Liébana is a comarca (administrative division) of Cantabria, Spain. It covers 575 square kilometres and is located in the far southwest of Cantabria, bordering Asturias, León and Palencia. It is made up of the municipalities of: Cabezón de Liébana, Camaleño, Cillorigo de Liébana, Pesaguero, Potes, Tresviso and Vega de Liébana.

The Monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana is a Roman Catholic monastery located in the district of Liébana, near Potes in Cantabria, Spain. Located in the Cantabrian Mountains in northern Spain, the monastery is one of the five places in Roman Catholicism, together with Rome, Jerusalem, Santiago de Compostela and Caravaca de la Cruz, that has the privilege of issuing perpetual indulgences. The monastery was founded prior to the 6th century. The monastery holds and venerates part of the Lignum Crucis discovered in Jerusalem by Saint Helena of Constantinople, which is claimed to be the largest piece held. Brought from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre by Saint Turibius of Astorga, the left arm of the True Cross is kept on a gilded silver reliquary. The monastery was initially dedicated to St. Martin of Tours but its name was changed in the 12th century. On April 16, 1961, the Franciscan friars, Custodians of the Holy Places, were entrusted with the relic's safekeeping and with the promotion of the devotion to the Holy Cross.

Cillorigo de Liébana (Spanish pronunciation: [θiʎoˈɾiɣo ðe ˈljeβana]) is a municipality located within the autonomous community of Cantabria, Spain. According to the 2007 census, the city had a population of 1,179 inhabitants. Its capital is Tama.

Pedredo is a town in the Arenas de Iguña municipality of the Spanish region of Cantabria. In the year 2004 its population was 239. Pedredo is located 1.8 kilometers (1.1 mi) from the capital of the municipality, Arenas de Iguña, and 200 meters (656 feet) above sea level. There has been a parish church located in the center of Pedredo since the 17th century. The town is also the birthplace of the bell founder Pedro Buenaga Pernía (1917-2001).

Palacio is located just north of the los Llares river and is 1.5 kilometers (0.93 mi) from the capital of the municipality, Arenas de Iguña, and 205 meters (673 feet) above sea level.

Las Fraguas is a town in the Arenas de Iguña municipality of the Spanish region of Cantabria. The population of Las Fraguas was 166 as of the year 2004. The town is located 0.6 kilometers (0.37 mi) from the municipality capital, Arenas de Iguña, and 180 meters (591 feet) above sea level. The Palace of Las Fraguas (El Palacio de los Hornillos), where The Others was filmed, can be found here. Within the palace are the Praying Sculptures of the Acebedos, which were declared to be of special cultural significance in 2003. The sculptures have been dated to the 17th century, when they belonged to the now ruined Palace of the Acebedos in the municipality of Entrambasaguas.
