Suffolk Wildlife Trust (SWT) describes itself as the county's "nature charity – the only organisation dedicated wholly to safeguarding Suffolk's wildlife and countryside." It is a registered charity, and its headquarters is at Brooke House in Ashbocking, near Ipswich. It was founded in 1961, and is one of 46 wildlife trusts covering the Great Britain and Northern Ireland. As of March 2017, it has 13,200 members, and it manages 3,120 hectares (7,700 acres) of land in 60 nature reserves, most of which are open to the public. It had an income of £3.9 million in the year to 31 March 2017.Suffolk is a county in East Anglia. One SWT reserve is in Dedham Vale, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and seven are in another AONB, Suffolk Coast and Heaths.

The local authority must have a legal control over the site, by owning or leasing it or having an agreement with the owner. LNRs are sites which have a special local interest either biologically or geologically, and local authorities have a duty to care for them. They can apply local bye-laws to manage and protect LNRs.As of August 2017 there are 36 LNRs in the county. Three are in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, seven are Sites of Special Scientific Interest, one is a Nature Conservation Review site and two are managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust. The largest LNR is Sudbury Common Lands with 50.3 hectares (124 acres), which has ancient wetlands, and the smallest is Alderman Canal West at 1.0 hectare (2.5 acres), which has rare wetland flora.

Designation as an SSSI gives legal protection to the most important wildlife and geological sites. As of October 2017 there are 142 SSSIs in Suffolk, of which 109 are biological, 28 geological and 5 are designated under both criteria. One site is in the Dedham Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and thirty-six are in another AONB, Suffolk Coast and Heaths. There are thirty-three Geological Conservation Review sites, twenty-three Nature Conservation Review sites, twenty Special Areas of Conservation, thirty Special Protection Areas under the European Union Directive on the Conservation of Wild Birds, eight Ramsar internationally important wetland sites, seven national nature reserves and four contain scheduled monuments. Six sites are local nature reserves, twenty-seven are managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust, five by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and one by the National Trust. The largest is Breckland Forest at 18,126-hectare (44,790-acre), which is partly in Norfolk and has several invertebrates on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, and the smallest is a 0.1-hectare (0.25-acre) meadow in London Road Industrial Estate, Brandon, which has the largest known wild population in Britain of the nationally rare sunflower Artemisia campestris.

Church Meadow is a 3.8 hectare Local Nature Reserve on the southern outskirts of Stowmarket in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by Mid Suffolk District Council.This was formerly the garden of Combs Hall, which was demolished in 1756. Surviving features include earth banks and a round pond, which has frogs, newts toads and many dragonflies. The meadow is grazed by sheep.There is access from Church Road.

The River Rat is a river in the county of Suffolk in East Anglia, England.Its source is to the south of the village of Felsham, and is the major tributary of the River Gipping. The River Rat joins the River Gipping at Pikes Meadow in Stowmarket. The river flows through the village of Rattlesden, and is also known as the Rattlesden River.

The Stowmarket Guncotton Explosion happened on 11 August 1871 at the Prentices Guncotton Factory in Stowmarket, Suffolk. It was blown up by two massive explosions, that occurred within the factory, killing 28 people and injuring approximately 70 others.

The Stowmarket Guncotton Company was an explosives company established in the 19th century by Messrs Prentice that operated a gun-cotton factory in Stowmarket, Suffolk, England. The factory was the scene of an explosion in 1871 that claimed the lives of 28 people.

Combs Ford is a suburb of Stowmarket in Suffolk, England. It sits at the confluence between the rivers Gipping and Rattlesden. Combs Ford is where the procession of the Stowmarket Carnival changes as it swings between The Magpie and The Gladstone public houses and proceeds towards Ipswich Street. It is held in popular local folklore that Dick Turpin once resided at the bottom of Poplar Hill near where the hairdressers on Poplar Hill is now. He was barred from local public houses and had to travel into Stowmarket to drink in the Market Place. Rumour also has it he left Combs Ford for a woman whom he loved. Combs Ford is home to a number of local characters. Deejay Johnny Double is the local master of Hip Hop and is well known for his love of Hip Hop. He is often heard playing to the locals at the bottom of Poplar Hill. The Lord of The Ford, is another local who is renowned for clearing the River Rat at Boulters Bridge. Another local celebrity is the legendary DJ Wyld. Who produces a Harder style of Dance music. And can be sometimes seen along Poplar Hill.

Little London is a village in Suffolk, to the south of Combs and Stowmarket.

St Mary's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Badley, Suffolk, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church is located some 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Stowmarket on the west side of the B1113 road, and is approached by a track about a mile long.

Prentice Brothers Limited was an English fertiliser manufacturer founded in Stowmarket, Suffolk during the mid-1850s. The company produced a number of "chemical manure" products that used coprolites and rock phosphates among other ingredients.

Eastbridge Windpump is a smock mill that served as a pumping station until it was relocated to the Museum of East Anglian Life, Stowmarket, Suffolk, England and which was then restored to working order.
