Gunton Meadow

Gunton Wood is a 2.8 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Lowestoft in Suffolk. It is owned by Waveney District Council and managed by the Gunton Wood Community Project.This was formerly part of the gardens of Gunton Old Hall, which was demolished in 1963. There are trees such as lime, oak and copper beech, a pond and green winged and bee orchids.There is access from Gunton Church Lane.

Wipeout (formerly Coca-Cola Roller and Missile) is a roller coaster located at Pleasurewood Hills theme park in Lowestoft, England. Vekoma designed the roller coaster. Wipeout uses a boomerang design.

Cannonball Express is a roller coaster located at Pleasurewood Hills, Corton, near Lowestoft, Suffolk. It is the only Schwarzkopf Jumbo V coaster to be manufactured.

Benjamin Britten Academy (formerly The Benjamin Britten High School) is a coeducational secondary school located in the northern outskirts of Lowestoft, Suffolk, England. It caters for scholars aged 11 to 18. It is also home to the Suffolk Centre of Excellence in Mathematics. The school was named after the Lowestoft-born composer Benjamin Britten and was designed as he approached his death in 1974. Its modernist design reflected the style of his compositions and remains distinctive in its layout and intended black and white colour scheme. The school was completed in 1979.In September 2011 the school became an 11 to 16 school as part of the reorganisation of schools in Lowestoft by Suffolk County Council. Pupils in years 7 and 8 joined the school after the closure of eight middle schools in Lowestoft. The opening of Lowestoft Sixth Form College also meant that the school lost its role in the Lowestoft 6th consortium, which had operated as a shared sixth form between the high schools in the town. Previously a Local Authority school administered by Suffolk County Council, in May 2016, the Benjamin Britten High School was converted to academy status. It was granted 11-18 Sixth Form status, as part of the Hartismere family of schools. The school continues to coordinate with Suffolk County Council for admissions. The academy was awarded a rating of 'good' from Ofsted in 2019.

Corton railway station was a railway station serving the village of Corton, Suffolk on the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway line between Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft Central. The station opened on 13 July 1903.The station was host to a LNER camping coach from 1935 to 1939 and may have had a coach visiting in 1935. A coach was also positioned here by Eastern Region of British Railways from 1952 to 1954, then there were two coaches until the end of the 1960 season. These were replaced in 1961 by a Pullman camping coach which was joined by another Pullman in 1962 until all camping coaches in the region were withdrawn at the end of the 1965 season.The station closed, along with the rest of the line, on 4 May 1970.Corton is the only station building, apart from Lowestoft Central, remaining on the route of the line. It is currently in use as a private residence, the trackbed has been filled to platform level, and while the canopy is still in existence, it is looking very run down and forlorn.

Gunton is a suburb of Lowestoft, in the East Suffolk district, in the English county of Suffolk. Gunton was a small coastal village, but over the years it has been suburbanised. Gunton has an estimated population of 6,640. The main A12 or Yarmouth Road runs through the area. The eastern part of Gunton, from Yarmouth Road to Gunton Cliff, is one of the most affluent parts of Lowestoft, after the North Broads area of Oulton Broad. In 1931 the parish had a population of 110.Hollingsworth Road, the main road through west Gunton, is named after the philanthropist Howard Hollingsworth who lived at Gunton Cliff. Gunton was home to Roland Leighton and his family, and it is described by Vera Brittain in her First World War autobiography Testament of Youth. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished and merged with Lowestoft.

Akethorpe, or Akethorp, was an English village thought to have been located in what is now part of the Suffolk town of Lowestoft. The village was described in the Domesday Book as being home to four households in the Hundred of Lothingland. It formed part of the King's holding in 1086, having been held by Aelmer the Priest in 1066.The manor of Akethorp was purchased by Magdalen College, Oxford in 1478. Earthworks though to be part of the manorial boundary have been surveyed in the area. A road in modern Lowestoft is named Akethorpe Way.

Gunton Warren and Corton Woods is a 31.9 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Lowestoft in Suffolk. The site is owned by Waveney District Council, and Gunton Warren is managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust while Corton Woods are managed by local volunteers of the Corton Woods Project.Gunton Warren is a coastal site which has sand dunes, shingle, lowland heath and cliff slopes. Birds include rare migrants including icterines and yellow-browed warblers. Corton Woods has mature trees and diverse flora such as lesser celandine, bee orchids and common spotted orchids.There is access to both sites from Corton Road.

Corton Cliffs is a 5.5-hectare (14-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Lowestoft in Suffolk. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This is described by Natural England as a "nationally important" site, as it is the type locality for the Anglian glaciation around 450,000 years ago. The Anglian was the most extreme ice age of the Pleistocene epoch. The site displays the complete Anglian sequence and its relation to the preceding Cromerian stage.The site is a public beach.

Corton Mill is a Grade II listed tower mill at Corton, Suffolk, England which has been converted to residential accommodation.

Corton is a village and civil parish in the north of the English county of Suffolk. It is 3 miles (4.8 km) north of the centre of Lowestoft in the East Suffolk district. The village is on the North Sea coast with the county border with Norfolk to the north. It is a seaside holiday centre, with a number of facilities for visitors. Great Yarmouth is 6 miles (9.7 km) to the north. At the 2011 United Kingdom census the parish had a population of 1,099. It borders the Suffolk parishes of Lound, Blundeston and Flixton as well as the Lowestoft suburb of Gunton and, to the north, the Norfolk parish of Hopton-on-Sea. The A47 road runs along much of the western border of the parish and cuts through the south-western portion, along with the A1117. The roads meet at a junction near the Pleasurewood Hills theme park, located just south of the parish boundary in Gunton. The former Yarmouth–Lowestoft railway line ran through the village and Corton railway station operated between 1903 and 1970 when the line was closed.
