Örnsberg metro station is a station on the red line of the Stockholm metro, located in Aspudden in the south part of Stockholm Municipality. The station was opened on 5 April 1964 as the southwest terminus of the first stretch of the Red line, from T-Centralen to Örnsberg, with a branch to Fruängen. On 16 May 1965, the line was extended further southwest to Sätra.

The borough was formed on January 1, 2007 by merging the Hägersten borough (Hägersten, Fruängen, Hägerstensåsen, Mälarhöjden and Västertorp) with Liljeholmen borough (Aspudden, Gröndal, Midsommarkransen, Västberga and a portion of Hägersten).

Stora Essingen is an island and a district in the Kungsholmen borough in Stockholm, Sweden. It is located adjacent to Lilla Essingen on Lake Mälaren. Both Essingen Islands are mainly residential areas. Stora Essingen is scattered with private houses and apartment buildings. The Essingeleden motorway, part of European route E4, passes along a section of the eastern shore. The Tvärbanan light rail passes near the eastern shore and has one stop on the island.

Gröndalsbron (Swedish: The Gröndal bridge) are two bridges in central Stockholm, Sweden, connecting the island Stora Essingen to the southern mainland district Gröndal. The older bridge, inaugurated in 1967, forms a 460-metre section of the Essingeleden motorway, of which 260 metres constitute the bridge, divided into three pre-stressed concrete frames, 70, 120, and 70 metres in length. Due to several ramps connecting to the bridge the width varies from 38 to 45 metres, while the horizontal clearance is 26 metres throughout the entire structure.The second bridge, inaugurated in 2000, forms part of the Tvärbanan light rail line and is a 120 metres long pre-stressed concrete box girder bridge. After its inauguration, slip cracks have been discovered in the bridge, a discovery which was covered up for at least a year and the following revelation in media became a main local news event for some time. The bridge has since been reinforced and is still in operation.

Gröndal (Green Valley) is a district of the Hägersten-Liljeholmen borough in Söderort, the southern suburban part of Stockholm. The name Gröndal means Green Dale or Green Valley. Gröndal developed as a working class and industrial suburb after the opening of Liljeholmen freight station in the 1860s. The district was a part of Liljeholmen municipal community in the Brännkyrka municipality until 1913, when Brännkyrka was incorporated into the city of Stockholm.

The Essingen Islands (Swedish: Essingeöarna) are a group of two islands—Stora Essingen and Lilla Essingen—in the Swedish lake of Mälaren, located southwest of Kungsholmen in Stockholm. Both Essingen islands are mainly residential areas, the smaller densely packed with apartment buildings while the larger is scattered with private houses and, to a lesser extent, apartment buildings.The islands were a part of the administrative Bromma socken until 1916, when they were incorporated with the socken into the City of Stockholm. They remained a part of Bromma Parish until 1955, when they received their own parish within the Church of Sweden. On older maps, the islands are called Stora Hessingen and Lilla Hessingen.Essingebron bridge was built between the islands and Kungsholmen in 1907, and between the islands themselves in 1917. In 1966, the Essingeleden motorway opened across the islands. The Alviksbron bridge (for pedestrians, bicycles, and trams) opened in 2000.
