University Metro station

The University of Sunderland is a public research university located in Sunderland in the North East of England. Its predecessor, Sunderland Technical College, was established as a municipal training college in 1901. It gained university status in 1992. It now has campuses in Sunderland, London and Hong Kong, and has about 20,000 students.

St Anthony's Girls' Catholic Academy (formerly St Anthony's Girls' Catholic School) is a secondary school and sixth form located in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England.It was established as a grammar school by the Sisters of Mercy in 1902 and relocated to the current site on Thornhill Terrace in 1939. The school became comprehensive in 1972 and became a voluntary aided school in 1976. The school achieved specialisms in technology in 1999 and languages in 2009, and converted to academy status in 2012.St Anthony's Girls' Catholic Academy offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils, while girls in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A-levels and further BTECs.The current head of school is Mrs Catherine Hammill, and the current executive head teacher is Mrs Francesca Craik.

Bishopwearmouth is a former village and parish which now constitutes the west side of Sunderland City Centre, merging with the settlement as it expanded outwards in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is home to the Sunderland Minster church, which has stood at the heart of the settlement since the early Middle Ages.

The Minster Church of St Michael and All Angels and St Benedict Biscop (commonly known as Sunderland Minster) is the minster church of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. Formerly known as "St Michael & All Angels' Church", it served as the parish church for Bishopwearmouth, but was renamed in January 1998 after Sunderland was granted city status. In May 2007 the Minster ceased to be the parish church of Bishopwearmouth and village is now a suburb of Sunderland. Sunderland Minster is part of the Greater Churches Group.

Thornhill Academy, (formerly known as Thornhill School) is a co-educational secondary school located in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England.It was a community school administered by Sunderland City Council, and had a specialism in business and enterprise. In September 2017 Thornhill School converted to academy status and was renamed Thornhill Academy. The school is now sponsored by the Consilium Academies Trust. Thornhill Academy admits pupils mainly from Barnes Junior School, Diamond Hall Junior School, Hudson Road Primary School and Richard Avenue Primary School.The school offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils. Graduating students often go on to study at the Bede Sixth Form, a sixth form consortium including Thornhill Academy and Sunderland College.

ARTARENA is an "art film museum" planned for Sunderland in northeast England. It is intended to show items from the Roland Collection of Films on Art on 45 screens; visitors will wander between them wearing headphones that switch to the appropriate soundtrack. The original concept called for a futuristic €35m building in London. This gave way to a £2m reconstruction of the West Park United Reformed church on Stockton Road in Sunderland, which is planned to open in April 2012. Visitors will pay a small fee to get in and then rent headphones by the hour; over 160,000 are expected in the first year.

Park Lane is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving the port city of Sunderland in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network on 28 April 2002, following the opening of the extension from Pelaw to South Hylton.

Stockton Road United Reformed Church (formerly St George's with Trinity and St James Church (abbreviated to St George's)) is a United Reformed church in the Ashbrooke area of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. Originally a Presbyterian church, it was constructed by John Bennie Wilson of Glasgow in 1888–90, to replace a former chapel on Villiers Street which was too small for the congregation. Much of the funding was provided by a local shipowner, (later Sir) Robert Appleby Bartram, who laid the foundation stone on 7 February 1889. The church was constructed of red sandstone from Dumfries and modelled upon Crescent Church, Belfast.In 2007 the congregation merged with the former West Park United Reformed Church, and from 2014 chose to use the St. George's building and sell the West Park building.

The Vaux Site is an area of brownfield land in the centre of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear currently undergoing development. The area of the former Vaux Breweries until its closure in 1999, the council are recreating the site in a multi-million pound joint venture with Carillion. The development will create up to 19 new buildings for leisure, retail, living and office purposes. Phase one of construction started in 2016 with work on a series of offices valued at £25 million

City Hall is a municipal building in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. It is located on the Vaux Site, adjacent to Keel Square, and was opened in November 2021. It is the headquarters of Sunderland City Council.

Ashbrooke is a residential area of Sunderland, North East England directly south and south-west of the city centre. Ashbrooke developed through the Victorian era as Sunderland's first suburb. Originally occupied by large middle-class families, including much of Wearside's Jewish population, a fair number of the larger residences have been reorganised into dwellings of multiple occupancy, home to the local University of Sunderland's students and young professionals. The large, well-built houses, the wide, tree-lined avenues, and the often colourful street names ('The Esplanade', 'The Oaks', 'The Elms', 'West Lawn', 'Holmlands Park') signify the area's affluence. The area lies within walking distance of Park Lane and University stations on the Tyne and Wear Metro system. Local punk band The Toy Dolls wrote a song about Ashbrooke Launderette on their 1987 album Bare Faced Cheek. Various members of the band still either live or work in Ashbrooke. Ashbrooke is part of St. Michael's ward and is represented by three Conservative councillors; Lyall Reed, Peter Wood and Michael Dixon.

Millfield is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving Sunderland Royal Hospital and the suburb of Millfield, City of Sunderland in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network on 31 March 2002, following the opening of the extension from Pelaw to South Hylton.
