Ipswich High School (Massachusetts)

Brown's Manor is a historic house at 115 High Street in Ipswich, Massachusetts. It is a 2+1⁄2-story Second Empire structure, with brick walls decorated with wooden trim, and a mansard roof pierced by segmented-arch dormers. The building corners have white-painted wood quoining, and the front entrance, set in a round-arch opening, is sheltered by a porch supported by grouped paneled columns. The house was built about 1886, probably by George Brown, who purchased the property that year. Brown was from a family known locally for its house-building skills.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Hart House is a historic First Period colonial house at 51 Linebrook Road in Ipswich, Massachusetts. A dendrochronology survey in 2007 proved that the earliest portion of the "Hart" house dates to 1680 when it was built by a newly married Samuel Hart, a tanner. For many years it was thought to date to 1640 as the home of his father, Thomas Hart. The house as originally built was a two-and-one half story single room plan house, with a chimney bay on the east end. An addition was later added onto the opposite side of the chimney c. 1725. Restorations to the house to make it more original took place in 1902 when it was used as a guest house. Two full interior rooms from the original structure were purchased in the 1930s by New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art (purchased a downstairs room) and Delaware's Winterthur Museum (purchased an upstairs room) as exhibits. The Hart House now serves as a tavern and restaurant in Ipswich.

The High Street Historic District is a predominantly residential historic district in Ipswich, Massachusetts. It encompasses the oldest section of High Street, which was laid out when Ipswich was founded in 1633. The district runs for four blocks from the junction with Town Farm Road and the railroad right-of-way in the west, to North Main Street in the east. The street was for several centuries part of the principal thoroughfare through the town, but became sidelined by the construction of Central Street in 1871, which bypassed traffic off most of this stretch of High Street.Ipswich was from its earliest days an important transit stop, and High Street was the location of its inns for travelers. It was also where courts met when judges rode the circuit. In the 18th century small industrial shops also populated the street, and some of these led to the building of larger textile firms elsewhere. When Central Street was built just south of High Street, the street began to acquire a more distinctly residential character, which it retains to this day.The district contains more than thirty structures built before 1750, many of which retain First Period and Georgian styling. Some of the more interesting houses include that of John Caldwell, built c. 1660 on the site of Governor Simon Bradstreet's original 1630s house, the c. 1770s town jail, which was converted into a Greek Revival house in the 19th century, and the c. 1727 house of Reverend Nathaniel Rogers. One of the more unusual later buildings included on the district is a Stick Victorian at 12 High Street.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Brown Stocking Mill Historic District in Ipswich, Massachusetts encompasses the (now demolished) mill building of Harry S. Brown's stocking-making factory, and associated mill worker housing Brown had built. Brown, a supervisor at the Ipswich Mills, established his company in 1906, constructed a factory on Brownville Avenue, and built a series of worker housing units on Brownville and several nearby streets. The historic district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. It includes properties at 24—32 Broadway Avenue, 3—41 Brownville Avenue, 10 Burleigh Avenue, 3—5 Burleigh Place, and 35—47 Topsfield Road.

It was one of the Polish-American Roman Catholic parishes in New England in the Archdiocese of Boston.The parish closed April 25, 1999. The building retains the original structure, but the inside has been converted into luxury apartments.

The Bailey House is a historic house in Ipswich, Massachusetts. It was built sometime between 1893 and 1910 to serve as the home and office Doctor Bailey, a prominent local physician. It is sited on a hill overlooking the central downtown area of Ipswich. The 2+1⁄2-story house is one of the most elaborate examples of Queen Anne/Colonial Revival architecture in central Ipswich. Roughly rectangular in plan, a veranda embellished with Colonial Revival details wraps around the north and west sides of the house. The central portion of the front is a protruding bay that also rises up through the bottom of the roof and is topped by a turret shaped gable extension. It is flanked on either side by small gable dormers.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Ipswich station is an MBTA Commuter Rail station in Ipswich, Massachusetts. Located in downtown Ipswich, it serves the Newburyport/Rockport Line. The station is handicapped accessible, with a mini-high platform on the northern end of the platform. The former Boston and Maine Railroad station building was demolished by 1962. Ipswich was the terminus of the line from April 1976, when the lone remaining round trip to Newburyport station was cut, until full service was restored on October 26, 1998. Just south of the end of the platform are two auxiliary tracks that were used to store trains during that time.

The Caldwell Block is a historic block on S. Main Street in Ipswich, Massachusetts. It is the oldest surviving building in Ipswich that was designed as a commercial and retail space, and is still used for that purpose. It is located prominently in the center of Ipswich, at the junction of North and South Main Streets, and Central and Market Streets. It was built in 1870 by Luther Caldwell, on the site of an old woolen mill that was destroyed by fire a few years earlier, and features Italianate styling. The building has always housed retail stores on the ground floor and office space above. It is notable as the location of the offices of writer John Updike between 1961 and 1974, when he wrote many of his works there.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Meetinghouse Green Historic District encompasses the historic 17th century heart of Ipswich, Massachusetts. The district runs along North Main Street, south from its junction with High Street to the southern end of the Meetinghouse Green. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.The Meetinghouse Green was laid out in 1634, not long after Ipswich was established, and was for many years the heart of its civic life. In addition to private residences, it was flanked by public facilities, including a meeting house, jail fort, and animal pound, as well as the stocks. Although it has since become predominantly residential, it is still the site of churches and the public library.Most of the thirty properties in the district are residential, with their construction divided between the 18th and 19th centuries. The 18th century houses are mainly Georgian in character, although there are a few houses that have some evidence of First Period origins, despite exterior decorations from a later period. The 19th century buildings are mostly Greek Revival or Italianate in character; there is one Queen Anne house (47 North Main), and one with Second Empire styling (21 North Main).

Ipswich Female Seminary was an American female seminary in Ipswich, Massachusetts. The institution was an early school for the secondary and tertiary-level education of young women. Enrollment averaged 116 students. According to Academy records, 88 of the school's graduates went on to teach as educational missionaries in the western and southern United States.
