WQDR-FM

WCMC-FM (99.9 MHz) is a sports radio station based in Raleigh, North Carolina and licensed to nearby Holly Springs. Its studios are located in north Raleigh along with WRAL-FM, an adult contemporary music station, two sports talk stations WDNC (620 The Buzz) and WCLY (1550 The Buzz) (simulcasted on HD2 and HD3. All are owned and operated by Capitol Broadcasting Company which also owns NBC television affiliate WRAL-TV, Fox affiliate WRAZ-TV (FOX 50), and the Durham Bulls minor-league baseball team, among other properties. WCMC-FM transmits from an antenna located in the Auburn community southeast of Raleigh, on a tower shared with WRDC, WRAL-FM, and WQDR-FM. The station also broadcasts in HD Radio.

WRAL (101.5 FM, "Mix 101.5") is a commercial radio station licensed to Raleigh, North Carolina, and serving the Research Triangle. It is owned by the Capitol Broadcasting Company and broadcasts an adult contemporary radio format, switching to Christmas music for part of November and December. Capitol Broadcasting also owns NBC network affiliate WRAL-TV, Fox affiliate WRAZ-TV, and the Durham Bulls minor-league baseball team, along with several other radio stations. WRAL carries the audio of the Six O'Clock News broadcast from sister station WRAL-TV. During tornado warnings, WRAL-FM also simulcasts WRAL-TV's audio of their tornado coverage. WRAL has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 98,000 watts, close to the current maximum for U.S. radio stations. Its broadcast tower is southeast of Raleigh in Garner at (35°40′35.1″N 78°32′7.2″W). WRAL broadcasts using HD Radio technology. An adult album alternative format branded as "That Station" is on its HD2 digital subchannel. The HD3 subchannel carries an All-News format known as "WRAL News+".

WTVD (channel 11) is a television station licensed to Durham, North Carolina, United States, serving as the ABC outlet for the Research Triangle area. Owned and operated by the network's ABC Owned Television Stations division, it maintains business offices on Liberty Street in downtown Durham, with newscasts originating from studios on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, as well as news bureaus in Chapel Hill and Fayetteville. The station's transmitter is located in Auburn, North Carolina. On-air branding uses ABC 11 as a station identifier, with the call letters taking a secondary role.

The Wayland E. Poole House is a historic home located near Auburn, Wake County, North Carolina, a small, unincorporated community located to the east of Garner. Built in 1911, the house is a Queen Anne cross-gabled frame building with a wraparound porch.In September 2003, the Wayland E. Poole House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Meadowbrook Country Club is a historic country club and national historic district located near Garner, Wake County, North Carolina. The club was founded in 1959, with initial improvements made throughout the 1960s. The contributing resources are the lake (1961); pier (1961); picnic area (1962); driving range (1966); nine-hole golf course designed by Gene Hamm (1966); one-story, concrete block, Modern Movement style clubhouse (1962, 1970, 1971); and 18-hole putt-putt course (1962). Meadowbrook Country Club was founded as a private country club for African-Americans.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Clemmons Educational State Forest (CESF) is a 825-acre (3.34 km2) North Carolina State Forest in Clayton. It is North Carolina's first educational state forest, and it is operated by the North Carolina Forest Service. The site features self-guided nature trails with audio exhibit stations, the Forestry Exhibit Center with interactive exhibits about the ecology of forests, soil, water, wildlife and the state's cultural history. There are 4 main trails with 8 miles of hiking available. The two audio trails ("Talking Trees" trail and the "Talking Rocks" trail) feature recorded messages about the history of the forest and trees as well as geology of North Carolina. The Forest Demonstration trail shows actual forestry practices, while the Watershed Extension loop features streams, hills, and other interesting sites. There are picnic sites as well as a large covered picnic shelter available for the public to use. Another interesting feature is a large 40 feet by 24 feet deck overlooking a 3-acre pond with a large map of North Carolina showing all of the river basins in the state. Children and adults enjoy feeding the fish from the deck also. Forest rangers offer education programs for school groups.

South Garner High School is a school in Garner, North Carolina, near the Research Triangle area. It is a part of Wake County Public Schools. The mascot is the Titan, and the school colors are platinum and purple.

Ellington-Ellis Farm is a historic home and farm complex located near Clayton, Johnston County, North Carolina. The house was built around 1835, and is a two-story, "T"-plan Greek Revival style heavy timber frame dwelling. It is sheathed in weatherboard, is flanked by exterior stone end chimneys, and has a low hip roof. It was remodeled in the 1850s that added a two-room kitchen/dining ell. Also on the property are the contributing smokehouse with a bell tower (1830s), a four-seat ladies' privy (1830s), and a playhouse (1850s).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Saint Mary's Township (also designated Township 16) is one of twenty townships within Wake County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, Saint Mary's Township had a population of 58,484, a 52.8% increase over 2000. Saint Mary's Township, occupying 60.5 square miles (156.6 km2) in southeastern Wake County, includes most of the town of Garner and portions of the city of Raleigh.

Sanders-Hairr House is a historic home located near Clayton, Johnston County, North Carolina. It was built about 1787, and is a two-story, five-bay, transitional Georgian / Federal style frame dwelling. It is sheathed in weatherboard, is flanked by massive double-shouldered exterior end chimneys, and has a full-width shed roofed one-story front porch.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

On June 9, 2009, a natural gas explosion occurred at the ConAgra Foods plant in Garner, North Carolina, United States.

Walnut Creek is a 17.93 mi (28.86 km) long 4th order tributary to the Neuse River in Wake County. Its source is a small pond near WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, and it flows generally eastward through several small reservoirs, including Lake Cramer in Cary as well as Lake Johnson and Lake Raleigh in Raleigh, before reaching its confluence with the Neuse just south of Poole Road in East Raleigh. The course of the creek closely parallels Interstate 40, running mostly along the north side of the freeway. The Walnut Creek Trail, a branch of the Capital Area Greenway, follows the length of Walnut Creek from Lake Johnson to its confluence, and is the second longest trail in the Greenway System. A large swampy wetland (which has been partially reclaimed by urban development), occupies the area around the last several miles of the creek; the Walnut Creek Wetland Center, operated by Raleigh Parks and Recreation, is dedicated to the study and preservation of the wetlands. The Coastal Credit Union Music Park, commonly known by its original name of Walnut Creek Amphitheater, is located near the wetland area near where the creek passes under the I-40/I-440 interchange.
