaletsch Glacier on the north and east side and the Gredetschtal on the south side. It is part of the subrange of the Bernese Alps that culminates at the Aletschhorn. The Nesthorn was first ascended from Belalp in 1865 by B. George and H. Mortimer, with Christian Almer and his son. Passing the base of the peak nearly to the head of the west branch of the Beich Firn (tributary of the Oberaletsch Glacier), they had on their left a steep iceslope, broken in five places by protruding masses of rock. Ascending the steep channel between the two masses nearest the Nesthorn they reached the ridge overlooking the Gredetschtal, turned to the left, and crossing a minor peak, and attained the summit in 6 hours, exclusive of halts.

The Breithorn (Swiss Standard German pronunciation: [ˈbraɪthɔrn]; 3,785 m) is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located east of Blatten in the canton of Valais. It lies between the Bietschhorn and the Schinhorn, on the range separating the Lötschental (valley, north) from the main Rhone valley (south). Its summit is the tripoint between the Lötschental and two other smaller valleys: the Baltschiedertal and the valley of the Beichgletscher. The Breithorn is one of the two mountains named Breithorn overlooking the Lötschental, the other being the Breithorn (Lauterbrunnen).

The Unterbächhorn is located in the Bernese Alps, southeast of the Nesthorn. The higher Northwest-Peak of the Unterbächhorn (3,620 m) lies on the ridge towards Nesthorn. The Southeast-Peak (3,554 m) is the highest summit overlooking Belalp in the canton of Valais. At its south-eastern flanks lies a glacier named Unnerbächgletscher.

The Lonzahörner (3,560 m) are a multi-summited mountain of the Bernese Alps, located east of Blatten in the canton of Valais. They lie east of the Breithorn (Blatten), on the range between the Lötschental and the Oberaletsch Glacier.

The Breitlauihorn (3,654 m) is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located east of Blatten in the canton of Valais. It lies west of the Breithorn (Blatten), on the range between the Lötschental and the Baltschiedertal.

The Gärsthorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking Mund in the canton of Valais. The main (north) summit has an elevation of 2,964 metres, while the southern summit has an elevation of 2,927 metres.

The Tieregghorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located north of Ausserberg in the canton of Valais. It lies south of the Bietschhorn, on the range separating the Bietschtal from the Baltschiedertal.

The Oberaletsch Glacier (German: Oberaletschgletscher, meaning Upper Aletsch Glacier) is a valley glacier on the south side of the Bernese Alps, in the canton of Valais. It had a length of 9 km (5.6 mi) with an average width of just under 1 km (0.62 mi) and an area of about 22 km2 (8.5 sq mi) in 1973. The Oberaletsch Glacier system consists of two approximately equal arms. The eastern one takes its starting point on the south western flank of the Aletschhorn at around 3,700 m (12,100 ft), and joins the western arm (Beichgletscher) in the valley at the foot of the Nesthorn. Then the glacier flows to the south-east towards the Aletsch Glacier without reaching it. The glacier tongue ends at around 2,150 m (7,050 ft). During the Little Ice Age in the middle of the 19th century the glacier was part of the Aletsch Glacier. The Swiss Alpine Club Oberaletschhütte (2,640 m (8,660 ft)) is above the junction of the two glacier arms and has been accessible to hikers since 2005 with a new trail from Belalp.
