Queen Anne's School is an independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11 to 18, situated in the suburb of Caversham just north of the River Thames and Reading town centre and occupying a 35-acre (14 ha) campus. There are around 450 pupils. Nearly half are boarders. Some stay seven nights a week; others stay during the working week (weekly boarders) or two, three or four nights a week (flexi boarders). Saturday morning lessons were replaced in 2009 by a programme of optional sport, hobbies and extended learning activities, including rowing, horse riding, textiles and first aid. The school awards scholarships in academic subjects, sport, music, art and drama at ages 11 and 13 and at sixth form entry. Queen Anne's is a member of the Girls' Schools Association and the Boarding Schools' Association. Queen Anne's was chosen as one of Tatler magazine's Top 225 prep and public schools 2010.

Balmore Walk, also known as Balmore Park, is a public park in the village and suburb of Caversham in the English town of Reading. The park runs from north to south along the brow of a bank, with good views over Caversham and Reading. There are pedestrian entrances to the park from Hemdean Road, Rotherfield Way, Balmore Drive, the Ridgeway and Peppard Road, whilst National Cycle Route 5 runs the length of the park from Peppard Road to Rotherfield Way. Balmore Walk is mostly grassland, with a scattering of individual mature Hawthorn bushes and Corsican Pine trees. There is also a hay meadow, and a small woodland with mature oak and beech trees. The steep bank of what is now Balmore Walk, but was then known as Balmer's Field, played a part in the Siege of Reading during the English Civil War. The Roundhead forces, under the command of the Earl of Essex, forced the Royalists to retreat up the hillside, maintaining their control of Caversham Bridge.

The West Memorial Hall, or West Memorial Institute, is a Victorian Grade II listed building at 7-9 Gosbrook Road, Caversham, Berkshire, designed by Alfred Waterhouse. The Hall is a former Baptist Free Church that has now been converted to apartments.

Caversham is a suburb of Reading, England, located directly north of the town centre across the River Thames. Caversham rises from the River Thames, lying on flood plain and the lowest reaches of the Chiltern Hills. In 1911, it was transferred to Berkshire and became part of the county borough of Reading.

Hemdean House School is a mixed, independent, primary and nursery school for children aged 3–11. It is situated in the centre of Caversham in Reading, Berkshire, England. Hemdean House School was founded in 1859 by Francis Knighton. In 1862 land was bought for £320, the new building was named Hemdean House. The school operates as a non-profit UK registered charityThe school used to have a girls senior school which was closed in 2016. The school was listed 29th in the Sunday Times list of 100 best performing independent schools in the UK.

Christchurch Meadows is a park in Reading, Berkshire, England, located next to the River Thames. It stretches along the north (Caversham) side of the river, between Caversham Bridge and Reading Bridge, and is linked to the south (Reading) bank by the Christchurch Bridge, a pedestrian and cycle bridge built in 2015. The name of the meadow derives from Christ Church in Oxford, whose dean owned 25 acres (10 ha) of farmland in Reading.Christchurch Meadows form part of a series of riverside open spaces, managed by Reading Borough Council, that stretch along one or other side of the River Thames throughout its passage through Reading. From west to east these are Thameside Promenade, Caversham Court, Christchurch Meadows, Hills Meadow, View Island and King's Meadow.The park takes the form of a grass meadow along the river's edge, with specimen trees and shrubs along the bank. At the eastern end there is a fenced children’s play area, with a paddling/boating pool and picnic tables, and a number of sports pitches. A distinctive line of Lombardy poplars edges the eastern boundary. At the western end, the Caversham War Memorial and the Reading University Boat Club can be found.A metalled footpath and cycleway runs along the river bank and provides an alternative to the formal route of the Thames Path long distance footpath, which runs along the built-up southern bank of the river between Reading and Caversham bridges. A second metalled footpath and cycleway connects the northern end of Christchurch Bridge with Gosbrook Road in Caversham, and intersects with the riverside path.

Emily Salvini (31 October 1989 – 3 May 1997) was a seven-year-old girl who was killed in an arson attack in her family home in Reading, Berkshire in May 1997. Her murder has never been solved.

Fry's Island, also known as De Montfort Island, is an island in the River Thames in England. The island is on the reach above Caversham Lock at Reading, Berkshire. The centre of Reading is to the south and the suburb of Caversham to the immediate north. Fry's Island is a natural island, the only access to it being by boat. It is home to a private house (Demontfort House), a boatyard with a residence (Caversham Boat Services) and a private bowling club (the Island Bohemian Club). Each of these occupants runs their own private ferry service. Administratively, the island forms part of Reading's Abbey Ward.

Hills Meadow is a park in Reading, Berkshire, England, located next to the River Thames. It stretches along the north (Caversham) side of the river, to the east of Reading Bridge. It is linked to the south (Reading) bank by a footpath, locally known as The Clappers that crosses View Island and the weir at Caversham Lock.Hills Meadow form part of a series of riverside open spaces, managed by Reading Borough Council, that stretch along one or other side of the River Thames throughout its passage through Reading. From west to east these are Thameside Promenade, Caversham Court, Christchurch Meadows, Hills Meadow, View Island and King's Meadow. Hills Meadow is connected to Christchurch Meadows by a pedestrian arch under Reading Bridge.The park offers walkways alongside a tree-lined backwater of the Thames, together with a BMX track, a skateboarding ramp and car parking. Hills Meadow is the traditional venue for fairs and circuses visiting the town.

Christchurch Bridge, originally known as the Reading Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge, is a pedestrian and cycle bridge over the River Thames at Reading in the English county of Berkshire. The bridge links the centre of Reading on the south bank with the cross-river suburb, and former village, of Caversham on the north bank. It crosses the river some 200 metres (660 ft) above Reading Bridge, and immediately downstream of Fry's Island.

Thames is an electoral ward of the Borough of Reading, in the English county of Berkshire. It was created in the boundary changes prior to the 2022 Reading Borough Council election and should not be confused with the ward of the same name that existed prior to that election, with which it has no area in common.
